Queens Gambit was the dark horse of Netflix, I think of all time. I never expected to be taken by a chess movie, series or anything related to chess. It was so beautifully done you didn't need to know anything about the game itself. From the decor to the acting to the writing it was just brilliantly done. I understand Chess is a game of intelligence and integrity and those who put this series together portrayed all of the games qaulities to the screen.

Oh i am so glad it didn’t get a season 2. And not because I dislike the show. I would actually say this is my favorite show ever. It’s just that the story was written to end after getting over her addiction and becoming the world champion. Dragging the story for any longer would just be unreasonable. Look at other tv shows that were meant to end after 1 season but kept going on because they were well received and there was more money to be made. 13 reasons why for example had an idea that they executed in 1 season but since it was renewed for a season 2 they had to keep going even though the story had come to an end which lead to the mess that is 13RW seasons 2&3&4. Just plan out a show, execute it and end it. Don’t keep making shows that overstay their welcome.

The Queens Gambit has been one of my favourite books for years and so Im relieved they did a great adaption. If people loved the mini series they should get a copy of the book by Walter Tevis who also penned The Hustler, The Color of Money and the Man who fell to Earth. The book explains in great detail the thoughts and strategy of Beth as she comes up against the various opponents. It adds a lot of depth to a fascinating character. They should resist the impulse of a second season as it will have to write a new narrative and will likely be a disappointment. Best to stop while they are ahead.

Great job with this trailer, would have been a very interesting concept for a season 2. I sort of hope they don't make another, personally... the first one was so perfectly done and self contained that there is no need for a 2nd, which would probably disappoint in comparison.

Miniseries, season 1 was maybe the best series I've ever whatched. Just almost finished with my second "watch through", its just perfect in my humble opinion. Since 20 years I'm watching actively "tv" series, this is the best one I've seen in every perspective. Just seamlessly it moves on and on, no major flaws, all greatness and story driven. Not sure we need a second season. Thought this world is just something to behold.

I actually would love a second season where we actually see the next side of being a winner (kinda like with Rocky 2) where we see how Beth finds her way into keeping her place as the greatest chess player of her time but maybe, also, how to handle the lose of the title and how she could see someone actually beating her. Maybe being caught with new found geniuses, better player, ageing and growing older. Maybe even the idea of "I'm not staying forever" I'd love to see that.

The 1st series is pretty loyal to the novel, so I'm not sure what they'll do with a Part 2. I hope it is not trash. The first series was great (and I highly recommend the novel, by the same author who wrote The Hustler and The Color of Money among other great works).

Man this is like Rocky franchise! The intense rivalry build up in this trailer. The creators of this series are not short of shear brilliance! They have taken a bland, absolutely no thrills board game reserved mainly for elite nerds or European dads (don't get me wrong, I love chess and can play quite well) and gave it thrills, raunch, suspence, drama and sheer orgasmic excitement! But it's chess......just chess. Like squeezing blood out of a bloodless rock, they have squeezed emotions out of an emotionalless chess board.

I would pay to see this movie! It looks amazing! And it would be interesting to see how it would play out since despite Bobby being one of the best players to ever exist, he was also known to see women as inferior. Therefore putting that dynamic in this movie by having him play Harmon would shed more light in gender inequality and the evolution of that, also how his perspective might change could also be interesting to see.

Well, Fischer was Fischer. IMO the strongest chess player of all time (yes, the 'gap' between Fischer and everyone else in his era FAR exceeded Kasparov and Carlsen's separation from their contemporaries). So.... Not sure he's the juggernaut Beth Harmon should tackle in season 2. If she's going to vie for the world title (duh), it should start with the Soviets. If not Borgov then another upstart (there was no shortage). Then, if the public will tolerate a 3rd season (a big IF), THAT is when the Fischer drama could be introduced. And spoiler alert: She should lose! Beth is still human, Fischer was not (ergo the meltdown). She should follow a Judit Polgar trajectory of badass brilliance, even exceeding Judit by reaching the pinnacle. But her humanity should come through in the end (as in the elegant ending of season 1). Meaning: they should NEVER sacrifice her to the level of insanity that was Bobby Fischer.
