I really like how the host really lets the Queens just do their thing and get into the fantasy but also tries to reel them in but when he sees them getting immersed in the fantasy again, he just lets go and trusts the queens with their storytelling. This back and forth is just magical.

The way Brennan got these gals out of their storytelling shell was fkn amazing. He is so generous with his narration and storytelling and improv that literally anyone at that table can get the energy and confidence to start really storytelling too. It's genuinely amazing acting craft, and it's phenomenal generosity.

With newer players, often times Brennan really has to work to get a description of how an attack/spell looks or like what their character is feeling during battle Now he gets to sit back and grin while these wild-ass queens write, direct, star and co-star in a full-length independent art film (the kind that requires some white hipster dbag to yell at you for six weeks after credits roll cos you “didn’t get it”) to decide how they’re going to blink in response to a gentle coastal breeze. All that to say; Monet running ahead of her arrow before it fully leaves her bow is the kind of goofy nonsense I needed

You should absolutely try it! Any GM worth their salt (like Brennan) will help new players navigate the space. This series is a pretty great intro though for how the game works. Also, there are other ttrpgs in the space that have less number complexity if you want. But there’s subreddits for people looking for playgroups if you can’t find anyone local to play with you. And lots of resources if you want to try running a game yourself!

Dropout! It’s a paid streaming service but it’s only six dollars a month and they offer a free three-day trial. There’s only two episodes of the season out right now so I’d wait until it was finished if you wanted to do the trial route, but the rest of their programming with all the other seasons of dimension 20 and shows like Game Changer and Play It By Ear it’s 100% worth the price of like a coffee a month.
