Probably my favorite duel of the movie. I like the Swedish guy, and how polite he is, so I was happy that he got eliminated early and survived. He said he'd only wound The Kid, and The Kid's reply, "You're a kind man", can be seen as cocky ribbing, but he still afforded him the same mercy, which was nice. Add in the wicked zoom-ins, the Dutch angles, the intense stares, and it's just an all-around great scene. :)

He also advised him to stayed down unless he want to continue the fight. Which shows an added kindness to the Kid. He was too kind for this world in spite of his cockiness. Still a boy.

Swedish Champ Pistol Choice Information The Lemat Revolver was designed by the French however it saw service in the Civil War as a favorite amongst confederate Calvary troops, only 30,000 Lemat revolvers were smuggled into the south. However, they were known as a powerful pistol and unique due to its additional shotgun blast. It saw service in numerous conflicts throughout the late 19th Century such as the Prussian Danish War of 1864 where it was used by Danish Army Officers. By the 1880s it was being phased out of military service due to newer cartridge pistols however, it remained a favorite amongst duelist pistoleers, law men and bandits until the early 1900s as a simple hard hitting pistol that in the hands of an experienced gun fighter it could be a worthy opponent to more modern pistols using cartridge technology. Today the Lemat is still an icon of the wild west being featured in films like the Quick and the Dead and videogames like Red Dead Redemption 2. Hopefully this little post was informative

You say that, but people used to get hit at group B rallies all time and we aren't just talking about people standing on sharp corners, some used to run onto the track. This behaviour continued even after multiple deaths. This got so bad that the entire series ended as authorities in several countries got pissed that organisers couldn't control the spectators. Just think on that an international racing series was banned because the spectators kept intentionally putting themselves into a position to get hit by a car.

duelist1954 has a couple videos about the LeMat cap and ball revolver shown in the clip. Judging by the videos, not likely anyone would have wanted to fight a duel with one, even though it is a cool antique pistol from the Civil War era. A poor choice if they wanted to show someone using a cap and ball weapon. According to the video linked below, the reloading assembly had a way of coming loose and breaking off. The rammer is shown flopping around in a slow motion part of the video. It was apparently invented by a cousin of Confederate general Pierre Beauregard, who had a hand in its adoption by the confederate cavalry. Jeb Stuart was probably the most famous person who carried one. The guns were made in France, and had to be imported past the Union blockade. They were made in .42 caliber. The shotgun barrel was 16 gauge, and had a separate cap nipple. The firing pin had to be flipped down to fire the shotgun barrel.duelist1954 So, Swedish gunfighter, using a confederate cavalry gun, made in France... what could possibly go wrong?🙃 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmawXoSHfrSWa80

The lube keeps the fouling soft for that next shot. There is no chance for sparks to fly into the front of the cylinder..... Then past the pressed ball of which a small part gets shaved off to ensure a seal in the cylinder. the only way for a cylinder to ignite is for the nipple to be exposed and damp powder isn't a problem if properly capped. the lube is just that, lube for the bullet to travel down the bore with minute fouling.

Usually some kind of grease or bees wax. Cap & ball revolvers were know for "chain firing." One chamber going off sets off the chamber next to it, one usually not in line with the barrel. @@mikefranklin1253 Hollywood is a CIA affiliate that originally recruited the remnants of the Nazi party. Whatever its nature, the motifs used in the film's story are quite close to reality, are they not?

anonymity of the crowd, every one knew each other back then. you did not go in teh general store and act a fool and get back in there again. end of, and if you did it enough you were run out of town NSEW or 6feet under. We got rid of a lot of "aHole genes" before they could procreate during the "pioneer/frontier" days. Taking that aggressive antisocial trait out brought the 1900's and a strong society that really need no cops. The gene is making a comeback as it would without Natural Law and the right to "stand your ground" being in everyone's hands keeping it in check. And they imported it back into N America for good measure.

I thought it was one of the best. Its made for the masses so it is obviously wrong in many things but it shows the main spirit of those films. People relying on themselves and their guns. If you're not good you're dead.

Thats an amazing gun, it loads 3 different kids of ammo.

Which one? The kid's gun shoots .45s, the Swede's gun was a LeMat revolver. The LeMats were ball-and-cap guns. You weren't watching the Swede load different types of ammo, you were watching him pour the powder, then put in the ball, etc.
