A drill head and a paver would have gotten you out. The paver lays a road in the angle you want as you drill out. Your method to get down is fast, I would usually lay a corkscrew road on the way down, but it takes more time.

Yeah when this video was made the paver wasn’t in the game yet. But I carry with me all the time now.

I've been using your method now, saves a lot of time. The only challenge is escaping the gravity well in the core with the rover!

I finally decided that abandoning the rover in the core suits me just fine. I just bring a lot of packagers so I can bring the valuable equipment back through the gateway.

Slap a Paver onto that, and you can make yourself a slide. Wheeeeeee! I tried that. made a giant slide, drove back up before falling onto the engine, and just sliding down on foot. It only takes up about half of your default oxygen tank the whole ride, and you can keep your rover for later use. Just to be safe, have a couple full Medium Canisters on it, just to have some extra soil. You'll still get a lot, but you'll also use a lot.

Hey, I mean if you take a cheaper-to-make vehicle down there...AFTER activating another node...then you can just leave it there at the bottom and you'll be good xD

Wish I watched this video first. Just got my brand new, decked out rover stuck in the core in the first 10 mins of use. The rover glitched and got embedded in the core layer. Going to study up on your other vids for sure!

Oh its definitely possible to escape but maybe not in this particular case for me. That said, a lot of people, myself included usually builds long ramps down to the core. Takes forever.

You only have to activate all of them if you are trying to get all the achievements in the game.
