We talk to the one and only Mr Lemmy Kilminster about his love of rock & roll, Hawkwind, his love of punk rock & Nirvana, and why humans can learn a lot from the ants... but for now, "You can love the individual, but you can't love the race... we're arrogant bastards. We're like a dose of crabs"
Filmed by Marc Broussely in association with LoudPixels.

I met Lemmy once, around 1980, in a bar in London. He was with some people, but still made time to talk to me and my friend for 10 minutes. Top guy.

Don't mean to offend a fellow Motörhead brother, but i am quite sick of people dramatizing his health. He lived a hard rock'n roll lifestyle, and he worked hard too, always on the road or in the studio. Drank and smoked heavily and certainly had his fair share of other substances too. It was his choice, it is to be expected. Just leave it alone.

I read Hawkwind by David Abraham's . In it Dave Brock eludes to the reasons why Lemmy got sacked from his band . Lemmy was overly aggressive when woken from two days in bed while the rest of them were trying to get to the next gig . Lemmy repeated this inconsiderate behaviour all over North America and by the time they were due in Edmonton they took a vote and he got binned. Lemmy has never forgiven the members of Hawkwind and in the last few years it was stylish to blame Hawkwind , it was indeed his own fault that it led to his sacking. Lemmy had been on stage many times as a guest at lots of Hawkwind gigs and just once it would have been pious of him to have admitted he was wrong about his back biting attitude . I have always been a fan and mean no disrespect but the truth is the truth and Americans are usually 30 years behind the story . Dave Grohl's first ever sighting of the band was on the Young Ones TV show . This was obviously the Classic line up had split and Philthy was to leave straight after . Despite a new incarnation Lemmy was flogging a dead horse because the Classic line up was the best line up .

Lemmy has been my idol since I was young (now 52). When I was 14 I was attending a concert in Figgjo, Norway. Between songs I raised my arm - at the back end of the sports-hall they were playing at and he said "Thats right son" - lol - I,ll never forget it. I was with an older neighbor/buddy - and his father came to pick us up when the gig finished. He said: "The volume was ok in the parking lot, BEFORE I got out of the car. 🤘🕺

I'm not sure if he suffered fools gladly, but he always came across as a genuine bloke. He never bad mouthed in public, he just sat there knowing what he was capable of. He knew how much better than most he was, he never had to keep stating it. He just played his own Ace of Spades, which is- " you think you're good? Watch THIS! " And once he opened up, that bowel opening, teeth loosening, earthquake of a sound, that is all that needed to happen, any challenge was defeated.

Be who you are ! Whatelse can you do ? Im sure Lemmy wouldn't get along with this woke movement, that our world is into these days...These days you have to watch out what you say and so on.Lemmy had a codex of honour and manners and a lot of wisdom. There will never be no second Lemmy or so.He was one of the kind like David Bowie.Somehow after Bowie and Lemmy left our world, the world lost a lot of spirit. The so called new normal these days is a piece of garbage. However the good old days live on inside the music, and nowhere else. What we have today is something I have to learn to live with, but apart from that I don't like it.What what can you do against it ? Bloody nothing mate ! Be who you are□

He actually looks and sounds quite good here...there were a few interviews that were closer to the end where you could tell he was deathly ill. Marc Maron's podcast, the Noisey interview, and one in France.

@@johnhowe8424 - I'm very glad you agree. Thank you. :-) Regarding 'hand twin' = I was referencing a joke made by one of the characters of the television show "Friends" because of Jason Thomas' mention of Lemmy being a 'terrible hand model'.. I'm not an ex-spurt but I believe metal, in it's infancy, was around before Lemmy began Motorhead in 1975 (I don't count Hawkwind, Sam Gopal or The Rockin' Vickers as being proto-metal) but i wouldn't dispute that he helped it's development!

it seems to me that if you had only heard 1 or 2 motorhead songs and watched lemmy interviews you can't help but love his honesty.no B.S. plain talking and his love for rock music and what he does.RIP Lemmy your music will be still being played in 50 years time still inspiring the bands to come.Thank God
