Since I have noticed a few comments seem to have misunderstood me, I would like to apologize for my weird humor and clarify something. E.V.O. was NOT made by Quintet and has nothing to do with the ActRaiser series. I cut to it as a joke since it features a more conventional take on Gaia as a woman, referring to my previous line about gender change being irrelevant to a divinity

I have a theory that the storyline of Terranigma comes after soul blazer but before illusion of gaia (or illusion of time for other parts of world). Illusion of gaia ends with the "white knight" who is Kara and "black knight" who is Will unite together to take on Dark Gaia on the comet. What is "original Ark" is reincarnated to Kara, the white knight, and "dark Ark" reincarnated to Will, the dark knight. Then the storyline follows the same hero reincarnated. Blazer reincarnates to Ark, who becomes two versions of Ark, which versions reincarnate to Kara and Will.

Superb video. My take with the timeline of the comet is this: it was created in the Friel Empire, being contemporary with the Tower of Babel. It's first passing was 800 years later, in the times of Egypt and China; 1600 years after the war, it passed for a second time, when Mu and Angkor were trieving; it's third pass was 2400 years after the war, in the time of the Inca and Nazca civilization. The fourth and last passing was in the times of Will and Kara.
@anon65143 жыл бұрын
Never thought of it that way. That's probably right. The fact that you come to the ruins of these civilisations in reverse chronological order, combined with the fact that you collect a mystic statue at each of them could suggest why nobody was able to locate all mystic statues in their lifetime. Will and crew needed a ship, camels and a plane to get to all of the places they needed to. I love the stories you can put together from the unfortunate folks who died to traps in these ruins too. It's excellent world-building. Even though I prefer the gameplay of Terranigma, IoG definitely gets my vote for storyline/characters/emersion etc..

I can't believe you didn't mention Turbo the dog! In Soul Blazer he lives in Greenwood, in IoG he's outside the house after Will and Kara are off the raft, and in Terranigma I'm pretty sure he was somewhere in NeoTokyo It makes me really happy people are still making videos about my all time favorite series of games though, thank you for helping keep the fire going

interesting fact, three of their members helped create the first two Ys games: Masaya Hashimoto was the director, programmer, and designer, Tomoyoshi Miyazaki was the writer, and Yuzo Koshiro was the composer. Edit: apparently I didn't know that Miyazaki and Hashimoto also worked on Ys III: Wanderers of Ys.
@CaptendoChannel Жыл бұрын
They left the studio right before the end of the development to create Quintet, this is why they weren't credited.
@GiordanDiodato Жыл бұрын
@@CaptendoChannel yeah I'm not surprised. Ys 3 feels like Falcom took a lot of control from them. It's also why I feel like their Gaia ARPG trilogy is the spiritual successor to the first two Ys games. The irony, of course, is that Ys is still ongoing and Quintet is long gone.

Sorry for my english, I'm a French gamer. Cool video. I personnaly would place E.V.O. at the very beginning of the timeline (only preceded by 46 Okunen Monogatari on PC-98, you should take a look at this game), since it tells the creation of the Earth, mentions Gaia and gives the Nazca Lines the same origin as in lllusion of Gaia/Time. For the "problem" of the Soulblazer World not corresponding to any of the other World of the "series", we may have an answer in the recent remake of Actraiser, titled Actraiser Renaissance : after Tanzra/Satan's defeat, a dimensional portal opens that leads to another world called Alcaleone. There we fight another God/Master, defeat him and takes his place. The layout of Alcaleone reminds me the one of the Freil Kingdom of Soulblazer. ...Or maybe my hype for a Soublazer remaster is too high and makes me see things that aren't ? :-P
@mackerelphones2 жыл бұрын
Ah, my bad. E.V.O isn't part of the series. I just dropped it in as a joke bc it reminded me of the unrelated material from Quintet! I should have been clearer But that's a good part about ActRaiser Renaissance, though. I haven't played it, so I leave it to others to determine how it might fit into the series
@darkpopolonx2 жыл бұрын
@@mackerelphones Thanks for your answer. The joke about Gaia is clear, don't mind with that :) ! But since E.V.O. was edited by Enix too, it makes, to me, a little sense to put it in the timeline. For Renaissance, it's a true remake of Actraiser 1, so I think it just comes at the same place.

@darkpopolonx2 жыл бұрын
@@kurorolucifer8775 Hello compatriote !
@kurorolucifer87752 жыл бұрын

Illusion of Gaia was allowed to slip against NoA's policies a bit. Words like "die/death" or "kill" often, but in games like FF6 for instance they are never used. The word "kill" is only used once in FF6
