Not shown here, but the way Jonas descended in the mid-section was unreal, heart in your mouth, every centimetre counts stuff. He must have memorised it so well to take it as he did. He then carried 70+ kmh into the flat for what seemed an age. Total commitment from start to finish. I love Pogi and hoped we'd have a really close finish, but Vingegaard was in a different league today. Hats off.

@@KingOfPopStars it seems almost too good to be true, agree. But I think we can be sure that #1 in the tour gets max doping tests after each stage. Is he on some secret “dope” that no one else is on or knows about?

Kinda wish I didn't think this way, but that performance was a bit surprising, to say the least.

JV on fire this year - played it very smart this tour and no-doubt all those 'attacks' by Pogi had burnt a few matches. Bike change also would have cost time too.

So a man who has never won a world tour TT blows the entire field away. I mean, it’s a phenomenal performance and I really want to believe, but…

Jonas has placed in top 3 in 4 out the 5 TdF TTs he has done. He would have won last year, but decided to give the victory to his teammate instead. Since 2018, Jonas has not finished outside top 10 in any TT he has done.

How much did the Aero difference effect Pogacar on the climb. did he lose time by being on a road bike. would the TT bike been the better option.
@babw Жыл бұрын
They usually switch to a rode bike from a TT bike on the climbs because road bikes are lighter and weight plays a bigger role than aero on steep climbs. So I believe, he even gained time thanks to the road bike but the question should be whether he gained more time than he lost due to bike switch or not
@michaelmechex Жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Pogačar chose to switch bikes because he can't climb efficiently enough on a tt bike. TT bike is quite a different beast to handle and the only one who showed perfect skill on it was Vingegaard.

Rule of thumb- 3 mins saving over 40km. So less than 45 secs if he was aero all the way for 10km

Aero definitely would make a big difference in the second half where the gradients were only about 4-5% maximum and they probably would have been doing upwards of 30kph
