I was in Europe for two months when all this was going on. The time of a young mans life. Have pictures of Black Jack's skid marks at Monaco. Many from all the circuits.

The way that cars in flames and 'a few burns' is narrated so casually without the race being stopped! How times have changed.

Ickx could still be champion in Watkins Glenn but Fittipaldi won the reace for his decased friend and teamate

Curious trivia. The day Rindt died in Monza, he gave invaluable tips to Fittipaldi on how to drive the Lotus 72 (until Monza Fittipaldi had driven the Lptus 49 only, and Monza was his first contact with the 72), mainly on how to attack fast corners, which was very different than the 49, throwing the front into the corner much more aggressively than with the 49. And Rindt was driving Fittipaldi's car when he died because he asked Chapman to have an immediate comparison between the cars, one without the rear wing, so Emerson's car was set up identically to Rindt, but had the rear wing removed. So, he stopped his own car in the pits after a few fast laps, had his seat swapped to the other car and went off without the rear wing... to his death. And Fittipaldi, who was only 23 and was on his 3rd GP believes that if Rindt hadn't tutored him on the 72 "behaviour" which was very different from the 49, he would not have won the US GP, and Rindt wouldn't have been a posthumous champion.

To me, Pedro's BRM P153 was always a handsome car. I also liked the look of the Shadow when it was introduced Don't know who/what is creating the closed captioning, but as famous as these men are/were it's disrespectful to NOT spell their name properly. X for Ickx, rent for Rindt Thank you for the uploads of past seasons they are very much appreciated

It's great to hear the team names Brabham, Stewart, and McClaren, as drivers names!!! Years before they were the names of teams!

I've read many books about Formula One, specifically Mike Lang's Grand Prix series. He didn't include Giampaolo Dallara having designed the De Tomaso F-1 car. Piers Courage would like a word with you.

A while ago, while commenting on something else on you tube, a "Mariam Ickx" answered my comment.. I asked if she was related to Jacky, expecting "who..?" But she was! So I asked if he was well. He is, I passed on my best wishes. The subject of the comments had nothing to do with motor racing btw!

Is it me, or drivers today look and feel like boys, and in the 1970s they were more like grown men? Perhaps because 50 years ago you could die at any given moment, this would be a fair enough explanation. I doubt they whined back then as drivers do today, for any silly reason, because for the obscene amount of money they earn now, and all the benesses they get, I'd think they should be more stoic and less like cry babies. And I am not talking about talent, for I believe this grid we will, have in 2025 is probably the most talented, collectively, of all time in the history of the sport. Even Alonso at 44 feels like a boy compared to drivers of the 1970s.

Unbelievable seeing spectators, crew and race marshals standing right at the edge of the track as cars whizzed by under full accelerating song. Yikes!!! Surprised they weren’t being killed by the bushel basket!

The young lady at the 02:00 mark........ Wow! She would not look out of place dressed like that, even today. "Hip hugger" jeans, the tied up shirt, the hair. Not much difference even nearly 53 years later! The shaky-shake aerial view at 02:30 I could do without though! And, I find it shady that the racing on the North American continent was not shown! What are we, lepers?

15:10 On the same day where the GP of the Netherlands took place, the final of the world cup held in Mexico between Brazil x Italy took place. with the victory of the Brazilians 4-1 giving the third football championship. definitely winning the cup with Pelé's goals for the Brazilian team and Boninsegna for the Italy national team all in the first half and in the second half the goals of Gerson Jairzinho and Carlos Alberto
