Hi there really nice Video. I used to work at Llangollen for many years and was one of the people who put the coach in the dock. We shunted to coach down and there is literally just enough room to swing the point with the coach tight up against the wall under the bridge then pulled it back up with a rope around the coupling of the coach and a diesel Shunter for a few metres and then we pinch bared the coach all the way up the siding until it was parked where it it now. I know a lot about the line so if you like any more information let us know.

Is that box car connected to the carriage the same one as shown in the black and white picture from the 1950s?

This line and the one from Bangor to Pwellhi are two routes I wish still existed. North Wales truly is beautiful and access via railway is problematic and poor, floods continue to damage the only existing route to Barmouth.

The early morning mist added a bit of mystery to the opening of the video. Ant, with all your walking you need a Shoe Sponsor. I was poking around on birdseye and street views, St Johns Church looks like a nice old church, some of the head stones look a bit old. Llangollen looks like a nice place to live. Thanks to Ant for keeping history alive.......

Fantastic scenery and amazing to see the canal high above the river, with a road and an abandoned railway sandwiched in between. I remember walking a stretch of the line near Barmouth in the mid-1960's, not long after closure, with the rails still in situ. Thank you.

It’s a real shame that they couldn’t get back into Ruabon again, but the land was built on behind Llangollen station in the early 80s . I remember seeing the track bed around 72 when we used to go blackberry picking just leading up to Llangollen station where it is now built over. I remember the telegraph wires had been cut and they were all hanging from the telegraph poles but the station was still,pretty much complete this was before it was purchased and the trust took over. I used to love this railway and can remember well before all the track was put back at Berwyn and you could have walked through the tunnel if you dared too, which I didn’t

Great video mate, you really should take a ride on this line. Maybe you should try following the route of the track after the line stops at Corwen and then onto Bala. There are a few bits and bobs left between, then the line used to split right up towards FFestiniog.

Brilliant Ant .. All of your vidios of this my local area have been amazing. This one more so as it reminded me of so many places and sights I know so well but don;t get to see in person any more. I still live fairly local, but as my Brother lives in Llan, I'll get him to investigate how they got the casrriage into the cattle dock in the station. I think it was winched in, but I'm sure he will find out more

Lovely to see Trvor platforms still in place. The staff on the Llangollen Railway are fab, very helpful. If you go back see if you can visit the railway works & Signal boxes along the line. It was my best day ever on a preserved railway. Got n the footplate too. The guard let us ride with him for a bit too. Make my American friends day. 👍 love all your videos👍

Great video as always Ant Loved the shots of the famous 4 all in a line, those being: 1) the river was obviously there first and surely powered some industry round those parts 2) then the canal came along to likely support transport of coal to the industry requirement, once water power was replaced by engine power, then likely support the transport of goods from the industry to the canal network… 3) then the railway replaces the canal 4) then the road replaces the railway Only thing missing was the drone picking up an aeroplane ✈️ in the distance and we could of had the full house 🤣 Being a Wiganer, we have very similar parts that have the famous 4 all very close by. Keep up the great work Ant 👍

Let me tell you about a train journey to go on holiday. Start at Cloughfold on a Met-Cam yellow diamond dmu to Bury Bolton Street, change trains to an L&Y emu to Manchester Victoria terminal platforms. Go onto the long through platform through the ticket barrier halfway along the platform into Manchester Exchange station and catch a train to Chester. Change across the station for a train towards Shrewsbury and change at Ruabon. Catcha train to Barmouth and Pwlthelli. Engine change at Barmouth, Hook Norton Manor in the other platform, get off at Llandanwg (the only change to Llandanwg Halt over 70 years is the colour of the paint and the addition of an electronic next train sign.

That one coach at Llangollen is a mystery on how it got where it is. Maybe it was put there when the track under the bridge was still there before it was blocked. A great journey and very enjoyable. All the best.

It would be wonderful if the Llangollen railway could make it back to Trevor. If they could then put in a cable car or some other way of bringing people between Trevor station and the World Heritage site at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct including the large empty space at the former chemical works, car parking (visitors could park here so as to visit LLan via railway) and visitor centre, you got think big! This would need a lot of cash which sadly is not plentiful today, so I can see this happening in my lifetime if it ever happens.

There's a lot of potential I mean it's all there. Depends who owns the land? Quite often farms use it but not own it

Any chance of that happening ended over 40 years ago, when the Woodlands Hotel built on the track bed.
@jonathanellis18429 ай бұрын
@@martin4787 yes I know,, most of the problems - blockages are at the LLan end and over a very short distance.This is why I cannot see this ever happening, but you can dream, or get the bulldozers out and that is going to cost, lots of cash, so it not going to happen any time soon!
