@@brookelondon8029the thing about spending a minimum amount to get “free” shipping is that it tends to make people spend more than they normally would. For me, prime pays for itself, considering most things I buy on Amazon would cost more if I bought them from the store.

I disagree with paying kids for doing everyday chores; they do chores because they are part of the family & we all need to work together to make the houshold run. We give kids an allowance only for 1 reason only, and that's to teach them how to manage money.(how to spend it, save it, and be charitable with it).
@alycat9186
@alycat9186 3 ай бұрын
I am in the same boat. I don’t pay for chores bc that’s their contribution to running the household that they also benefit from. It’s all about TEAMWORK. Helps them to learn that it’s important to help others and the world doesn’t revolve around them. I like giving money for helping with special projects, reading books and birthdays.

I agree. But how about paying kids for work that you might be outsourcing ? Cleaning a window? Mowing the lawn, painting? Of course age appropriate but this way they get used to the idea of thinking outside the box or side hustles

For Jonathan's case, They're getting to live with their parents which coming from an Indian is a desirable and good thing, you give your kids as well as your parents companions that they'll cherish, household work gets divided, emotional support, and in this case even handsome financial support is there. The deed would be in Jonathan's name, so ultimately your parents are kinda giving you their inheritance, right? I still don't understand why living in the same house is seen as problematic in Western society? Why do we see the parents of married adult "outside" their family? I'm pretty sure parents count their adult married children as a part of their family. Why do children not reciprocate that? I think one should do what one would have expected from our children. If you're too concerned about privacy, autonomy blah blah, then you could buy two floors of an apartment, one above the other. But please move closer to your parents. You're not going to regret it and would have wished to do that sooner. Also, from financial perspective you're only going to gain in this deal. Quoting Aishwarya Rai, I'm happy majority of Indians don't have to take appointments from their parents for meeting over a dinner and respect "family" as a unit.

For Jonathan, I would consider buying a nice duplex, where the parents can live on one side, and your immediate family on the other. This way you have separate living arrangements yet easy access to each other and most importantly the potential as a rental income property for one side of the duplex in the future.

Does anyone else see red flags popping up everywhere?! The parents could buy/rent an apartment or condo, or little house. And the family could have their own house close by. Way to early to think about living together. Many other options.

1:21:00 If the car was stolen, the insurance would have been paid out to the title owner- The Bank and then sent to a salvage auction. If the vehicle was stolen/recovered and repaired - that would not affect the Status of the vehicle.

Why is the answer always to sell your vehicle? It seems that if you have debt, you’re not allowed to drive with this theory. If they are working to pay off debt what makes you think they can save enough money to buy a vehicle in cash after selling the current?
@samuelvenegas2889
@samuelvenegas2889 5 ай бұрын
I absolutely hate when they jump to selling the vehicle before asking for the details. It’s why we need Dave back on or hosts that understand the principles and applies then specifically to different situations and not just blurt out blanket “rules” smh. Reeeeeally close to never listening again and I’m a long time fan
@danielle7729
@danielle7729 4 ай бұрын
The point is to get rid of the vehicle in the buy a crappy car in cash until you have the debt paid off, but that doesn’t always work if the crappy car needs to be taken to the mechanic. It just depends on how much the loan amount is and how much you can get out of the car when you sell it.

I would never pay children to do Chores. This seems to teach the wrong values. " if nobody pays me, I will not do any chores / I will never help friends " or " if we need more cheap cobalt, let's just send more children into the death mines in Africa, after all, I had to work as a child , too".
@brianparent4882

I got an allowance as a child. There was the base allowance but then a chart with a set of chores. If I ticked off all the boxes there was more money on pay day. It really helped me to understand the value of work. I was 10 when I inherited my brother’s paper route and then the allowance went away all together. At that point I had the discipline to deliver papers early. Earlier deliveries resulted in more tips. Convinced the allowance paved the way for the work ethic I still have to this day.
