So after tying a franchise record 10 game winning streak, they lose a road game on the end of a back to back, and thats the time we say they are not a stanley cup team. I've been up and down on this team, but now is not the time to have this perspective.

I also think the Rangers are not winning even the Eastern Conference as they are. Miller is a liability every game. Giveaways and just getting beat way too often. He’s big and needs to be more physical and get a tougher mindset. I’d bet he’s on the trading block. Rangers win a lot of games when they get outplayed much of the game. They rarely get a dominating win.

@@TheYamahog12 I understand but in fairness during this 10 game win streak the defense and goaltending is what was winning them games. I said earlier in the season after their hot start that all they need is zibanejad and Igor to return to form and they will be a cup team. Igor has during this month looked like his old self. It's really up to the star players right now to play at the level they can to carry the team. My biggest concern as of late is the power play. Suddenly they don't look as dominant which is what you need in the postseason.

You are 100% correct edd. I've been down on this team, but when you win 10 in a row and have a back to back away, I can look the other way (i.e. everything you said). What makes this idiotic take worse is that seemingly everyone in rangers fandom across X to youtube to reddit all felt the same way about Sunday's game - i.e. losing wouldn't be indicative of anything.

I’ve been a Rangers fan since about 1970 and nobody wants to see them win the Cup more than I do. Wanting to see the team get better isn’t an idiotic take. Even during this win streak I don’t think they look as good as they did the first half of the season.

BS. Rangers have every component necessary. They have elite scoring talent. They have elite goaltending. Trouba will end your season if you don't keep your head up. Fox can dissect you with passes. Power play is scary. Defensive team structure is solid. Just need to stay healthy and get a few breaks just like EVERY OTHER Stanley CUP champion.

Who's going to be the Messier and the Matteau? So you need someone to lead them and then you need the player who gets the big goals like in OT to win. Bread has had a great regular season but can he do it during the playoffs? Laffy seems to get some big goals during the regular season. Special teams will have to be at their best and the goaltending will have to be real good.

Edstrom is averaging 2-3 hits a game since his call up, but this team needs to take a look at Brett Berrard at 4th line LW, Tyler Motte 2.0 but faster and better scorer

This is depressing.. like.. even the Athletic came out with a comparison of all teams by position of Stanley cup teams compared to the contenders and they shit all over the rangers.. they have teams like the pens and flyers and other teams not even certain to make the playoffs or with much worst recordswith better ratings, more players/positions that measure up as a contender. All the teams with similar records to the rangers have way more checks... it's rly demotivating. We have beaten the superstars in the playoffs. The ovechkins, the Crosbys. Rangers teams without that star.... repeatedly , we have not gotten the cup but we have beaten star powered teams year after year since early 2010s

According to the Athletic, now there were 3 shades of checkmark and just an X, judging compared positions to the range of comparable players off Stanley cup champion teams to each eastern conf team. X fell entirely out of range. A grey check was "passable" but below average range. A black check was slightly above average range A gold check was way above range. Now discounting colors of checks. Just going on x's and checks. The Rangers had 7 checks and 5 xs. 6 other EASTERN Conf teams had more checks and less X's. (Boston 9) (Florida 12) (Carolina 10) (Toronto 11) (Philli 8) (Pitts 11) Only 5 teams had less total checks and more x's. (Detroit 5) (Tampa 6) (Jersey 6) (Washington 1) (Islanders 5) So according to the Athletic the Rangers stack up only 7th best in THE EASTERN CONFERENCE for the Stanley Cup.. not including the WEST??? meanwhile they are top 3 or 4 team in the league in record/ wins????

Miller is too soft. You can tell he isnt a defenseman by choice. His play behind our net is nonexistent. It's a free pass zone. He doesn't use his size at all. He's great when he kicks it in offensively, but that's not his job. He hates playing in our end. I don't mind using him as collateral in a trade.
