Regarding the race pick discussion, it's interesting comparing starcraft where you pretty much stick with a main race, to a game like AoE2 where theres a complex pick and ban system and pros are expected to be able to play the entire roster of factions at a competitive level.

2:32 A lot of protoss are warped out if they sustain critical injuries, in order to preserve their lives. You can see this in-game when their death animation shows a little "spirit" flying up. Not sure if protoss piloting their ships are able to be warped out when the ship is destroyed. If their bodies are too damaged but they want to continue to fight, then they're turned into immortals (which is why you can see in their portrait that they're in a life support tank). When immortals and archons die, they're gone for good. It always bothered me that in lore archons are a last resort for two templar because it guarantees they'll die (archons literally burn bright die young even if they survive combat), yet the game encourages you to fuse them very liberally.

*sigh* , these games show exactly what is wrong with Protoss in PvT in the highest level of play: you either win with Stalkers, abusing Blink and Warp Prism before Terran has enough firepower to melt Stalkers faster than you can save them, or you lose in late game due to Terran units being simply way more cost-effective and easy to produce. That's how Clem won first game here and that's how MaxPax manages to win his games vs Clem and other top Terrans. Once the Terran gets enough bio and medivacs to freely stim and melt Protoss gateway units with ease and Protoss is forced to venture into T3 to stand a chance, it's a losing game for Protoss unless the Terran makes serious mistakes. It just requires too much of too expensive tech from Protoss to counter basic Terran units, and that expensive tech has extremely effective counters on the Terran side. Most annoyingly of all, every late game engagement begins with protoss losing a several hundred minerals in zealots even if both sides immediately back off, since zealots will always melt immediately to a stimmed bio stutter-stepping away.

Lol what are you talking about?! Clem wins plenty of games with 4 base late-game robo armies vs Clem. It's just easier to kill Terran earlier, which to me suggests that Blink timings might be a bit too powerful vs early Terran. Yes it gets harder once bio reaches that mass and upgrades, but Maxpax is still very capable of winning - especially with the Ghost nerf.

There's storm that on paper should do pretty well against massing marines. Except the tech up costs 18 marines and each templar gotta kill 5 marines just to break even. Stalkers cost about 4 marines. 2 stalkers vs 8 marines out in the open is one thing, but 6 stalkers against 16 marines and 1 medivacs doesn't look so good. Add a cyclone that negates stalker's range and speed advantage? Medivacs are worth ~5 marines, plus starport ~3 marines (3 for cybernetics core deducted) (yay for measuring eco in marines!) (vespene is just winged-rounded up as a bit more that minerals)

@@steelwasp9375 the problem here is that HTs and marines don't fight in a void. As soon as the armies engage, Terrans stim and stutter-step back. Zealots get slaughtered while the slowass colossi, immortals, disruptors and HTs try to get in range for anything. Whenever the terran pleases he can fly in with his 10 vikings to delete a 300/200 colossus and leave before they take too much damage to storm and so on. There is no doubt that a stimmed terran army of literally anything will die to an equal-cost protoss army that gets to use disruptors and storms. It's just that this is not how the engagement looks like, the terran army is always microed, vast majority of their army is faster than the most impactful units in the protoss army. In most cases the terran is in charge of when and where they engage, and as the protoss key units try to pursue the stutterstepping terrans, one EMP or one Salvo from vikings is usually enough to reduce the Protoss army's potential by 50% The only unit protoss has that guarantees kills is a Tempest, provided you have enough of them to one-shot anything.

Suggestion on the overlay in case you're still open to then: repurposing the space where the player names are displayed (i.e. the red/blue background) to include an APM meter. I was thinking something like the length of the rectangle would correspond to the maximum APM of either player during the game, and a transparent gray bar that would fill up the red/blue space as APM increased, with the bar obviously completely filling up the space when the player hit their maximum APM. I think it would be interesting to see when APM spikes, how many actions one player makes relative to their opponent, and help alert viewers/observers to when something interesting might be happening!
