Only in the Imperium would the chapter that treats the codex Astarte as what it was meant to be, a guidebook, be viewed with suspicion.
@Bluecho4Ай бұрын
Well, the Imperium IS Fascist, and Fascists are deeply suspicious of any and all differences or distinctions. Considering disagreement to be _treason_ (or, in this case, Heresy). So every constituent part of the Imperium is suspicious and hostile to every other part, which is why they might end up fighting on the tabletop.

I like the idea that the blue and yellow is only their "parade" paint scheme that they used during the founding of their chapter, or for diplomatic missions. Imperial scholars witnessed it and recorded it, and assumed they also fought like that - which they don't.
@Bluecho4Ай бұрын
In their defense, most chapters seem to go into war with their "parade" schemes as standard, so it's an easy mistake to make. They didn't realize they were dealing with sensible people.

I'm still waiting to see what the revised Codex Astertes Guillmann is working on would have to say about the Raptor's prefered tactics. In my head canon, there is a scribe tasked to compile an entire appendix explaining how using camo and not engaging the enemy in a frontal assault are absolutely viable methods of warfare.
@aidanpeterson1001Ай бұрын
You're actually closer to the truth than you might think! In Dawn of Fire: Wolftime, we learn that Guilliman's personal equerry and nova codex Astartes editor is actually a Raven Guard, perhaps explaining where all the phobos units came from. We also know that the bolt sniper used by Primaris Eliminators is actually formally known (As seen in Shadowspear and in Wrath and Glory: Vow of Absolution) as the Mk.III Shrike-pattern bolt sniper rifle, suggesting the big bird himself had a hand in the precision rifle's development
@seanmcgrath2049Ай бұрын
That scribe is then summarily executed by an overly-suspicious Inquisitor who refuses to believe that any primarch would seek to re-write one of their own works and therefore imply that something they did would be imperfect, and implying imperfection in anything the emperor does or creates is BASEST, VILE HERESY
@Bluecho4Ай бұрын
Not that this will actually stop chapters from zealously adhering to the old Codex Astartes. Insisting that any "New" Codex Astartes is some misinformation by the Archenemy, or by cowardly heretics within the Imperium. It's not like Guilliman can personally go everywhere and confirm his approval of the new Codex, no matter how he's seemingly implied to be by his presence on the tabletop. (Moreover, even if he did show up to insist his Codex is legit, plenty of chapters may just insist HE is a fake, because False Primarchs are hardly new).

The illustration of the Raptor space marine in the Taros Campaign book is my favourite piece of marine art - everything about the armour is well proportioned (especially the feet, I really hate how a lot of marine models and art have enormous feet) and is obviously a mix of armour marks, the equipment is all practical but still retains heralrdry and relics. It's just a solid bit of artwork.
@KuK137Ай бұрын
Well proportioned - like primaris. Yes, all examples of good looking SM, be it from FW books, SM pc game, or DoW 2, have them looking like primaris, not chimpanzee proportions minis they had in the game before primaris came out.
