MG ZT-T 190 is an estate car with a manual V6 2.5ltr & ~187bhp along with the same 26mpg. It would also sit on the same upper medium market segment at the time although they are more common in the secondary market in 2024 but still fairly rare. You also need to rev it above 3000rpm to get any power out of it. ‘Performance’ estates have come somewhat into vogue these days & I certainly think they look good whilst have a practical aspect. I liked his car although I’d gone some of the modifications down a little & make it more plain & ‘Q’ car inconspicuous.

I had one for a couple of years. Nice car and sounded lovely, but economy was appalling and performance not all that. Was a perfectly good car but ended up striping it to sell, as it was worth more in bits!

2007 FR derv is .4 of a second slower over quarter of a mile and also at least 8 years newer. Congrats, you can make a poor comparison. It’s a mondeo, it’s not meant to be quick. That being said after a remap and set of headers they’ll happily keep up with a 2.0 clio rs which is in the 6 second bracket. Again for a 20 year old car, that’s not bad.

Yeah, vectra is great if you want to be slightly quicker in a straight line, want terrible handling in comparison and horrid seats that are on par with a church pew. Duratec is also far superior reliability wise too. 🙈

The duratec has been adapted in many ways. Tdi north are currently working on a 3.0 n/a at around 420bhp. Noble used these engines with the compression ratio changed and a few other subtle tweaks but for the most part. Some nobles In the U.K. using the 3.0 variant are upward of 600 reliably. 3.0 will also fit in these with Minimal hassle which would even out the power difference. Regardless they are fun to drive when they are actually putting out their correct power+. Egr valve blocks the inlet on most of these, and rich mixtures to protect the cat cause excessive pressure in the crank case causing the oil to get sucked through the inlet as well. A proper decoke does these the world of good.

So are 70+% of the engines on the road today with smaller displacement putting out the same power, Shame they can’t take 200k in their stride without any major work being done eg cambelt/chain. Some are still on their original clutch at 170k+ The 3.0 got more development but if you have the money, you could have a 300+ N/a.
