My parents met and married in 1943 because of the war. Dad was in the Army Air Corp. and they met at a post dance. Some of my WWII ornaments come from my family before I was born in the 50s. I have a great fondness for them. Merry Christmas all! 🎄

I'd like to thank our American and Canadian cousins for sending aid over the pond in our time of need. Rationing didn't end completely in the UK until 1954. My parents were married on Christmas Eve 1947 and I still have some of their original decorations they bought over the next few years. Last year I bought a silver tinsel tree in their honour, it will never been an Evergleam but I believe there are a few Evergleams in the UK brought over by the US forces stationed here after the war. I don't think they were ever retailed here.

I have one of the tinsel ornaments, same as the yellow ones you showed, only mine are blue. It's little and unassuming and it's one of my faves.

I'm a new collector of vintage ornaments. I'm having a hard time finding ornaments to purchase as I'm very picky about condition. I avoid ornaments with scratches, spots and missing paint. Are my expectations too high? You should do a video on how to grade vintage ornaments and what is acceptable condition to most collectors. Also what to avoid and how to value the different grades. Thank you so much for these videos!

Tough call. There are ornament rescuers and ornament collectors, and each has expectations. Up to you. Perfection comes at a price. Merry Christmas.

I do have a question, though, when these boxes of ornaments were sold, were they sold as solid color sets or mixed color sets? Were they all round, or were they different shapes in each box?

We have a lot to learn about the contents of war box ornaments. Since the box is so rare, the bulbs were likely jumbled to recycle the cardboard. The box I acquired was logically two of nine different bulbs, shapes, colors, tinsels, etc.
