My dream is to own the Dean Martin home -- upgrade the interiors, security, landscape, HVAC etc. BUT structurally, leave everything else exACTly the same. As dreams go, that's not a bad one.

I'm really loving your explorations and explanations, Steve. We have made over 30 trips to PS (we are Londoners (UK)) but are huge desert rats. I feel like I am 'at home' when I watch your channels as you're walking where we used to roam. We haven't been able to travel for a while but as soon as we can and do, we will check out more of the places you have. Particularly loved your gracious video honouring your mother in Quartzite. We used to visit there often to meet a friend who sadly passed last year. Shed a tear for him, watching your video. Now we are deep in our winter I like to view your videos to feel that PS warmth on my skin! Keep on making them. Thank you! And Merry Christmas from the UK.

Loved this video. It's like you can picture how it was like then. I remember my dad telling me of going to Frank Sinatra's home there, and one of the other secret service agents pushed my dad in the pool as a joke...well...he was in his suit still because his luggage was misplaced and Frank Sinatra gave my dad clothes to wear and said he could keep them. Actually got them himself. My dad thought the housekeeper was going to bring the clothes to him. I'd love to go on a tour of mid century modern homes there too.

The stories about Frank go from one extreme to another. For example, one time (and I believe it), Frank got into a quarrel with one of his many girlfriends; she talked politics in front of people, and Frank didn't allow such things. So later he had one of his flunkies ring her bell, and pie her. Now, you'd think Frank would do that himself.

I love hearing about those cool cats from The Rat Pack. The stories those homes can tell! Dean Martin's home is on the market again. It went back on the market last year & I do believe they're asking between $1.4-1.8 Million. Really surprised to hear it's that low. I liked the peek into the kitchen, very kitschy. I can totally imagine the parties, hear the ice clinking in the glasses, pool splashing against the beautiful hills behind the house. I enjoy seeing the Hollywood history & the whole vibe of the era. Have you filmed Jerry's home? Thank you for sharing.

Hi LadyBug! I definitely don’t want to intrude on anyone’s privacy. I would definitely not go into someone’s backyard like other KZbinrs have done. But if the home is empty I don’t think it hurts to look in the window or stand in the driveway. And if someone has a plaque in front of their house promoting it as a celebrity home, I assume that they are not too concerned about their privacy and happy for people to see the home. It’s definitely a fine line though. There are a lot of things I film and never show because I feel like it might be invasive. 👍

That golden era of Hollywood that will never be again. It's such a shame to see Dean's house still looking that way. Do you remember when him and Jeanie had (I believe CBS did the shows) into their home? They showed the house and even the kids were on. Celebrities could never live in house's like that today. One there too small but most importantly, no gates etc to protect them from crazy fans. That wasn't a big issue back then. I don't know about you Steve, but I miss those days. Thanks for the video.

@RB-yg7jw Жыл бұрын
And please don’t forget architect Charles Du Bois who along with Krisel designed many of the homes in Vista Las Palmas. These were tract homes purposely designed on the exteriors to look more custom, but the floorplans are quite similar. A surprising number have maintained the original carports, but many have been enclosed into garages. There are some homes that have been unfortunately extremely muddled, and there might even be a scraper or two, but most are well preserved, and thankfully the PS Preservation Board does a pretty good job of protecting these homes today.

Hi Steve 😊 I loved this video. I also think the houses are "modest" because of who lived in them, you sometimes expect them to be a lot more. I really do hope the Dean Martin one gets renovated, it's a shame to see houses lying empty. Maybe with the exception of Frank Sinatra's place, I find it funny that they were all so open too, no great big walls and gates like some, shall we say, "lesser" (in comparison) celebrities around today have. I love your videos with Scott too and would love to see more. Keep up the good work and thank you for all that you do. Take care and stay safe 😊

After the mysterious death of Marylyn Monroe, back in 1962, some people have said that Frank Sinatra had literally stopped talking to Peter Lawford, for various reasons. Mainly, because Sinatra knew about Peter Lawford’s implications with the Kennedy brothers who were most very likely involved in all the sex scandals with the late actress and that the Rat Pack soul mate himself had unquestionably something to do with the death of Miss Monroe. Thanks, for this magnificent presentation. Johnny, Montréal, Canada.

Hi Steve- Glad to see your still out there. We’re the same age and I just retired Tuesday! Yay for us! Little story: A couple of years ago we went on a European river cruise, I wanted to vlog the trip for KZbin. My sister and husband made fun of me, but I was determined. Well, I got sick the first three days of the trip so there went the vlog.

Congratulations on your retirement Cal Gal! That’s awesome! And boy can I relate about your vlog. Viewers have no idea just how difficult it is to make them. So many things in life get in the way, we’re getting sick. You can be very frustrating, but very rewarding when you finally are able to film some thing that looks and sounds halfway decent 😊👍

I spoke recently to a Palm Springs realator. He said that the Dean Martin house has sold just a few months ago. I believe around 1.7 million. It needs a lot of work....

If it's the same Dean Martin house given to Jeanne, it has been remodeled. Also going for 1.4 million sale . My husband sent me an article about one a few months back as it was called "Tea Dance House" if it's the same one. I collect rat pack music and movies, as well books etc. Listen to all of them but my husband would say It would be Dean Martin, then Sinatra and Sammy Davis mix after that. If it's the same house they changed a lot of the inside décor and designs.

Ahh yes...the dream team of 'Scott on Tape' and 'Retired with Steve' together again. Here's a 'heads-up' for you Scott...Steve is the only dude whom does not kill viewership on your live-stream. Include Steve on your Saturday night vlogs from Canada. This video is undoubtedly one of your best.

LOL thanks John, glad you enjoyed it! I don't think I could stay up late enough to be on on Scott's live-stream :-)

@@TheGraveyardChannel Yes you can brother. Scott's live-streams from Toronto are what a growing number of people look forward to on a Saturday night. I'm thinking the Dream Team could do a live-stream from the site of the 'Meatballs' movie when Scott does a video from the camp-movie location this summer. 'Meatballs' for my generation was the quintessential Canadian movie that empowered us to think for ourselves. Not to have to follow the conforming-crowd. Such a simple premise and story has become legendary. The Dynamic Duo are just the guys to do it. Thanks for keeping it real.

Unfortunately, you’re unlucky to see Peter Lawford’s graveyard because his children refuse to pay his graveyard bills.
