the razer mics are getting thrashed by pretty much all other reviewers, and I think it comes down to the fact that you have such a unique tone to your voice that the pickup on the midtones and less of that deep richness works well to round off your voice to still sound nice and deep, where a lot of people are reporting a lot of nasal tones in that lower end of the highs being beefed up.

I mean I wouldn't recommend it for broadcast purposes like that because they are meant to be close to your mouth, but for a conference call, assuming you don't have a noisy room, should be fine.

The web page for this microphone is just a lie. It claims "Whether you’re an industry vet or a professional-to-be, enjoy top-notch voice clarity and quality thanks to its suite of high-end features." And well, I compared it to some actual studio equipment Like a Neumann U87 AI, Shure SM7B, AKG C414 XLII, Earthworks SV33 and a lot more. Safe to say the Razer Siren V2 doesn't compare to any of them, I wish i had some USB mics to compare it to, but sadly I have none in my mic locker. I can understand most people don't have the money to shell out on some expensive mics, and I don't mean the Siren is a bad microphone. I'm just saying that the stuff on the website is false and not true, I know that streamers don't really want to get into audio interface's and mixers, so I guess for them this is a good microphone for a relatively cheap price.
@MiscastJoe2 жыл бұрын
Agreed that the USB market needs to stop saying studio quality.. Razer is not the only culprit of this. Every single microphone I have reviewed has the exact same claim on their website. For the needs of a streamer or any other creator who doesn't require a full on recording studio, this will meet their needs perfectly. The expensive studio mics are overkill for them.
@michalbochenski43292 жыл бұрын
@@MiscastJoe most people buying these microphones are wanna be streamers and youtubers such as kids/teenagers which don't know any better. Usually, they ask their parents to buy them these microphones but parents are smarter than them so they look up the microphones and find themselves on the companys page on which it says keywords such as "studio quality" and "professional sounding". Recently me and my friend were on omegle and seeing these kids with over the top pc's with RGB, and we asked them: "what's the microphone you're using?" And all of them were using USB mic's. One of these kids asked us back what mics were using and my friend told him: "the mics were using costs more than you're entire setup" and kid was like: "alright bet." So we explained to him what vocal chain we were using and he looked up the mic we were using (which were the earthworks sv33 and the neumann u87 ai) going into a Universal audio LA 610 mk2 that went into a universal audio x8, and he told us: "you spend that much money on microphones?" And I burst out laughing and my friend told him : "yeah we did" and hung up. My friend still jokes about that kid haha.

@@michalbochenski4329 yeah there are a million use cases for high end mic setups. Streaming and even podcasting are not among those use cases. You can do enough with Vista to sound good and the amount of compression on that sound by the time it passes through twitch/youtube or any podcast platform and you have lost everything that makes a great mic special.
@michalbochenski43292 жыл бұрын
@@MiscastJoe I do somewhat agree with you're opinion, but during the compression process you don't loose everything that a mic is special in, If that were the case Everybody would be using USB microphones instead of high quality XLR microphones such as the SM7B for example. No one would buy high quality microphones for their audio setups because whats the reason then? Microphones like the Neumann U87 AI would be obsolete because they don't have anything special to them anymore unless you're going to be recording in a studio and playing back with studio monitors.
@MiscastJoe2 жыл бұрын
@@michalbochenski4329 well the simplest answer is that everything that existed before streaming still has a place for those mics. Music, voice work, radio plays, etc. Things that are actually done in a studio. Anyone who knows anything about microphones who use expensive mics on stream will all tell you the same thing. "I am using it because I already had it." People who know little about microphones that use expensive mics all say the same thing. "I asked what people thought was the best mic." I know the compression rates of KZbin, twitch, apple Podcasts, etc. You will never hear a quality boost that is equal to the amount it costs, and that is the whole point of the video. Many of the best content creators (some who own serious equipment) still use usb mics or something like the podmic because in the end, they know it doesn't make enough of a difference to matter. Audiophiles will hear a difference, but they don't make up large percentages of a viewing audience for a stream that most people are watching on their phone. I hear the difference between what I record on my end and what plays back on stream and it is night and day how much the audio is butchered by compression. My podmic sounds good because I learned to compensate for that a bit. I would be very bad at what I do if I recommended shelling out big bucks on a microphone for this level of content creation, no matter how much I love me some gear.

If anything I would go the other way and run everything through your software and use the one stream output to put into streamlabs. First and foremost a noise gate will help that. Depending on how clicky that keyboard is though, there may be no getting rid of it completely. If not a noise gate find a VST set with an expander. It essentially does the same job except it reduces the audio and doesn't cut off the mic signal altogether.
