The gears are easy to replace if you pay attention to how they came out. You need moly grease to reassemble too. The gears cost about 5 bucks and the servo costs 40. If the motor is still making noise, get the gears... You must pay attention to hooking up the linkage. The arm hooked to the servo must be 1 notch to the right, not straight up. If you don't do this, you will strip more gears. Watch a few vids to see what I am talking about before doing the job.

What size pinion and spur gear do you use? I have a titan setup that I don't want to go to waste but I'm trying it on my lcg slash and I tryed a bunch of different sized figured I'd ask what your using im not familiar with the xl5 and titan motor setup I just put brushless Velenion motors right away also did it this way because local hobby shop at the time didn't have the VXL in stock... Thank you!

I’m running a 90t 48p spur gear, accompanied by a 12t pinion. The part number for the spur gear is 4690. I don’t have the pinion number handy, but any pinion with the same pitch and tooth size of choice will work 👍

Wicked video man, awesome advise, but what is it if the wheels turn slow when truck standing still, maybe fully one way but when driving around they turn, and when truck is off the ground they turn fully both ways, what do you reckon, many thanks
@TheRCGenius5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Do you have different tires on your truck? Larger tires could make more weight and cause the servo to turn slower.
@gonzodetroitify5 жыл бұрын
@@TheRCGenius I'm assuming there standard by the looks of the videos unboxing, I've checked the servo teeth on arm and unit, apart from going in leaning towards buying stronger 20kg or something and see what happens,
@mattjones36962 жыл бұрын
From what I've learned (same issue) the tires have so much traction, the servo can't turn the tire all the way unless its rolling. I know this comment is 2 years old, but still 🤷♂️

Ok rc genius, do you know where to get the actual electronic motors for a steering servo.
@benforsman44245 жыл бұрын
Great vid. So how do you know when it's the steering servo or just a bad servo saver?
@TheRCGenius5 жыл бұрын
Ben Forsman thank you! When there is an issue, you can simply disconnect the servo saver and diagnose the issue.

Can someone tell me a list of parts that are compatible on all nitros I.E. are all servos compatible, are all drive shafts compatible?
@TheRCGenius4 жыл бұрын
Usually servos are the same size, unless the vehicle is a different scale. The best way to find compatible parts for your RC is to find a parts finder on an RC website. You could also look up the parts diagram for your vehicle, those usually give you the optional parts as well. Hopefully you found this helps.

So I put the servo in and it completely doesn't work the connections are good but the servo when we turned on the car turned to the right and we turned it off and turned it to the left and it stayed in that position when we turned it back on and now it doesn't move it has brand new gears and we did every step we did as another youtuber showed us how to put it together
@fischerrice3 жыл бұрын
If you are wondering we have the traxxas rustler
@TheRCGenius3 жыл бұрын
Is the servo in the right channel? It should be plugged into channel 1 on the receiver, but there are two Channel 1s. Make sure that you are plugged into the Channel 1 that is closest to Channel 2. If there was a short or other electrical issue, it is possible that the servo is fried. Is this servo new? Or have you only replaced the gears?

Stripped 3 of the 2075 servos in 2 months so defs not worth switching to anything plastic

Amazon sells a great servo for $16. Aluminum case and all metal gears. I currently have 4 of them in use.
