I had a couple people ask me to do a little closer look at glueing the servo saver on the scx24 to help the stock servo perform a bit better so here it is! Betty does work on the real rocks!

Greetings ALL from across the pond 🇬🇧 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🖐️🤠 SXC24 SERVO SAVER MOD/FIX We found a very simple work around Mod/FIX for the Stock SCX24 Servo Saver; making it more postive working with no more struggle when running stock or after adding front axle weight in the form of brass wheel weights, knuckles or the like. (which normally burns up a stock servo over time) 😌 In our humble opinion this scale doesn't require a servo with a saver spring or mechanism. SERVO SAVER Mod/FIX....... This method IS simple, non messy, no glue, no special o-rings, or custom washers. Should you ever wish to revert the original stock servo & it's servo horn pieces back with saver spring, you can because no glue was used. 👍 *REMOVE & REPLACE Servo Saver SPRING: We found the perfect item to replace the spring to be a little Plastic Bead! No need to modify plastic bead either; just slip plastic bead onto the servo screws threaded shank; it's a press fit; so press bead all the way up threaded shank to head of screw. Then place back servo horn pieces as they were and tighten down with modded servo screw with bead. We tighten screw squashing plastic bead in cavity where spring was; tightening down so head of screw will be as it was with spring. Job done! (EASIER DONE than explained in writing! 😂) Here's two links to the exact bead; > In 🇬🇧 it's called a Hama Bead: www.hamabeads.com/about-us/ > In 🇺🇸 I believe they're called Fuse Beads. www.amazon.com/Perler-Beads-Crafts-6000pcs-Black/dp/B013TS50NQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=hama+beads&qid=1609246026&sr=8-11 I believe the popular brand there in 🇺🇸 is called: 'Perler' The beads come in many colours; check em out 👀 As we say here 🇬🇧: 'Cheap as Chips' (chips = 🍟) it's a British thing! 🤣 feedback welcome 🤔 ROCK ON! 🖐️🤠

That was a great tip! I've just did this "hama bead" mod today and hope my stock servo will last long enough until the upgraded Emax servo arrives. The steering has inproved a lot because of this mod. I think the glueing also works but this was less hassle 😄✌

We are very lucky in my area! This was a new spot for me. I’ve passed by it before and figured there was some good crawling but my buddy checked it out and told me I had to go sometime lol. We thankfully have several places similar in the general area. It definitely makes crawling a blast!

Ohh I'm not the only one then to do this., I just lifted the shell and dropped a dab of superglue on the saver joint. Waited 10mins and good to go. Vast improvement. Honestly don't think I need to upgrade servo.. Well until it burns out.

The lighting is good. The hard part is that most of it is black on black in a shadow. Maybe some kind of pen led light you can clip to your shirt? No clue if that would help or make it worse. Just an idea. Or maybe the LEDs that go on a hat?
@2fmrc
@2fmrc 3 жыл бұрын
@@gfyracing7632 I’m going to order a light to put behind me. A big ring light. I think the black on black don’t show well because most of my good lighting is sort of behind the truck or in front of me. If there was more from behind me I think it would help. We shall find out! Lol. Thanks for the input! I want to make it the best I can for everyone.

If it burns up don't blame me😂 I've never burned up any of those stock ones and I bought a set of 10 replacements because I was worried they would all die🙄 I've been making little bushings out of a large o ring that I cut and punch a small hole in. Clears up 90% of that steering slop.... haven't glued one yet...I'll give it a shot!
@joegadd
@joegadd 3 жыл бұрын
To anyone thinking of doing this: if you have wheel weights, don't. The plastic gears in the stock servo cannot reliably handle the stresses of the stock truck, that's why there's the saver in the first place. in my experience with these trucks, the stock servo melts its gears very quickly when the saver is removed. Just get a stronger metal geared servo as soon as you can, and keep the saver on the stock one till the new bits arrive in the mail.
@2fmrc
@2fmrc 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah a new servo is definitely best. I have a couple of these that have been running for months glued together though. One has been turning mudslingers since they were released lol. To me the stock servo is trash straight out of the box anyway so I may as well make it work a little better & get some use out of it before it dies 😂 I had about 8 of them piled in my toolbox. Figured I’d start glueing them and killing them 1 by 1 instead of collecting them for no reason.
@joegadd
@joegadd 3 жыл бұрын
@@2fmrc That makes a lot of sense if you've got several kicking around for sure then! I may have had a bit of bad luck, but after I deleted the servo saver mine died about 40 seconds later, just driving on flat ground. I had the c10, my first rc truck in 10 years, and I was super disappointed to have it die so fast after I bought it. went to the local shop, and he had nothing in stock parts wise so I impulse bought the Betty for something to drive while I have 2 fresh Savox servos in the mail lol.
@2fmrc

@@joegadd heck yeah! The Betty is killer anyway lol. I’ve heard a few people say theirs died shortly after doing it so that’s why I age a bit of a warning lol. you can just take out the screw and put a washer on it and then put it back. Because its now tight up against the washer, the servo saver can't move and hey presto done.

Great video. What size hex screwdriver 🪛 do you need for the steering servo horn screw? I've found out that my 1.5mm is too small and my 2.0mm is too large. Very strange screws are on these axial scx24's. The other ones in the car are also weird sizes. I had to buy a 1.3mm for the other small ones, but that one doesn't fit the steering horn screw 🤨

@@seanshepard2401 I would think so but they are very close to rubbing on my plastic hubs so I’m not sure. If you’re wanting to widen it I’d definitely check on the kinetic widening kit.
