I started reading in English and French few months ago but I stopped because I found a lot of new vocabulary and I was hesitated between looking up about each word meaning or just coming across and continue to read. I fell so frustrated and disappointed about my week vocabulary. But now, I think that I won't struggle again because I will use your method. Thanks a lot 💝💝💝

First book I've ever read in English was "A Walk to Remember" by N.Sparks. And I could read it extensively, there were very few unknown words probably because it is quite a modern book with simple language. Another easy book is "The Beach" by Alex Garland, it is also written in modern and simple language. There is a bit of slang vocabulary but it seemed useful to know it. One more great book is "Gone with the wind", at first it seemed too complicated to me, especially those sophisticated descriptions of nature and people's looks, in addition there were lots of obsolete and archaic vocabulary. I simply couldn't get the idea of a character's appearance without looking up every second adjective. But after several pages it became quite easy since I had already memorized some 'new' words and I could recognize them further in the book. If you survived the introduction and description parts, you can really enjoy the rest. Later after having read the book, I wanted to use the vocabulary I'd learned and it was a tricky thing because I always had this fear to say something in an old-fashioned way.

Here are some of the books I've read and recommend Tales of Mystery and Imagination, Edgar Allen Po - Sherlock Holmes Short Stories, Arthur Conan Doyle both for intermediate to advanced level. Four Weddings And a Funeral by Richard Curtis, Cherry Gilchrist for Intermediate Level. Reading biographies can be a fun way to engage with the story and not put the book down. Cheers!

Hi jack, Thank you again for this useful video, you have an amazing way to explain everything. Well, to be frank, I used to use intensive reading, and because of this method, I get bored sometimes because I feel like every word is new for me, I had to look for its meaning every time; moreover it takes a lot of time to complete the book. That's why I think I should choose the extensive reading which will probabely help me to enjoy the book and also to gain new words after highlighting them. Thank you very much again.

My first fiction book in English was Terry Pratchett's "Mort". My friends tried to stop me: "It's to hard, you won't inderstand his British humor in a foreign language". Yes, sometimes it was hard. But I didn't have to understand every single word. And no one has. I think if your goal is to read in a foreign language, you should focus on mening rather than grammar and new words. Kato Lomb read "Dead Souls" with no prior knowledge of russian (but with Hungarian-English and English-Russian dictionaries). It's really crucial to find right book. Rereading is also great advice. Thank you for video.

Hello! Always I love reading and I hate grammar rules, tense. Even my mother language. When I understand this I have over the forty, but still I believe that I'll learning English fluently. I have been studying English my own methods which consists to reading books. The first of all I bought Anne of Green Gables ( I love this book when I was teenagers) and I'm stuck. Then I've changed it to Nicholas sparks and I love it! ( Notebook and the message in a bottle I'll be almost finished) .The words ale more modern and useful and when I'm reading I can't watch the movie, and is the great connection for me. I know that my English is not beginner and not mastery and I make a lot of mistakes. I think that when you read something in foregin language your brain changed. And I'm looking some person on You tube as you who give free advice how to read better... Thanks you for all advice.

I reckon this book is suitable for intermediate English learners because there is widely use of complex vocabulary and phrase .
