One way that we are different is that I avoid fiction that I suspect will make me cry! I think reading tastes change as we, as people, change, but the older you get, the more slowly they change, you will see! Hope your Dad is recuperating and all is well in your world. Take care!

I thought of you as I was answering that first question as I know you don’t like fiction that makes cry! Very true. Thank you for your kind words about my dad. I appreciate that. I hope all is well with you. Take care! ❤️

It’s so fascinating to reflect on reading tastes. And it’s only a good thing imo, if it changes and adapts and grows bc the more we expose ourselves to/delve into that goes beyond our comfort zone, the more our experiences of these varieties shape what we like. I also really appreciate the curious nature in wanting to try sth new once in a while. And it’s also a beautiful thing when we find sth we feel comforted by or comfortable with. Oh, and btw, your one sentence summed your taste up perfectly as I see it, and love the delightful self-awareness - and charm - when you said that paragraphs are more your thing. Haha. - Thinking of you and wishing you and your family all the best 🫶

You are so right, so interesting to look back and I’m sure glad my reading tastes have changed. All those brilliant books I’ve found! I’m glad my sentence summed me up, but as you know it was difficult to keep it to one sentence! 😂 Thank you friend, I appreciate that!

Hi Jack! Thank you for the lovely and interesting video! My reading taste has changed a lot too, I used to be a big YA and fantasy reader in my teens and early 20s. I think booktube has played a big role, as it introduced me to a lot of new genres and authors. Queer fiction has a special place in my heart, but I also like historical fiction and literary fiction, even if sometimes I struggle with the latter when it gets "too literay". These past years I've also enjoyed memoirs a lot. Though honestly I'd try almost any book, as long as it's not a horror. 😂

I’m very much a classics reader. But I have a few absolute favourite queer books in amongst everything else, that I’ve re-read sooo many times, I love them that much. The first is The Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon. It’s a murder/crime series with bookshop owner Adrien English and a love story woven in. Love it. Second is the hilarious and heartwarming The Lightning Struck Heart by TJ Klune. This is a series to but the first book is easily a stand alone and I’ve read it multiple times. I’ve laughed hard, and cried quietly many times when reading it and who doesn’t want a gay hornless Bitchy/sassy unicorn as a best friend? The third is another TJ Klune book called Into This River I Drown. Omg. This book. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions and made me SOB. It’s basically a book about the love and grief. Love between a father and son, love of a family, love for a best friend 🥺 and falling in love. It has that magical/realism that Klune has in his books and I just absolutely love it.
