Next one should be the ball protection layup. A very useful move that is taught as a fundamental for finishing around the basket in Europe, but not in the USA. You lay the ball up with one hand and use the off hand to block the defender's hand trying to block/contest you at the rim. This can be used for hook shots also.

Great suggestion - probably not enought footage to make a whole video on it. But i'll mention it in a future video about taking contact while finiahing around the rim.

Have you thought about making a video on Scottie Pippen? I think he’d be a great player for young players to emulate.

Kinda did this naturally cause I was so used to jumping off the left. Eventually added both to the bag tho
@CoachFrikki
@CoachFrikki 3 жыл бұрын
@@abbyik7357 Definitely best to have both in the 👜. But too many coaches out there discouraging their players from doing the "natural" left handed layup - forcing them to take 2 steps and jumping off their worse foot. Driving left I'd teach the 1 step layup first to a beginner.

I write in my right hand but I prefer left handed lay ups and hookshots is this normal because my right hand is always my hand dominant but when I play basketball I'm always use left hand can anyone explain me what is this

Do you think the fake is mostly unintentional, and players do it only because it feels natural?

Do u think a regular left hand play up is still useful or no?
@CoachFrikki
@CoachFrikki 3 жыл бұрын
It's definitely useful. A lot of times you have to take 2 steps - against good defenses you can't always take an extra dribble and you need that 2 step finish in your bag. And some players (Booker, Kyrie, Jrue) are naturally really good at jumping off their right leg and finishing with their left hand. But when teaching beginners their first lefty layup. I'd teach the one in the video first.

Are you sure your supposed to jump with ur left foot I always use my right foot that’s how I was taught. My coach used to says it’s better that way
@wifee3848
@wifee3848 2 жыл бұрын
Although it does not matter too much, I t really depends. You should be using which ever leg will help keep defenders away, which in many cases is the opposite

Jump with left foot to throw off defend but it suppose to mirror your right hand lay up so I suggest jumping with opposite foot
