So... Cole stayed himself while Drake tried to shift between personas? Yeah, a bunch of people have been calling Drake soft and a bunch of homophobic crap, but there are also a bunch of "haters" that don't like him for perfectly good reasons. Kanye is from the suburbs, so is Yatchy, no one makes fun of them for it; Cole is half white, no fucks given; Canibus is Jamaican, most people don't know or don't care. The problem with Drake is the artifcial personas he creates of being relatable then mobster, a black guy that never talked about black community issues on his music while profiting off of it, a jewish guy that distanced himself from his ethnicity when being associated with it looked bad... He's never ten toes down, he's a camaleon and hip hop culture doesn't ride with that.

@@TeezyfolKKz word. idk if it killed her career tho. sundial came out after and was well-received, and she dropped one of her bigger songs (rainforest) in 2021 after all this. she was always underground and independent anyway i have a hard time seeing her wanting to cross over more than she had. but im sure it changed how some people saw her no doubt

@ “well received” buddy that album didn’t perform well at ALL. If you’re making a video based on 2024 not going Cole or Drake’s way, my guy NOTHING has gone Noname’s way since. You forgot she spazzed on stage and said she’s “tired of black people not supporting her,All these white faces… blah blah” She had the world’s attention… didn’t share one book. Didn’t have anything of substance to say. She wrote a largely forgettable record that she won’t even call a diss record. She herself apologized, but the “culture” was stuck on the queen tone bs. In closing, go buy her shit. “Well received” has done nothing for her. Her words not mine.

@@TeezyfolKKz the white fanbase stuff was in 2019 before the cole thing though. if I had to guess that probably affected her numbers more than the cole situation. you're not wrong that sundial streamed less than her older projects but it's honestly not that much worse off than room 25 streams-wise especially since room 25 has a 5 year headstart. if anything sundial is missing the standout track to really push it. she got another npr tiny desk in 2023 that's a pretty good look. the numbers are down a bit compared to the first one though. it's just hard to compare someone like noname who wants to stay in her lane to someone like cole or drake who is clearly striving for huge numbers, a part of the major label system, etc etc. I'm probably a little biased because I like her music a lot lol. especially telefone. totally fair critiques of how she handled the situation on your end. she prob feels the same way to an extent!

Subbed before 10k and I know you're going there and beyond. I checked out your music and it's not for me but I see the appeal. I don't like a lot of music, like not in a hipster way its kind of embarrassing listening to music with people I think it's a problem with my brain and/ or ears. That's a long tangent just to say don't listen to my the fact I don't like you're music (I don't dislike it though). That being said your videos 100% won me over. I ran through most of your videos while working today and you've earned a potential life long fan today. I hope nothing but the best for your career as a content creator, musician, and teacher.

I think you hit it close to head on in that it’s a career path thing. I think the one thing that WILL always help Drake and Cole is that the fans chose them. Drake wasn’t chosen by hip hop media or fellow hip hop heads, we the people decided he was going to be the one. Cole languished for a while and then the internet decided after 2014 FHD that enough was enough and his time was now. I think Drake was the most relatable up until Scorpion that he no longer felt the need to while Cole probably knew his fanbase hasn’t grown too large to the point he could just stop being the “college” guy so to speak

COLE has always been on the same wavelength as drake tho it act both arent pop rappers one is just more sincere than the other but that doesnt impact the musicality of them i will admit cole has good beats but his lyrics dont hit for me but i cannot say the same for drake so thats a one up

The song musically sounds great, but the lyrics aged horribly. "Big as the what? Big as the Super Bowl." Kendrick gets his 2nd Super Bowl Performance and becomes the first rapper to be the solo headliner. "We the big 3 like we started the league." Kendrick responds, "F the big 3, it's just big me, " and proceeds to prove it. The say, "The status is stadium." The haven't done a stadium tour, but Kendrick announces a stadium tour.
@spiridonrobert165 күн бұрын
@yugfus exactly îs not just "oh the kendrick drama îs big "and right on point like the song îs still one of the decent songs from Drake album but looking as a number 1 hit IT doesn t look that good taking those details in mind
