what i think is i think its hard for lyrical rappers to blow up in this day of age u seen the attempts of some like ybn cordae or joeybadass etc they cant seem to stick but if these lyrical rappers find a way to stick there gonna be here for a long time allah j cole k dot drake idk if people dont like lyrical rap or its just taking too long to blow up making a big 3 probaly hard to replicate
@hadjitube2 күн бұрын
yeah blowing up is all relative, i think its a great time to be a lyrical rapper who stays independent and feeds their fanbase directly but trying to crossover at the same time is where they might run into some issues

Haven’t watched the video yet but just letting it be known that people treat Ethel’s music ironically not because they don’t understand its significance (how could you not, it shoves the messaging down your throat so hard I thought it wouldn’t call me back the next day), but because her music is bland, boring, unoriginal, and oftentimes painful to listen to

Well, if someone as chill as Cole can't even say "We the Big 3" without someone taking offense, I guess rappers just ain't allowed to be friends anymore. That said, there will always be a "Big 3". Cole had made a title that will stick. There will always be the top 3 rappers on the Hip-Hop polls, that's something the Culture can't just ignore

He didn’t just say that, he continued to say he’s Mohammed Ali literally on the next line. Plus Drake took shots himself by claiming only Him and Cole matters
@thalmoragent93442 күн бұрын
@KingPOTB Yeah, but that's not exactly a diss to the others. He kept saying they were all in the top 3, and despite saying he felt like Muhammad Ali, he also then says he feels like he's still equals with Drake (Spiderman meme) so it's clear that even though he of course feels great about himself, he recognizes the other two as his closest colleagues in the Rap Game. I don't know how the hell someone like Kendrick could take offense and make a jab at Cole for that. Drake I understand he doesn't like, but Cole?

Nonsense! The very essence of hip-hop is claiming that you’re the best! Despite the “Big Three” from J. Cole, in that very same verse, he calls himself the greatest. The Best. Why? Because EVERY MCEE for 50 YEARS has called himself/herself the best. There’s no such thing as a Big Three. Either you’re the king/queen or you’re not. That’s hip-hop.

I've been seeing alot of people lately saying that nobody takes anything seriously anymore... I disagree, or maebe I just dont get it. I surf the web quite a bit and I see plenty of people taking things seriously. Just because people enjoy joking around for fun doesnt mean they don't take anything seriously. Maebe most of the irony is just going over my head or something idk...

just start making music! its like planting a tree - best time was 10 years ago, second best time is right now. dont worry about promotion or getting rich and famous or anything yet just make the shit, download a DAW (digital audio workstation) like ableton, logic, or FL studio. itll depend on what kind of computer you have. if youre young or dont have a computer or whatever you can even use bandlab on your phone. but yea start there. if you need help choosing try some reddit threads. i use ableton tho. and if youre already there then yea just keep making shit

“She could have dropped this as a stand alone album.” No she couldn’t have. 1) the songs aren’t as good as the ones in Ctrl or SOS and 2) 6 of the songs have been previously released or leaked. Had she presented this as a new album people would have complained. I think it’s a smart marketing strategy to out the gate present this as an extension of her previous album cycle. It also has a lot to do with the “Deluxe” terminology being so synonymous with hip hop and pop fans all over. Can you imagine Gorillaz dropping The Fall: Plastic Beach Deluxe back in 2010? No. Don’t hate the player, hate the game. If the album as a medium is dying it’s because we let it die.
@hadjitube7 күн бұрын
idk i think some of the songs could hold up. but i feel you. probably not all of them (after a few more listens). i didnt wanna judge it too quickly on that end in the video off 1-2 listens. people def would have complained - i think the truth is people will complain literally no matter what hahah. plastic beach is a classic. and the deluxe term at this point should just be about whatever makes sense for the artist and the project. and for a multi platinum album like SOS why not throw 15 more on there haha
@Eli-jw8mx7 күн бұрын
It’s more than fitting especially when we consider that she’s parting ways with punch. Yes SOS album is lengthy now even more so but I don’t see it as an issue. Songs are personal and the release of Lana feels like SZA moving on and forward closing out her SOS chapter. SZA now on her own seems to be eager to release more music so we may get an official album from her next year. Also she’s going on tour with Kendrick. So I don’t think her releasing Lana as a deluxe is simply for the role out it’s everything to do with her mental and where she was and is at.
@hadjitube7 күн бұрын
is she actually parting ways? i saw conflicting stuff haha but yeah i agree the deluxe makes sense FOR HER and at the end of the day its all about what makes sense for the project

A lot of (extreme) metal albums from bands I like still do stories, themes and concepts in their album. It's just the mainstream that doesn't do this. A lot of these bands never release deluxe versions because their story is already complete instead of just single tracks released at once woth no connection etc. And if they do it's mostly like 2 special songs or covers from other artists. Of youre into that kind of music I highly recommend from mars to sirius by gojira (its a lot older though), terminal redux by vektor and pain remains by lorna shore (came out last year I think)

I hate how many immature rotten people are missusing the word based and don't know what it means or were it comes from. Whenever I see some edgy 13 year old call another guy based because he thinks homophobic slurs and hating on women is cool because his disgusting personality gets him no btches I instantly report to the basedgod. Curses flying left and right to humble and teach their misguided egos. They're getting a strong debuff until they mature and find out how to treat other beings. The most based thing is love. Love always wins, always evolves. TYBG

Most forget the most obvious reason. The label. Labels MAKE artist's by the most part drop deluxe albums. Just another way of putting more sales on the album. Same thing they do with "greatest hits" album even when the artist wasn't even retired. Usually just sponsored partnership which makes alternative specific albums aswell. It's almost never the artist's decision to make a deluxe half the time. Usually just contractual agreements to the amount of albums they will owe.
@hadjitube9 күн бұрын
for sure yea. it becomes the best option for an artist who wants to drop but the label only gives them this avenue to do so. i kinda said it but not as straightforward
@crowing38869 күн бұрын
@hadjitube i remember when mj was getting out of his deal. He said he owed 2 more albums, a greatest hits and deluxe and for people not to buy them lol. Most artist's aren't independent nor are on a roster. Nor are most artist's given such freedom. Now idk how TDE works but the deluxe for Lana works for sza because she took 5 YEARS to drop sos. She said she had over 100 tracks made in that period. So it would only make sense for her deluxe to have a lot of song. Though on the other hand kendrick dropped that damn deluxe which was the same album but the tracks were in reverse. Goofy and a cheap cash grab compared.
@pienntt9 күн бұрын
I like that Peggy and Danny did the EP follow-up in a more clean and proper way, I think. On the other hand, the deluxe version SZA did seems like a fun way to, as you said earlier, provide fan service and give people what they've been asking for.
