The Real Economic Challenge: Addressing Taxation, Deregulation, and Energy Policy

You started off by saying that you're inheriting a state of the economy that hasn't been seen for decades. But let's remember, when Labour last left office, there was a banking sector crisis and a £250B bailout had to be engineered by the Bank of England to save the banks. When Labour came to office in 1997, the country was in fantastic financial health, and when they left, it was broken.
Today, we face the highest debt since World War II, the highest levels of taxation as a percentage of GDP since World War II, and six million people surviving on universal credit-that's 20% of the workforce. The challenge is immense. Taxing the economy into the ground is not the solution. We need to deregulate the economy, which won't happen under Keir Starmer. He was caught unawares in Montreal, admitting that he plans to align us completely with the EU, effectively marching in lockstep with them.
The EU is a bureaucratic, highly regulated organization. We face more government spending, more taxation, more regulations from the EU, and an ideological drive to net zero by 2050. This economic emasculation, turning our backs on North Sea oil and gas, has left us dependent on liquefied natural gas imported from the USA. There is no mechanism by which this country can deliver its energy needs using renewables alone, and changing the ownership of these renewables won't solve the problem. #ReformUK #EconomicPolicy #UKPolitics #EnergyCrisis #Taxation #questiontime
