@@anironfarm6056 winning defense of planets is determined by who manages to fill up their victory bar first. Either we fill up our victory bar before the time limit or we lose the planet . When the DSs moved we stopped gaining points for control of the planet. So even though the DSs stalled the enemies progression and gave us an extra 10 hours we didn't gain any points towards victory

There's just so many ways to make the barrage fun and they picked the one with the least player agency that leads to the most deaths 1.) Have a special "DSS Barrage" stratagem that each team only has 1 of and as long as it's in an area, there's a nonstop 380mm barrage with no cooldown 2.) Keep the random barrage but give each shell a warning light like the meteor strike planetary hazard 3.) Make all the orbital stratagems work like the eagles where you get 2-5 uses per stratagem before needing to rearm, and make the cool down something like 90 seconds 4.) On any given operation let you play 1 mission as a "DSS Gunner" like the Call of Duty missions where you pilot a helicopter, AC-130, spy plane etc. We already have the hellpod system, targeting and piloting orbital cannons shouldn't be that hard to implement. 5.) Just give us 1 or 2 free barrage stratagems each mission

I think that if our scientists make a laser designator or a GPS guidance system, the DSS could remain mostly the same, but at least we could somewhat aim its firepower. My idea is to either allow us to use a laser designator that causes most of the orbital or eagle strikes to be near the designated area, or make it so pings on the map do the same thing as the laser pointer, but you don’t need direct line of sight.

I just find it funny that the first deployment of the orbital bombardment we were given free shield bubbles. I would be fine as is if we at least had warning on the impact zones like the asteroid strikes. Alternatively, instead of random shots around the map, have it be like our stratagems and have a light land first on where barrages would be hitting, then we could plan around it.

The orbital barrage took about 2 of my reinforcements in exchange for clearing...what, a jammer and detector tower, and helping clear one other main objective? I'd say Super Earth's math checks out. I may be a High Command skeptic, but I have no qualms about the DSS so far.

I was playing on mastia and i recorded one of our missions. We got injured 28 times, killed 7 times, and ran out of reinforcements at the end, only for the DSS to blow the last guy up even tho he wasn't even in combat

Funny enough, I have a faction that can fit with all that is said here, not chaos Divers, but Renegade squadron, a squad of former Helldivers who were among the best of the best, not far behind Brash or John Helldiver themselves, who turned rogue with their entire destroyer crew to make their own operations and agenda, they aren't friends with anyone, bugs, bots, other Helldivers, they only kill who or what must be killed to complete their mission, but they do hope that fallen Helldivers killed by them will understand and forgive them once their current goal is achieved, and that goal is to expose Super Earth, while Chaos Diver are only staying there and do nothing, Renegade squad actually tries to do something while remaining in the shadows, they already managed to seize proof that Super Earth command and entire government just care about them and only them and everything else is lies, no real Democracy or liberty and this war is just a way for them to ensure they will stay in power. However they will not expose or publish undeniable proof before the majority of Helldivers think their way, even if not at 100%. The DSS failure is just for them a powerful proof to add to their already quite big collection of proof. Command and Super Citizen called them Renegades and the squad as a way to mock them, take the name as their official one. Identify these Divers is very difficult, since they will not kill other Divers or do something suspicious unless told to by their leaders. They do not wear any particular armor or main weapon since it will only make them easy spotted targets, they blend in with other units and wait the signal to carry out their true mission. Identifying their destroyers is also impossible since their names constantly change without command knowing it, so for SEAF command, the name they see on paper will never be the one in the sky
