I was working for a large financial institution in the wealth management department for over 12 years, 6 of those were in Atlanta. He was a prospect for the banker I was supporting so, I was in the meeting. He brought like 3 assistants with him and couldn’t really give us real asset numbers but had extensive “demands” or desires is probably a better word. When we finally got his financials we realized he didn’t qualify to be in Wealth Management because at the time you needed $1M in liquidity. He didn’t qualify with personal assets or business assets. I found this video and I’m embarrassed to admit that during the pandemic, I chose to learn about real estate and I purchased an online real estate course from Jay Morrison’s legacy center. It was for a few weeks and I paid close to $400. I learned the absolute basics of real estate and looking back I could have learned the same or more from watching KZbin for free or purchasing a book like he suggested in the video. While enrolled in the course, I received countless emails about other courses and calls from his workers at the legacy center about other deals. Thankfully, I only took that course but it’s really crazy to learn he’s a scammer.

You're doing God's work here Spencer. During the subprime crisis about 2006-2008, I got heavy into the guru scene. I ran real estate clubs in Chicago and even produced a real estate conference with a friend (small scale). I even had my own training program where I taught Chicago investors how to buy houses in Indiana for 8-12k a piece (which was totally true at the time) and start in the rental game. Producing the conference is what soured me on the whole thing. I got a peak behind the curtain on these gurus and figured out how little money they were actually worth. Believe it or not I did this while I had a dad who actually is a successful real estate investor and quietly goes about his business managing apartments, strip malls and a few houses. It's so easy for people to get sucked into this crap. Real estate is REAL WORK. It is not an armchair investment by any stretch of the imagination. If you want armchair real estate, buy into a REIT. I started raising the alarm about a year or so ago that the same guru crap that was sold 2006/2008 was raising its head up again. I'm glad I'm not the only one to see it.

I went to high school with a 'best selling author.' It turns out that label is possible because a small newspaper named his book 'a worthy best seller.' Pretty sure he sold maybe two thousand books, if that.
@J-D-P2 жыл бұрын
Still, he may not be financially successful, but if 2000 people read his book.....and if it changed the life of just one person....that's heavy. Not everything is about money and faux success. As that all success is, an illusion.

Charles, it’s too long to explain in detail but you are right and it’s essentially legal for anyone for anyone to claim “best seller”. And it’s the fault of the New York Times. Any time I hear the whole "rags to riches, criminal to mogul/influencer" story, I tune out immediately. Mainly because what happens to the guys is that when they get locked up, they realize they need to trade hustles for something less risky and that won't land them in prison again. That why real estate, you can go broke and lose property, but that's not a crime unless you're committed fraud. The only way I can take your seriously is if you present your degrees and actually studies of real estate and the market, not talk to me like some battle rapper and expect my to buy your bullshit.

Be carful with the “degrees”. I don’t have any and do very well (but I’m also not selling stuff to viewers or even trying to get viewers). Buying the right stock is so much easier said than done. Anyone can see a stock that’s performed well in the past, but anticipating the performance of a stock in the future is much more difficult. If you want to succeed by investing in individual stocks, you have to be prepared to do a lot of work to analyze a company and manage the investment. Or preferably get a financial advisor
@Fernandolopez-yh2bk2 жыл бұрын
As an investor, the stock market offers you the opportunity to increase your income without taking on the high risks that are usually associated when venturing in other businesses. By selling stocks, the company raises capital and is able to expand itself exponentially. Therefore, as an investor, when you purchase shares of a company, you have increased the worth of the company. Thus it's a win-win situation for both investor and owner.
