Always interesting to see how many of these guys are still on the job. The youngest of them that are still in just hit their 30 year marks.Casey retired as a captain not too long ago and Choi is the interim chief.

This is why i dislike huge police departments like LAPD and NYPD. Too many people competing for ranks with slow promotions. Infact I was reading up on officers in CHP who have been in the agency for over 20 years and are still at the same rank of officer.
@thebronzetoo16 күн бұрын
@@EasilyCringed My best friend just retired from CHP with almost 29 years. He was an officer the entire time and a dept pilot for 26 of those years.
@albertov183716 күн бұрын
@@EasilyCringed Sometimes it's actually easier to promote in bigger agencies due to the sheer number of promotional opportunities available. Obviously it gets harder as you go up the ranks, but achieving a Sgt. rank isn't impossible. I've found that a lot of people who retire "only" as officers/deputies never wanted to promote. You see this a lot especially in bigger agencies because a lot of line personnel end up in special units/speciality assignments and they'd rather stay there doing what they love than promote and get sent off elsewhere. The comment mentioning the CHP pilot is a prime example.
@EasilyCringed16 күн бұрын
@@thebronzetoo See, exactly as I suspected. You basically have to be the governors son or be really close with the police chief in order to gain a promotion.

I don't know where you get your information. But you promote if you want to advance. Its backwards in Ca. Small agencies are slow to promote. A large agency like the LAPD promotes regularly. If a officer stays a p2 his whole career, its because that's what they wanted. We agree to disagree. I have no idea about the NYPD but in Ca, you get what you put in.

People used to tell me it was fun jamming the shit out of their UHF radio system back in that day I'm surprised they never went encrypted especially nowadays with all these Rogue radios all over the place that you can buy that have p25 digital capabilities anybody could program it up like that and mess with them quite a bit I'm sure it's in the works or something like that somebody has to know something on the streets of LA because that's why Chicago ended up getting encrypted because people kept fucking with their radios
