Class 11-07 here. Officers Casper and Park of EP Firearms trained me to shoot a Glock 22 and I have gotten top shooter at LASD and at the Federal academy. CS gas was the worst part of the federal academy lol. I've ben OC'd twice. Hattori works part time for my friend at Newton Patrol as an instructor.

LAPD Pay is around $90k to $95k. LEOs have similar base salaries in major Midwestern metros, $80k to $90k. To be comparable, the LAPD would have to pay its officers around $140k (LAPD salary for police officers tops out at around $125k). You also have to make this salary work in a place with higher taxes, more traffic, longer commutes, worse schools, homelessness, and the crime you're meant to be fighting. This is why they are understaffed by about 25%.

Is there homework due? Is lunch provided? Is there a test or course with a high rate of failure? How many chances do you get to make it up? Do all tests have to be passed or some may be skipped but have a total aggregate passing score? Are you trained on other weapons such as AR-15s, revolvers or different calibers? Is cleaning the weapons part of the training? Is there LAPD reciprocity on time served on other departments within the city?

there are tests you have to pass not much in teh way of homework. lunch is not provided you bring your own lunch. you get 1 retest. you fail that you're out. all tests have to be passed. AR-15 is for after you pass teh academy optional not required. no revolvers or other pistols you are trained in the LAPD FN 509 MRD-LE .

I went through a private security academy some time ago, and received a certification from OPOTA. 160hours and never be late or miss a class. These folks go through 900 hours. Oy vay!
