I think people are missing something. The surface level Scopper/Sanji paralells exist, however I also see strong Nami parallels here. That's not slander. Erase your preconceived notions for a second. Scopper got on Roger's case in the flashback, very similar to how Nami is constantly on Luffy's case. To emphasize this, when we return from the flashback, Nami cautions Luffy to listen to Scopper's cautioning. Nami was the 3rd crew mate. Nami has orange hair, and copper is orange. And a previous design for Nami had her weilding an axe. That doesn't mean Sanji isn't a Scopper parallel. It's possible that all three characters are meant to parallel a very important void century figure in one way or another.

Normally, I dont like when a Manga Protagonist is being the same as a Legendary figure from that same Manga. But somehow, in One Piece it feels different. There are subtle hints that Luffy and Roger are from the same cloth, just like Rayleigh and Zoro are. Now we have an inkling between Gabban and Sanji. Im not sure if Oda can do it for the whole crew (he could but it would be very much rushed in my opinion), but I wish he doesnt. It good enough to have some of the crew share feats with Rogers but I want that the Strawhats keep some authenticity. That being said, Gabban hype is real. And that can be reflected a lil bit to Sanji now. The symbolism that Luffy is the second coming of Roger, Zoro is Rayleigh and Sanji is Gabban is quite heavy. I just have 1 question, Gabban being equal to Rayleigh and Roger is something that I would have loved if it had bee introduced earlier after Timeskip. He is such a Legend but we hear this Legend now for the first time.

Im still not convinced Luffy has the Nika fruit. Anytime anyone has talked about it, its always been unsure and conjecture. And Bonney achieving a nika form proves that a non-Nika fruit can reach it. Do all fruits have that potential? Did luffy just unlock it with his spirit? Most of what he can do i could see with an awakened rubber fruit
