The Real Life Matchbox Rally Cars Of Your Childhood!

Chances are most of us have owned some Matchbox cars at some time, and Rally cars were a big thing for Matchbox, producing some fantastic examples.
This video compares the Matchbox car with the real life examples that inspired the design, and yes, we know that some of the cars are not the exact version Matchbox made, and we also know that Matchbox made some errors too, but they can be forgiven, they were kids toys after all!

I’m sure there is a mistake in there the white Sierras is a 4x4 not the Cossie, I’m sure Stig drove one under the Ford banner?

Matchbox didn't have a Sierra Cosworth so the XR4i model was used, but its a bit of a fantasy model anyway, the livery is the one used by McRae, things like the Gemini across the bonnet etc, and also the model says British Open Rally Championship and Tudor Webasto Manx Rally on there too, but they did also add a drivers name to the roof of the car of N.Cooper, which (unless anyone can correct us) is not a name connected with the car / championship / event
