People who haven't tried rings have zero clue how incredible this is. I'm a strong chap, I was a sponsored whitewater kayaker for years, 24 years windsurfing - I have rings at home and I can not do any of the moves he does. It's next level. So much admiration and respect.

Maybe when it comes to shoulders and arms. But what about climbers? They are the strongest pound for pound when it comes to finger strength. And weightlifters definitely have stronger legs. Powerlifters have probably stronger pecs. Strength is specific, saying athletes in any sport are the "strongest" is stupid because they specialise in a specific kind of strength. Not trying to put down anyone, gymnasts are amazing. I just found sport comparisons to be stupid

In gymnastics it's called hook grip. You position the rings on the inside of your wrists. This shortens the lever of your arms, making static strength holds a tiny bit easier.

Wow... at my best I could barely hold the iron cross, and it wasn't perfectly aligned I believe. As for the rest, just impossible without heavy specific training. And to do one figure after another like that is otherworldly. Damn!

I was thinking the same. I mean, I don't know who of them is better, but at least I found really inopportune and unkind (not to say disrespectful) towards a legend of gymnastics to make such a remark. Well, given the accent of the speaker, I would have expected any...kind of unkindness.

Jury Chechi is the only Lord of the Rings: 5 times w champion, 1 gold and 1 bronze at the Olympics (and he missed his second olympic game due to a broken Achille's tendon, otherwise it would have been another easy gold).
@Peterpan-ok

"Petrounias has won the gold medal at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Basel, Switzerland surpassing the legend of the sport from Italy Yuri Chechi. This is the fifth gold in a row for him who has become one of the greatest gymnasts of all time and one of the greatest athletes in the world of sport "
@marcofoschi3811
@marcofoschi3811 Жыл бұрын
@@Peterpan-ok hey, we are talking about world championships, here, that's what makes you a legend in gymnastics. Chechi won 5 and Petrounias only 3,. And Chechi had a broken tendon in 2000 and another injury in 1992 which stopped him for years , otherwise he would have at least one olympic gold more and european and w championships. I realize you are greek, but 2 world championships more is a lot. Most of all, when there is another athlete who's been given the nickname "Lord of the rings" 20 years before you, who is better than you, that nickname applied to you is immediately laughable. Write back when Petrounias wins 2 more world championships
@Peterpan-ok
@Peterpan-ok Жыл бұрын

Write me back when Chechi would have won more European golds from Petrounias! Never! Instead Petrounias has still the opportunity to win more medals! The last one have won it after a surgery that he had on his arm!
@marcofoschi3811
@marcofoschi3811 Жыл бұрын
@@Peterpan-ok don't even talk about injuries because Chechi missed 1992 olympics due to a broken Achilles tendon and 2000 olimpics due to a broken bicep. Facts are that in the european championships a lot of champions from the rest of the world don't compete, in fact Petrounias has been beaten often in the world championships: he wasn't the best. Facts are that any mentally sane man will tell you that a world championship is 10 times more important that a european championship. And Petrounias is still 2 gold short from Chechi . And also 2 bronze medals. So write back when petrounias wins 2 golds and 2 bronzes at the world championships.
