Photograph is a lowkey dope song on the album.. Especially how it speaks about the addiction of social media and being caught up with someone you've never seen.

I honestly think this is his best album. All of the songs do what they are made for, the bangers bang, the deep songs are deep, the chill songs are chill. He sticks to the theme(s) all of the way through and has a consistent sound. Once an Addict is also probably my favorite Cole song just because of how exact and relatable it is to my life. I set my expectations high and he went above it.

Not the best, but the best message.

When taking in account the beats & the lyrics & the themes & the overall concept(s), it’s his best (to me, longtime fan), but, mainly, it’s his most important, due to the message.

Everytime I listen to the album it doesnt feel like im listening to 12 songs, but rather one short story with 6 parts to it. I can listen to the whole album without skipping any song at all, more than 4YEO, but I guess its because I can relate to this album more as a Kid On Drugs, trying to Kill my Own Demons before I see my Kings Overdosed.

Tha is for sharing your perspective on this album. I'm still digesting the album myself and I think it's amazing to see J. Coles growth as an artist. Honestly I love this current J. Cole cause he's being real to himself now. He ain't doing it for the money, he's doing it because he feels the need to address issue from his POV, and purely as an artist. People who dont rock with it need to give it another chance cause the album is great.

Great song reviews. A few things I noticed when I was listening. - The album starts with the Kids on Drugs and then interpolstes with King Overdosed on a few tracks then nearing the end turns into Kill Our Demons, telling the youth to stop or at least chill out on the drug usage. - I don't wanna pull this trigger but I have to because I immediately noticed it. This album shares similarities with DAMN for me, this is in no way a bad thing but the trap production and lyrical flow in the beginning of the albums songs is in the same vein although not the same. Also the counter message of the typical production, seems like he's bragging which brings in the masses but he's actually giving a lesson. - Very clever that he put this on 4/20. I can imagine the amount of fans that couldn't wait to get home, light a j then when it gets to "friends" feel bad😂😂😂 *cough* me *cough* it made me rethink about addiction as a whole for a bit. Did it stop me from ever having mj again...no. But he is mainly talking to the young rappers who promote drugs destructively. (This is what I tell myself now if I'm listening to friends to sleep at night😂) - I'm dumb as a bag of bricks, I didn't even put Kevin's heart with Kevin Hart😑 maybe I should stop the mj. I like the album a lot on first listen, and I hope people don't overlook it as it may seem preachy or him saying drugs r bad. He says himself that he smokes weed in the album and never said he quit (he could be speaking from the perspective of one of the kids but he's an honest guy). This album hasn't made me get up, stand up, look at the sun with the wind blowing in my face and claim I quit and dramatically throw away grass, I think it did one better and made me look at addiction and pain as a whole. You will always get addicted to something because we are creatures of habit, but it's up to you to pick something constructive to get addicted to like meditation, excercise instead of destructive substances like alcohol, xanax, other hard drugs and I have to say it or I'm not being real, excessive amounts of mj. (Now go light a j and read this again😉🔥🍁)

3 threezy Maybe he does things because he knows it'll create attention and controversy, and I'm not saying that he isn't an attention thirsty person, but its not like he has some grand master plan to exploit the shitty priorities of the average hip hop listener. He's like the class clown who learned that doing something stupid or cruel or loud got the most laughs and most attention.
@chrisa70406 жыл бұрын
idk bro the timeline is messed up somewhere. If you listen closely KOD sounds like it fits perfectly after Born Sinner cause you can hear ‘Lil Cole’ more mature on KOD. Take into account that while he was in NY around that Born Sinner era he had all the jewels and diamonds which he lowkey hated. FHD definitely was the end album IMO, and 4YEO is the “lost file” cause when Cole said “and this album remains locked in a hard drive like valuable jewels.” With the passing of his friend he HAD to drop 4YEO. But let’s backtrack a bit... Cole has a set of horns and a halo. For albums, Demon Cole gave us Born Sinner and Halo Cole gave us everything else. Demon Cole is alive and well all over KOD. Except... J. Cole placed “Mature Simba” into today’s society and it fits perfect and a bonus for Cole is that he knew/knows many people who suffered from addiction of drugs. As for now drugs are reallllllly getting outa control. He probably smoked weed before a couple times so he does have a first hand experience of being high on a level
