The thing is a lot of the reactors never read the books. And the books are so much more than the movie. And people love the movie series. But a lot didn't read the books. So they missed how intricate and engaging that book series was. I love watching your videos. Because I have no one to talk to about this either and I read the books like 20 years ago. Lol

a question ive always had is what ends up happening to the pearl. Katniss probably lost it during/after the bombing and at that point didn't care anymore, right?

Yeah it seems like after the final bombing in the Capitol when she caught on fire, the uniform she had on with the pearl in the pocket was destroyed and/or discarded when she was getting help from doctors. And after that she’s going through everything with her sister and doesn’t think about it. Plus at that point the real Peeta is “back”, his goodness is inside of him again vs being symbolically in this pearl Katniss watches over

I’m obsessed with this entire video! Really randomly I have a headcanon that Peeta’s mom’s name is Pearl and the way that he uses it is a slap in the face to her for the abuse she caused him as a kid. BUT also, 2 scriptures about pearls tie in as well. “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, and upon finding a single pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.” - Matthew‬ ‭13‬:‭45‬-‭46‬ ‭AMP‬‬ - this is how Peeta feels about Katniss - he knows her value & would give up all he has for her & “Do not give that which is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, for they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬ ‭AMP‬ - which foreshadows his unwillingness to separate from her & also his capture. The things you said about the parachute & keys etc WHOA 😭 I wonder if she didn’t mention the color because she was so happy it wasn’t the same as what was on her dress though, or if it would foreshadow the darkness that would be associated with their separation. & the fact that the spile (symbolizing the “rivers of living water”) & Pearl (symbolizing Peeta & the “bread of life”) were wrapped up in the parachute as a covering & for protection 😭 nahh! It also makes me wonder if there’s a greater symbolic reference to Finnick - he’s the one who taught Katniss how to feel her emotions & also took great pride in helping Peeta overcome his negative thoughts in the Capitol in Mockingjay. & how while Katniss held to key the whole time, Finnick was doing the work before her to ensure he would be ready, like he did with the secrets being part of the key to overthrowing Snow. So when Finnick dies, she knows she has to step back into that space for Peeta, just like he has been that for her & Finnick has been that for her.

The pearl being carried in the parachute is a huge foreshadowing that Peeta was going to be captured by the Capitol ;-; And she keeps it in the parachute until she goes to her mission to kill Snow, so until then Peeta was trapped by the Capitol (maybe it's not right I haven't read the books in years, idk when she stops using the parachute).
