Jet Barker's daughter wasn't allowed to go up to Woodstock, NY for the big concert. So she arranged the Allmans to come to Love Valley. They agreed. Lots of people showed up even the Hell's Angels and the Outlaws. One of the Allman brothers liked the area so much they bought a house there. A video like this is Adam at his best. Again superb content and coverage of main subject and environs. And I can't say it enough about The Woo's camera compositions, still and motion, as being superb. The opening shot with the signs and landscape is a masterpiece of composition. It's a pleasure to observe such purposeful and relaxed camera work. So many travel vlogers seem to lapse into another zone with their cameras seemingly locked on left-to-right or up-and-down constant movement. While others pan at such speeds as too induce vertigo. There's an old unwritten rule in filming; When you focus on a sign, plaque, etc., if you don't choose to read it out loud(slowly), then read it silently to yourself TWICE while the camera is fixed in place for the viewer to read it. Adam seems to show a natural instinct for visual capture. I think if he chose to pursue it more in depth he'd be a remarkable documentary film maker.

I recall when the concert(s) were going on and afterwards the huge controversy over the massive amount of trash and human waste that were left behind. Sanitation was NOT a priority! Because of the ill will caused by the need for cleanup, at taxpayer expense, the founders of Love Valley came under intense pressure to shut the whole place down. I also recall that the town has been threatened a number of times with the loss of its charter mainly because of its very, very small year-round population. Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure that the fact that Love Valley came into existence is why several very small, privately owned "Western towns" have been built, in North Carolina, over the last four or five decades as "vanity projects". To the best of my knowledge none are open to the public as they are located on what was once farmland. There is (was?) one in Union County, NC east of Monroe that would be basically invisible and unheard of if the property owners did not also own and operate a very nice horse farm/ranch and occasionally host weddings, and a few, a VERY few, other special events. Great video as usual!

The Mill was still in operation about 20 years ago...could still be. They stone grind cornmeal and grits; there's a GORGEOUS stream that operates the Mill, has a swinging bridge and small camping area by the stream. If you were there during an event, you might even catch a wagon train around the backside of the mountain (Brushy Mountains) and end up at Linnie's Mill. The scenery is GLORIOUS!
