Villa played there second team full of players who hadn’t played together before and Legia are better than you give them credit for especially at home if you’re expecting Chelsea to easily beat Villa based on a one off game I think you’re in for a rude awakening. Villa lost to Stevenage last year yet they still beat Chelsea so reading into one off results like that doesn’t help.

My main point really is that good teams have bad days it’s a one off game and Villa were nowhere near there best level so I wouldn’t base much off that game.

Gotta say everyone keeps banging on about chelsea spent a billion but why is no one taking into consideration that during the sanctions chelsea could not renew player contracts and lost rudiger who at the time was arguably the best cb in the world, christensen and alonso on free transfers. Cucurella, fofana and koulibally were the replacements who cost around £170million yes we overpaid but by what 40-50 million (also let's not forget inflation) in a time of desperation. Also due to the sanctions we couldn't sign players until late in the window, but that isn't down to the new ownership that was down to the old regime. Then if we look at players sold vs players brought in, it actually works out to about 500 million spent once we subtract the profit generated from sales including the money we HAD to spend to replace the players we lost on frees it's about 500 million spent not a billion. Also a good 100 million at least is on players who probably won't play for chelsea but we can turn a profit on in a few years. Then if you factor in all of the young promising players who were signed to play for chelsea , yes again we overpaid for some not all, if even half of them fulfil their potential then it will still work out as good business. But yeah also I just wanna add if we look at chelsea over the last 5 years we weren't even closing to challenging for the title. We've had the same problems for years now and the champions league glossed over it. We needed this shake up maybe we shouldn't have done it all at once and maybe we should have got a few players with more experience in as well but for the most player for player we have improved our squad. Once all the players who would make up the starting 11 are back and get a consistent run of games the results will come, We just need time and patience to let the team gel and grow together and within a few seasons we will be challenging on all fronts again.
