Same here. Started going grey/white/clear in my late teens. Now I’m in my late thirties I’ve had enough of dyes and stuff, especially since I’ve been using beard dye too. It’s all ammonia free but I feel like it all looks too uniform. My hair is now greyish white. I might dye my beard just for a contrasting look but I’m super happy with my natural hair.

I am 67, so no real surprise I have a head full of clear hair. My grandmother was a red head and was totally clear headed by the age of 30. When I was young my hair was a auburn brown, and was very red in the sun. I to started to go clear young. My hair was clear/platinum by 30 also... My husband has joked that he married a auburn haired person and now has a platinum blond....btw we have been married 47 years. Rock, the red, then rock the clear.😊

I can relate. Gray doesn't ruin in my dad's side (He's 65 and his hair is still dark black and he never died it once) but my mom got gray hair at like 35. she's 40 now and her hair's pretty much gray now. and when I was 10 I had this streak of gray in my hair and everybody used to say I looked like Anna from Frozen. I'm 15 now and I actually don't have that streak anymore. I don't know how it went away but it did. I feel like I'm gonna get gray earlier like my mom though cause I have most of her genetics with hair color, type, eye color, teeth and lots of other things

Kaylee Summer It’s happening to me currently. I’m a medium golden brown color and what I’m seeing mostly now is white but there are differing shades of white; if that makes sense? Some are definitely more gray than white/clear. It sort of sucks but since one of my earliest really clear memories is of my mom coloring her grays (she was 90% at 45) I suppose I’m lucky I lasted to 52 being able to hide it with color. Now it’s simply too much and grows too fast. I could dye it today and in a week you’d see a flash at the roots when sunlight hit it. I was hoping this was more of a “ways to deal with gray when you are tired of dyeing but not ready to just go for it yet...”

I’ve had grey hairs since I was about 14. Now, as an 18 year old with quite a bit of grey hair I’ve learned to accept it. I don’t necessarily love them all the time, but I grown to accept them. I get compliments on them sometimes and that always brings a smile to my face, but I get those comments like “you need to chill out, you’re so stressed and have so much grey hair.” “Are you just always stressed? You have so much grey hair for a teenager.” Yes, I’m stressed, I’m in school, but also this is something my mother and sister experienced too. I’ve accepted it and it’s likely genetic. I used to die my hair all the time to get rid of them, but it ruined my hair. Now, I just let my hair grow out grey and brown and forget about it. Maybe I’ll be full grey at 30🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll rock it then too.

At the age of 45 I made the decision to stop dying my hair. Through the decades I'd tried an array of colours from bleached blonde to a very deep purple that had fiery red strands throughout. I'd had waist length hair to ultra-short pixie cuts too. It was a big step & though I knew that there was some grey under there I had no idea to what extent. After a few knock backs, mostly because they weren't comfortable with the severity of the process, I finally found a hairdresser who was willing to take a chance & strip all the colour from my hair even though we both knew that it could possibly do some serious damage. I had also decided that if I didn't like my natural colour & providing my hair survived the process I was willing to recolour it. After 4 hours I finally took a look in the mirror expecting at best, a reasonable outcome & at worst, a disaster. Fortunately, the look of satisfaction at a job well done on the hairdresser's face was enough to assure me that the end result was by no means a disaster. My hair had survived the stripping of colour & she even commented on how shiny & healthy it looked. My natural colour, as it turned out was a combination of light silver, white & a very pale creamy blonde with a blending of those colours plus a dark ash blonde underneath at the back of my head which looks quite effective when I sweep it all up on top. I often have women asking me who colours my hair. When I tell them that it's natural they react one of three ways. They either look doubtful. Compliment me. Or make me promise to never colour it again. So thanks to the genetics on my mother's side of the family I love my hair colour but had someone told me that I'd feel this way before I had it stripped I would never have believed them. For that I am thankful & damned proud to own my silver, white, blonde, ash blonde CLEAR hair.

I’m 23, and I had my first grey hair at 19. I was always very stressed, since childhood,and I always thought that was the cause of it. I am a natural redhead but I never connected that to this issue. I actually do find grey hair beautiful though, so I am not that worried

I had tried to let my hair grow out during quarantine, wanting to at least test the waters regarding going grey. Before quarantine, I would frequently get shock when I'd tell people my age (early 40s), them assuming I was 10 years younger. It was single process but it would pick up the color in a way that looked like highlights. The grey made me look in my fifties - there was some blending but my natural hair color is tree bark brown so the natural areas was a muddled disaster. I realize there will be a time to embrace the grey but you showed women who are significantly older and I AM NOT THERE. Got a friend to do the box dye and I feel a whole lot better about life.
@theukyankee
@theukyankee 10 ай бұрын
I bet it didn't make you look older - you just think it does because we're taught that grey = looking older. I went salt & pepper at 51 and wish I had gone in my mid-40s because I actually look younger with the greys than the artificial colour. BUT, it should be something you choose when you are ready.

I have many grey hairs now. And I can tell you that a pigmented hair strand does not have to fall off for a new clear one to grow out necessarily. I’ve actually seen on myself a hair strand that was dark brown on the bottom, a little yellowish transitioned zone and then see through up to the root. At one point that hair follicle just stopped producing coloured hair, but the hair kept growing.

Hi Brad. A few years ago I totally grew out my colour, and I'm ready to embrace the silver hairs coming through. I remember one day finding a long hair, completely uncoloured and natural, and I saw first hand how my hair changed. The end was a light brown, fading into golden blonde through the middle, then fading into silver white at the root. I was fascinated to see how the colour had faded out, and explains why I have a lot more golden hairs now - they'll eventually turn silver. Looking forward to being completely silver! Also, you're so right about B12. My Mum has pernicious anaemia, which means she has to have B12 injections. She went completely silver by the time she was 40. She rocks it!

This is not true I think he messed up about the red head thing. Red heads are the least likely to go grey. Red head being of how is made doesn’t grey easily. My aunt if 50 and has never died her hair. She is a red head and my mom the blond has been dying her hair since she was 35.

I started going gray at 11 yrs old. By the time I was 21 I was "salt and pepper". So embarrassing🤦🏼‍♀️ I've literally had to color my hair since I was 16. Sucks. I hate my stupid hair🤬

First Name: Katy It’s not embarrasing! But l might not be the one to talk since I don’t know how it feels. I can imagine you’d look GREAT in light grey hair! You’d rock it 😍😍😍 just google and get some inspo. Live your best life girl

namz0x It was embarrassing in middle and high school bc the other kids would talk about it. My mom wouldn't let me color it until I was 16 and my hair is naturally dark brown, almost black so it was super noticeable. I remember being in 7th grade my friends would have me lay my head down on the desk and they would pick them out😂 Maybe that's why I had so many...they all came to the funerals🤷‍♀️😂

@@tatyana137 Don't judge her based on that one thing. Calling her mom mean is too much. At under 16, I'd focus more on trying to make my daughter love her true self rather than at that age trying to cover up and letting her use hairdye. Her mom did right.

Brad, idk if you will ever see this but I gotta say this. I've been looking for a hairstylist that I could truly trust, and by saying that, I mean a HAIRSTYLIST that KNOWS what he does and UNDERSTANDS what he does. I love that finally, someone who does research and not just styles a hair is here (because I seldom see hairstylists like that here). I am always anxious when someone cuts my hair because it's mostly a chaotic result (yeah, I'm exaggerating that part but yk, who expects their crowning glory to get ruined? I am gonna wear that ruined hair for months until it grows back). I'm glad I found your channel and even binge-watched your videos (I binged a lot of your videos before I decided to subscribe because I finally saw that you're trustworthy). And yes, finally, though idk if I would ever go to your own salon and be your client but I'm planning to try out your products soon! Keep doing videos like this! Your channel is really informative and I even love it when you have content with Eric, your vibes are just so adorable. Not cringy, just fabulously extra real. Keep it up!

My hair started going gray when I was 21. I am now 31, and I only have a few more gray hairs, but it is accelerating rapidly. my mom's mom went totally gray by 35, and my mom started growing gray at around that same time, too.

Oh my gosh, when I was 12 my friend was so stressed with an eating disorder, she got some gray hair from the stress when she was only 12.

Natural redhead here. Now that I’m in my forties, my hair is darkening. I do have two or three white hairs (not gray), but they have been switching from red to white to red over the years. Stress thing is so true! Less stress, less white hairs.
