Actually, the lockdowns took everything away which usually makes marriages function in the first place - namely enough separations, distance, opportunities in everyday life to do one´s own things by oneself and to interact with many other people who offer different stimuli. Think about it: regular Jane and Joe usually go to work all day and don´t see each other. They only spend a few hours together in the evening, and sometimes maybe not even that because one partner might be traveling for business, or they have alternating day shifts and night shifts. Then there are the various hobbies that a man engages in throughout the week and at the weekends: meeting up with buddies and going for a beer, going to the gym, riding his motorcycle, working on his car, going rock climbing (all things which take him AWAY from the wife and give him much needed respite). Also, the extensive lockdowns made it impossible for men to meet up with their secret side chicks (often an underestimated factor for keeping a marriage together, because believe it or not, a mistress functions as an escape and outlet, so that the man can better maintain his mundane husband and father role at home). And now multiply this times ten, with Jackman being a world famous actor who spent the majority of the last two decades being away a lot for filming all over the planet, doing Broadway etc., doing press junkits, doing red carpets and getting fawned over by fans, getting in shape at the gym with his personal trainer, and so on. It kept the marriage "fresh" and alive, so to speak. And the kids were still minors, so DLF had a purpose staying home with them and raising them. Then boom, the pandemic hits. The kids are grown, but now these two people are stuck in one place 24/7 for months on end, and none of them can go and satisfy their individual need of getting away from the partner, doing things they love, interacting with other individuals. It´s absolutely NOT surprising that countless marriages broke down during COVID. Have you ever had an unemployed husband at home on the couch for months and months? Insufferable. It wears a woman down to the bone. Because I repeat, marriages - especially long ones - actually function and somewhat last only because of enough distance and separation on a daily basis. For the same reason, relationships completely fall apart after a couple has gone on an extensive vacation and spent 14 to 21 consecutive days literally joined at the hip.

Covid lockdowns and aftermath made a whole lot of marriages and relationship end. Clarkson ended during covid as well. I always wondered if it would last. Hugh cheated on Deb and when she was suspicious, he lied to her repeatedly, and now he and Sutton want to be seen as saints with this great love story, all the while expecting Deb to bite her tongue and go along with it. It's now clear she is not alright with that, so too bad for them. Not enough for them to just go about their lives, they had to try to run a PR campaign that allowed them to present themselves as saint heroes and this is the greatest love story ever. So disrespectful to Deb after cheating on her. I don't blame her for reaching her limit with their ignorance and letting people know about the affair. To be honest, it was an open secret anyway.

The real reason why these people split is this. Not about age or gender race religion. It’s about how they are mental health wise. We don’t have any way to know what they actually were like in the privacy of their private lives. My experience was a husband who showed off in public places friended so many people unfortunately he was mentally civil abusing me as a servant would be treated like. Maybe he would be a different kind of person behind closed doors. He obviously has 1. Narcissistic personality disorder 2. obsessive compulsive disorder and a mental mild age crisis happening show off his body in bombastic self destructive behaviour from grieving over his father. Simple he needs to get out of the spotlight to find his mental illness recovery.
