I can't be the only one who thinks The Incredible Hulk is quite a decent movie. The plot was solid, the action scenes especially the sound effects were stunning too. And that Edward Norton is a devoted actor at the very least, if not extremely driven to get Bruce Banner right.

I think the Hulk in that movie was the best (even though the movie itself wasn't the best). In that movie, Hulk looked, *SOUNDED* and acted like the intense and uncontrollable rage beast he's supposed to. In the Avenger's movies he works but kinda comes off as an angry teddy bear on a leash. And lets not even get into the neon green disaster from Ang Lee's version.

Yeah the whole movie was pretty good, decent story, nice action, only thing that was a predictable/anticlimactic was the ending fight with abomination. I quite enjoyed Blonski as a villain before he became abomination though. Probably one of the least bland MCU villains (if you can call him the real villain).

Ditto. I honestly liked it more than the 2003 film. This one was more of a chase film, which I believe helped the movie well. And the action scenes were pretty awesome, I liked how the Hulk uses debris as shields. And I also liked how they set up Emil Blonsky's evolution into the Abomination.

They would just be spending too much money and not getting back any financial revenue. Remember Universal owns the character. All revenue has to be split with Universal for using the character. Here's just an example. Supergirl on CBS. CBS had to pay DC 3 million an episode just to use Supergirl's name and likeness on screen, and that's not even part of the budget they had for all of season 1's episode's. Add 3 million per episode and you get a large budget cost. Same is for Hulk and Universal. Its too much money to spend and not getting anything back for it. The same will be for Spider-Man too, just wait and see how Sony will rip SM from Marvel after Marvel popularizes him again

Not that humour in Marvel movies has really bothered me altough I have to say it was too forced in scenes of the Dr Strange which I still enjoyed. Hulk was just a well rounded watch and is definitely in my top 5 if the franchise. I actually still wish Norton was still playing the role but Ruffalo has done good filling in.

its a good story but the problem is ironically that doing so would be shoehorning Planet Hulk into the MCU. it would be like going on a tangent that doesnt really apply to the MCU's main story when the outcome could be summed up within another movie and get the same effect in the end, i.e. morphing into a WWH-ish story, again, a summed up version of it. we only really need to get Hulk to his Worldbreaker power level for Infinity Wars, no need to go on a Planet Hulk tangent which would add to the already enormous Phase 3 of MCU.

I don't see how Hulk on a different planet would be any different than any other character in a different state. The heroes are totally disconnected from each other for their solo movies. It couldn't end with WWH and be identical to the comics, but no Marvel movie has been. It's still a gladiator story from a hero that everyone seems to complain is only able to portray the wereworlf arc.

the 2003 hulk film was more of a tribute to the classic hulk that was dumb. the Edward hulk was a retake that flopped and looked really bad but had a slightly smarter hulk. the mark hulk look the best in the sense of CGI and has a clever state of mind also the muscles look more natural where as the Norton hulk you can see every muscles fiber tissues which just looked strange. Erics hulk did a better job of displaying the hulks increase in power by showing him get angrier and physically growing in size. all 3 have their good and bad but overall marks hulk is a nice balance between the past two.

I don't have favorites in life so if anyone asks me what's my favorite shirt, food, movie, music/artist etc etc. I will tell I don't have one even though I love fashion, I love to eat, I have a large movie library collection, I have a strong passion for music I sing and write music but when it come to art and comics since ive been drawing since a toddler and never stopped and been reading comics before kindergarten I do have favorites. Hulk is my favorite character. American comic book art is a form of art I respect. BUT the movies are adaptations to the real thing. Not everything can be translated so easily in the movie realm. Hulk looks massively beefed and ripped depending on the artist but applying the same concept in my OPINION isn't appealing to my eyes. To me it looks over done. As an artist sometimes less is more and Norton's CGI Hulk more physical muscle appearance in the way it was done was to much. The lighting didn't help in the movie either. It's almost like they mimicked an art drawing and traced over it with CGI and it looked odd. The muscle wasn't believable to me. Isn't that the whole point of things such as CGI is to make them look as close as possible to the real thing even if that THING really doesn't exist? Marks Hulk TO ME looks more naturally where as Norton's looked more forced. I suppose anyone can argue well what about body builders, sometimes you can see their muscle fibers. True but they also workout before going on stage and the spray tan themselves as well as oil up. So if their was a such thing as adding HD to real life that's essentially what body builders do before walking out onto the stage. They also get their muscles to a size that's beyond what their body can handle to the point it looks proportionately incorrect. Hulk gets huge and ripped but it's still looks normal because in Hulk form that just his natural size to where body builders force their body to look the way it does. Hulk body in most drawings of him is proportionately correct. Norton's Hulk mass wise was fine it's the detail in the muscle is what bothered me. Adding cut after cut line to muscle isn't going to make the muscle look any stronger it's simply them adding another line of muscle that doesn't benefit the muscle at all in appearance. It's like taking a circle that colored in with black, and trying to add more black to it isn't going to make it more black cuz in the end it's black. Adding more black to black isn't benefitting the black circle ata all. If it was a white circle and adding black to it well now where getting somewhere. I don't hate Norton's Hulk per say o just think the detail in muscle appearance was done poorly.

A good Hulk movie can be made, I'm absolutely fucking sure of it. But I don't think a good one can fit the current tone of Marvel universe movies. I think a Hulk movie would work best if it's done serious. Without the constant quips and sparkly colorful look of current MCU stuff. And let him fucking talk! A roar and a punch is cool I guess, but a massively major part of Hulk's character is that he wants to be left in peace. The old comics often went like this: Bruce Banner wakes up somewhere strange, gets roped into some shit, turns green, gets attacked relentlessly, laments how everyone thinks he's a monster even though he hasn't done anything to deserve it other than look the part, shouts "Leave Hulk ALONE!", breaks shit and leaps away. He needs that pain, that disappointment, to lament how he's perceived. His problem is that his rage is uncontrollable, not that it's constant. The scene in the first Avengers where Black Widow tries to calm him down and he pauses for a moment when he feels there's no hostility makes sense. The scene in the Edward Norton one where Liv Tyler chills out with him in a cave makes sense. That's what the Hulk is. A hulking mass of strength and boundless rage who wants tranquility. He hates the rage. He hates what he becomes when he is enraged. He hates it both as the Hulk AND as Bruce Banner. Most important for all of his character is that he can still think and speak. Let the Hulk speak! Make him talk in growly short exhales if you have to. Just. Let. Hulk. SPEAK!

It all boils down to one reason and one reason only.....Marvel/Disney's greed. And I'm not knocking them for that...like any studio, they're a business, and a business is there to make money. I get it. But publicly, they've been pretty misleading with the fans whenever this question comes up. They (particularly Feige) often shifts the blame onto Universal, trying to make them look like the "bad guy" who doesn't want to make a Hulk movie...and that Marvel are at their mercy....which is absurd. The same deal with Universal that existed in 2008 still exists now, if they were able to do it then, they can do it now. And at this stage in the game I'm pretty sure Universal (or any studio) would jump at the chance to distribute a Marvel movie and share some of that Marvel money. I could see them having some hesitation immediately following the 2008 movie, but given the Hulk's current post-Avengers popularity as it stands now? It's a no-brainer. No studio in their right mind would pass up the chance to distribute that. What it boils down to Marvel/Disney not wanting to share a small portion of their profit with Universal. Like I said, I'm not blaming them for that per se, why would they want to share with Universal when they can instead simply make and distribute their own movies and keep 100% of the profit? I just wish they'd be honest with the fans about the reasoning behind it and stop trying to pass the buck onto Universal. Because lets be honest, well all love Marvel, but that's kind of a dick move.

Thor also hasn't had that great solo films so far, so I think it's a great choice by them to put them together in the upcoming third Thor film.

Ockams Razor Their deal with Sony isn't quite the same as that of Universal though. Spider-Man Homecoming is a Sony movie through and through. It takes place in the MCU but it is being funded, produced and distributed by Sony....Civil War was funded, produced and distributed by Disney. They struck a deal to be able to share a character to the mutual benefit of both studios, but I'm not sure how much (if any) financial sharing is going on for their individual movies box office. It's not dissimilar to the deal they cut with Fox for the use of Quicksilver. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think they had to share their profits on Age of Ultron with Fox. Where Universal and the Hulk is concerned, because they would be distributing it for Marvel, Universal definitely gets a cut of the movie's box office and home video sales.

The incredible hulk was a fantastic set up for other hulk movies to follow. With the creation of the leader we would have had hulk clones then eventually the red hulk and co . With marvel franchises scattered around it has seriously messed with great possibilities for the hulk and the marvel universe. how hard can it be to collaborate with each other, they all use the marvel name .

Yeah Hulk is overdue to be in a marvel movie, even if he won't get his own. But on that topic, the main reason I don't think he'll get one is because of the plot. Marvel needs to find something different than the generic Hulk looks for cure/wants to save his love-Hulk gives up possible cure to save love-Hulk learns to live with himself. I just feel like the generic plots they could do that audiences could follow have either been done already or are too predictable. Like Looper said, we'd expect him to smash his way to a win. If they want to make a good Hulk movie, Marvel will have to balance a good internal struggle plot with enough of Hulk smashing things and just being awesome.

Marvel replaced Norton because of creative differences. Norton basically convinced Marvel to let him reboot the franchise and gave him almost all creative control. However, around Hollywood, Norton is known to be hard to work with especially if he is involved with the script and took on directing duties like he did with the Incredible Hulk film. Norton actually directed the big action sequences. Marvel had an idea of where they wanted to incorporate Hulk in the MCU and Norton had his own ideas, that's where the rift began. and that's what lead to him being replaced. Marvel doesn't really work well with directors and actors who want some sort of control. Natalie Portman,Terrance Howard, Thor 2 Director Taylor, Iron Man Director Favreau, ex Director Ant Man Director Wright and Joss Weadon tug of war with Marvel over the direction of his Avenger films.

I'm kind of annoyed with the whole bitching about the black widow hand thing. He's the fucking hulk, a ball of raw emotional rage. that there, is a psychological trigger, likely built into banners psyche through extensive therapy. that there, is a smart fucking move. a psychological trigger to calm someone that enters destructive rage is a perfectly plausible thing to do, especially when that person has the strength to punch their way through an army of tanks. It's not weird, its smart. I know people didnt like the romance either and... I can understand why, but while I'm not too big a fan, I also dont care about it enough to feel it ruined the movie.

But what do bothers me, is the inconsistent to the character, like sometimes, he have full control while in hulk mode, then he doesn't. Like when he confirmed that he was always angry and that is how he controlled it, then next time no control.. Pretty confusing.. I love the character behind the hulk, and marvel done a beautiful job with all the others, so it bothers me that he is missing out from that and just used as a amusement.. Its the third act ( studio decision ), if u notice, the first and second act is carefully thought out making for a compelling story, and enough explosions for the general audience. The third act was going to be a lot different ( Yes abomination fight was there but it would have been more compelling rather than just explosions and less mind ) but the studio was like "Nah I am gonna ingore Norton and just make the third act a Michael Bay movie ( norton's ideas were there till the plane dropping off scene and when hulk pops from the ground, then it is all studio ) so If norton didnt give those ideas the incredible hulk wud have been a michael bay film and seeing how most of them did well at the box office it wud have too, but the fans wud have hated it as it wouldnt have been compelling. I like how Edward gave ideas and how the story unfolded but the abomination vs hulk was pretty predictable. Now they ae using Norton's tactic but are not able to use to full extent and leader shud be introduced ( that cliffhanger there remember? ) ok sorry for such long reply but I hope u understand how stupid marvel was at that time.

You know, the comics had the same problem youre saying Hulk movies do. Their answer was to have different versions of hulk and make Bruce Banner a total emotional wreck. Thats the heart of Hulk, not just the green rage monster and it could be explored in movies too. Hulk DOES work on his own because Banner is an interesting character the movies failed to dive into. And are you blind to the fact that his greatest enemy, the Leader, is more powerful because he's SMARTER? They were setting up Leader in the Incredible Hulk but that plotline has since been ignored. You're coming at this from a movie fan's perspective and ignoring how these ideas have been explored further in the comics, which can be used to inspire fresh movies. Spider-Man homecoming distinguished itself from the other Spidey movies by pulling from the comics.

Since when has an "all ages" approach meant just for kids instead of what it actually means: for everyone? The MCU has still explored a lot of mature themes, and incorporated adult aspects within their narratives. Just because they aren't full of blood and guts, doesn't mean they are specifically for children. People need to stop tossing around that arbitrary claim. And hell, the MCU STILL has those darker properties when you look at their Netflix endeavors. And hell, if you really wanna get down to it, I don't remember the last time Disney has been afraid to dabble in dark material. Their movies together hold a higher body count than some horror films, with actually some pretty dark implications for a lot of things. Frollo is a tragic villain who struggles with his own lustful desires and sings about literally raping, and killing Esmeralda. And that's just one example. Here's why they can't make World War Hulk: they would need to make Planet Hulk for it to make sense. Imagine, if you will, a Pandora (Avatar) esque version of Sakaar(aka: all cgi). That is unprecedented in the MCU, and farthermore, Sakaar fetures tons of creatures only possable through cgi, leaving a MASSIVE budget to be required for all the cgi.

Roger Medeiros smh but that was then we're talking bout now giving marvels track record with films over the past few years. They have developed a flow that I think they are very capable of making a successful hulk film. There effects and technology wasn't as advanced back then like it is now.

Wargod Films 2003, 2008; now we are in 2016. not much of a big time gap. they probably just realize we dont want to see the same 5 characters over and over and over and over. dude they did age of ultron and 90% of the characters dont even exist in the mcu. fuck another hulk movie, who cares about hulk or iron man. spiderman?... hes getting his 6th movie... red hulk and the leader havent appeared and a hundred other characters too.

Roger Medeiros Hulk has plenty of fucking characters to choose from. They just need a good writer. There are many Hulk characters they can use. And those few years made the difference. A Dr.Strange movie wouldn't have worked a few years ago.

DontLoseToDoubt TM What would you think on a film based of the 'Hulk: THE END' storyline in which it shows basically none of the Hulk's power but shows only his deep inner struggles. I cannot express how well done it was and really reccommend that you check it out yourself if you haven't already. It is a revolutionary story for the character and a 'must read'.

I also don't think Ed Norton was a great casting choice. I get he may have 'technically' portrayed banner in the right way, I don't think he engages the audience in the same way as ruffalo does. Hulk is also pretty indestructible I don't see a lot of threat to his character like the other solo movies have done

Mark Ruffalo is the best Bruce Banner and if they would have casted him for "The Incredible Hulk" in the first place instead of Ed Norton who changed the entire script, we would have had a good Hulk movie... Maybe one day they'll do back story Hulk movies like the Wolverine movies are with X-Men

Because Hulk has been done enough already, and until the Avengers movie it was done badly. Since then he's had quite allot of good screen time; mostly in Thor Ragnarok. It's time for other heroes to have their day on the big screen; bring back Silver surfer I say he was once an Avenger, if done correct it could be great; he'd certainly give Thanos a pounding.
