I truly believe it’s a combination of everything. Price increases, always cancelling shows, woke garbage content, and trying to end password sharing. I have the plan that allows 2 people to be on the same account. I let my mother who does not live with me be the other person to use the account. Why does it matter if the other person using my account lives with me or not? If I’m paying for 2 people to use it, it should be people anywhere in the world.

@Fred Garvin Yes, but that’s one of the changes they want to implement. I believe what I heard was that if the person you share the password with lives outside of the same residence as you, they can tell by the difference in the IP Address. So the person who’s not listed as the account holder will lose access to logging into that account.

The problem I see with Netflix is: 1). They cancel shows 2). They started doing weekly episodes (I liked Netflix because I just want to binge a show and move on not draw it out like other platforms) if I wanted to watch weekly episodes I would record them on my cable box and skip the commercials 3). Not as much new releases and good content
@adinero50

I'm also thinking their lack of content is COVID driven as well. They pushed a lot of content forward in their release schedules to keep up with the consumer demand when everyone was home. I think that produced inferior show releases to fill the pipe and rushed production schedules as well.

The way I saw it explained is they only care about growth. A show that has a lot of fans but isn't growing its audience gets cancelled. Finding a sizeable audience and keeping them isn't enough. That's why they rarely renew past a second season. Most shows have established their fanbase after 2 seasons and growth either slows down or stops. They should have been keeping those shows going because keeping your existing customers matters too. They're laser focused on bringing in new ones.

You know that show that they were talking about “he’s expecting” has nothing to do with trans people. It’s a Japanese comedy based on a Japanese comic book. It’s sort of a sci-fi comedy where 1% of the male population can become pregnant. It’s no different than that movie Junior with Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Also Billy Crystal made a movie in the 70s where he was a pregnant man. Men being pregnant is a comedy trope that’s like 60 years old.

Left Netflix a while ago when I started to realize that a disproportionate amount of their programming consisted of gratuitous homosexuality, sexual objectification of children or trans actors being used in a role where it just doesn't make any sense. I felt like I was having it crammed down my throat on the regular. I'm a straight woman and there is NOTHING that excites me about 2 dudes going at it, and I doubt I'm in the minority. Isn't it strange that basically every single Blockbuster back in the year 2000 offered way better choice than all streaming services combined today? Even funnier that kids have no idea and think that Netflix, Prime, D+ etc. are the shizzle. Netflix came out of the gate with some great content. Then they went crazy with way too many new shows just to see what would stick, losing focus on the original shows and canceling them without even bringing them to a satisfying conclusion. Next, they started raising their prices during a pandemic and inflation. Then, in order to satisfy a vocal 5%, and continue alienating the other 95% of their subscriber base, they released "He's Expecting." Well, I'm expecting Netflix to continue to lose subscribers and stock value as they continue down this path. There's a small percentage of people that are very vocal with social media, and the rest of us just speak through our wallets.

I think raising prices impacts this generation more than previous generations. If you had a decent job, it used to be that you could support a family and buy a house. So raising Netflix subscription prices hurts this generation quite a bit...

When I first got Netflix, the monthly price was about $6. There were not as many good shows as the cable networks, but for the price, it was a great deal and I did not need more. Now it seems like it is running low on content. That would be OK at $6 a month, but at $20 a month, I am not nearly so happy with them. They also have some big issues with security and people hacking into accounts. I can avoid the "woke" garbage, but that is also a bit disturbing.

Netflix cancels shows that viewers don't view in a certain way (read: binge it), so you get a lot of prematurely cancelled shows which ends up turning into a self-fulfilling prophecy. A new show comes out, viewers waiting a bit to avoid getting frustrated if Netflix cancels the show after one season, which reflects in the KPIs for the show, making Netflix cancel the show because of viewership. It does not help at all that they point the fingers at the customers saying they are the problem.

It’s not that they forgot how they got to the top, it’s that when you become a public company, you instantly go from being “customer centric”, to “investors-centric”. That’s why sometimes the best move by companies, is to remain private in order to maintain control and your “culture” that helped you get to the top in the first place. If you don’t believe me, look at all the companies that went public over the last 20 years. The case study is crazy. JetBlue is one that comes to mind. The shift in thinking goes from the customer, to appeasing your investors on a quarterly basis.

But they aren't lol The fact that they're sharing passwords proves that this isn't the case. What drove Netflix to the top is impossible to replicate. They're never going to have The Office back, they're never going to have Friends back. This is out of their control. These legacy shows, and Netflix original content like House of Cards and Narcos are what made the platform. But people forget that their OG content strategy is basically funding a ton of shows and hoping that one of them becomes the next Squid Game.

If the other people on your account don’t live with you (i.e. they access it out side the account holders home network) then they want you to pay $3 per additional household. This is regardless of how many additional profiles you have on the account; it’s based where it’s being accessed from. They have not rolled it out yet but that what they are going to eventually do. I kept it, but one more increase and I’m out. I do share my password with 2 other households and that’s the primary reason I kept it at $20 with 4K. They both watch it more than I did even before I had an Apple TV. Now that I have Apple TV, I watch it even less as Netflix doesn’t integrate with the TVos dashboard listings like all my other services do. For movies Apple TV tells me where I can watch them elsewhere. I only watch Netflix originals on Netflix these days.

I totally remember the excitment of walking into Blockbuster Video when a wall of new movies arrived & video games & it still smelled like popcorn from all the microwave pop they sold at the front counter but yea people get busy & forget to return shii on-time & blockbuster took advantage of that so

I think a lot of folks are getting fed up. Why? They probably dropped cable and just kept the internet. They subscribed to the likes of Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc to save costs, only to be surprised by increase in cost of the subscriptions lol. I think I started with $6.99 a few years ago but I'm now paying $20.

@@samfisher2306 I’m from England so I’m guessing that 20$ is around the £11 mark then. You get more programs than what we get aswel. My dad works all over the world he has just come back from 8 weeks in the states said there is shows we can get

@@samfisher2306 I only subscribed to Netflix and Disney, which I'll probably drop Disney after I watch the mandalorian season two, but this pretty much describes my situation. Dropped cable because internet TV was alot cheaper, but now it's to the point of the same as a cable bill and I'd rather keep the money than pay for something I barely use

There’s just so much competition and we don’t want to pay for every single app that’s out there. I pay for Hulu, Amazon prime, KZbin music… I’m on my son’s Netflix account. But when Netflix announced that they were going to take away the ability to share passwords… I saw a whole lot of people on Twitter saying that they were going to leave. I hope that they can get it together. I don’t believe the few shows truly (suck to me) is what’s bringing them down. You will never make 100% of people happy. So if there is a 1% audience that demands certain shows… Give them what they want🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m not gonna watch it just because it’s there. I’ll continue watching the things that I do like.

Peacock comin in hot! Because they do 120-60 second commercials for $5 flat rate - most people can put up with one or two ads through a whole program.

Still short NFLX since 600. I love it. I am riding the wave. I knew the competition from HBOMax and Paramount+ would put a dent into that growth in Netflix. Netflix can make content like He's Expecting one a low budget without promotion.
