Ryan Williams recommits to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Just two weeks after five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams de-committed from Alabama, the No. 9 overall prospect in the ESPN 300 again committed to the Crimson Tide and new coach Kalen DeBoer on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder from Saraland, Alabama, is the No. 3 receiver in the class. He initially decommitted on Jan. 10, hours after Nick Saban announced his retirement.
At the time, Williams told ESPN that he was caught off guard after finding out through social media that the legendary coach was leaving. That sparked his decision to reopen his recruitment while waiting to see who the new coach at Alabama would be.

I honestly think Alabama will be more dangerous than before. This new coach knows how to run an offence. I think the new coaching staff Will bring one hell of an offensive game plan with them.

@@josephsellers5978wtf are you talking about? UGA’s defense wasn’t any good? 😒 Who outside of Michigan had a legit defense in the Big10? Cause Ohio St’, Penn St or Iowa surely didn’t have defenses worth a crap. Big10 also without a doubt had the worst offenses of any conference so I highly doubt Michigan’s defense finishes as high as they do if they didn’t play such a cupcake schedule. (And perhaps still cheated… we will see) There’s a reason Ole Miss and Mizzou shut Ohio St. and Penn St up. Pretty sure Iowa gave up a ton of points to who? LSU’s or Tenn’s backups? Texas A&M finished as one of the worst teams in the SEC yet had a ton of 5 stars in their front 7 and was harder to run on than UGA or Michigan. But by all means, keep opening your pie hole and remove all doubt that you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.

@@josephsellers5978 Washington’s system is a great offensive system. Dude beat Oregon twice, Texas, and was competitive for most of the title game. With ZERO 5 stars on his roster. The system is great. Only problem is if Alabama’s OL is athletic enough to run the rushing scheme Deboer & Grubb like to run.

If you’re not from the southeast you may not know who Ryan is, let me tell ya I’ve been watching this kid since he started for Saraland as a freshman. He the most talented WR I’ve watched play at the HS level. Saraland has turned into a 6A powerhouse in AL HS football, the past two years when they hit the playoffs every single opponent they played knew they needed to stop Williams to win. However in every game Ryan would literally take over and produce highlight TD after another against the best competition in the state. In many of their biggest playoff games Ryan would score on the first or second play of offense when everyone in the stadium had heard the hype beforehand! He simply couldn’t be covered by 99.9% of HS DBs. Just watch the highlights from Saraland vs Hillcrest Tuscaloosa the past two seasons which were two excellent games or watch Saraland vs Mountian Brook or Clay Chalkville which were the past two state championship games in 6A. This kid is an absolute baller! Reminds you of Devonte Smith that won a Heisman at Bama in 2020 but I actually think Hollywood has more explosive speed and might run a little crisper route as a HS player. Many people compare him to a young Justin Jefferson also. He showed out at the Alabama vs Mississippi all star game scoring multiple TDs, then a few weeks later participated in the Under Armor All America game where he caught a TD pass on his teams opening drive and little later threw another TD! He was named Mr Football the past two years in the state of AL as a sophomore and junior(first player to ever win this award as a sophomore in AL HS history). He reclassified and has forgone his senior season this year. This kid is a generational talent imo and will play as a true freshman in the SEC as a 17 yr old which he will be turning in the coming weeks! In his HS career in three seasons he had 3300 yards receiving and 47 receiving TDs, then he also ran for 1100 more yards and had 24 rushing TDs. He ended up with 74 career TDs and didn’t even play his senior season!😳

He really stands out especially in the state of Alabama since Alabama doesn’t produce many top receivers, yes Julio Jones came out of Foley but that was years ago. Louisiana has produced multiple guys through the years as talented as Ryan Williams. In the past few years Justin Jefferson, JaMarr Chase, Malik Nabers, heck even the guy you compared him to Devonta Smith are all Louisiana guys. I totally understand the excitement of Ryan Williams in Alabama, and he’s going to ball out in Coach Grub’s and Coach Deboers system. I just hope Milroe can get the passing game down, yes he throws a nice deep ball, but intermediate and short routes matter as well.

@@dweez4703 LOL. Why would he do that? Bama's new coach runs a pass-happy offense, and has brought his own offensive coordinator, QB, and center with him. Bama now has 19 5 star players and 46 4 stars. They will again be a top ten team, if not top five. So he has no reason to leave Bama. If he didn't want to play for the new coach, he would have signed with one of the other teams that wanted him.

Was a little worried a couple weeks ago about the WR room. But now all the sudden…..Bernard comes in and Williams recommits. Law, Prentice, Bernard, Odom (TE but dude is a receiving nightmare), and Williams is looking like a very solid group. Plus I’m sure one of the 3 FR and SO receivers will emerge (I’ll go Henderson).

DeBoer was a genius coach hire and we will be seamless, and I think a bit better because of the new energy and determination. This is a symbolic recruit get. Obviously Saban isn’t at Alabama anymore but the last time I checked there isn’t a Saban at any other school either. Bama will be absolutely fine. Bama haters making such a big deal out of losing Proctor, Sayin’ and Caleb Downs must not know much about Bama. Proctor’s backup is Elijah Pritchett who was a 5 star/ #1 OT in his class, Sayin’ would’ve had to compete with Ty Simpson after Milroe left, both QBs Ty/Sayin’ were 5 star players/#3 overall QBs in their classes according to 247. As for Caleb Downs? Well it helps that Bama just signed four 5 star DBs in Jaylen Mbakwe, Zabien Brown, Zay Mincey and transfer Domani Jackson. They also signed DB Peyton Woodard who was a 5 star on rivals up until a month ago. Also helps they kept all 11 players on the roster that were ranked 5 stars at the DT/DE/Edge/OLB/MLB positions by at least 1 major recruiting service. Rtr!

Ryan Williams was much needed at the WR position due to roster attrition. But keep in mind he will be 17yo and undersized and Saarland is not the SEC. So don’t put too much pressure on him early. Especially coming in during the summer. But we need CB’s, OT’s, and maybe a safety or two from the portal for depth. We are very thin at all the aforementioned positions. Had proctor stayed and Caleb downs along with Trey Amos…no worries. But we have to face the facts that we are very thin in experience at all of the aforementioned positions and the only hope to add talent is after spring practice which gives the transfers very limited time to get acclimated
