let's be very clear because people always leave out this fact. Steph was a very talented player that was incredibly injury-prone. @elliemyers64352 жыл бұрын
This is a good point. Because I think the year before Steph signed this deal, he missed like 50 games, so, getting that was some good security for him. Now, if he had "bet on himself" and not signed that deal, and got a bigger max (which he absolutely would've gotten), then, Dray is right. No way they can sign KD, probably can't sign Andre, and they probably can't keep both Dray and Klay. It's amazing how things work out in hindsight. Plus, steph has gotten SUPER paid since (and is worth every penny), so everything REALLY worked out for all parties. It's also wild how for that 2009 draft class, how low that extension was, and how it ballooned up after the lockout in 2012.

What is refreshing is that he did not extort his team AFTER he signed the contract like so many NFL players do. Stephen is a leader and a legend and is remarkably selfless. Intelligent man as well. And he is a solid family man. He is blessed in so many ways. Draymond is so good in the new media. He is too good for tv! There is an NFL player who bet on himself and continues to get slammed. Kirk Cousins. He was never taken seriously and was always lowballed. He worked the system as it was set up playing by the rules and never extorting his team. He might never be more than a good QB, but there are ways to have honor and to act like a man instead of a spoiled brat.

This is a great perspective. Yes Curry was definitely worth more. But there is no question that staying with the Warriors with that team enhanced his brand immensely and gave him more leverage negotiating with Under Armour and other brands. Lose the battle but win the war

Steph always as real and true as he is genuinely! He was so smart at such young age! And, trusting yourself and betting on yourself when you’re young is worth everything in life given the opportunity! If you lose, that’s a good experience and you can start again because you still have time. Always love Steph and go Warriors. You did good, Dray!

@@Boogzgaming Really? I thought Curry's were still sporting the UA Logo front and center, like I don't think the UA should be on there at all, I feel the same way about Kawhi's shoes, and really any player thats taking a risk with a shoe brand

@@Tony-fq5bn the logo brand u're looking for is on Steph's cap 🧢
@Tony-fq5bn2 жыл бұрын
@@harbeyygonz7445 Ya I remember that one now, its the major logo on his latest shoe as well although the UA is still a small accent. I woulda gone with a non letter logo, but I don't think Curry's shooting form is quite as iconic as Jordan's dunk form, the SC does remind me of Sportcenter tho
@morunz2 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t until after his second championship where Curry got his own signature brand and take things his way. Prior to that, it was only “SC30” on a very small batch of basketball items. UA has even allowed the Curry brand to fully collab with his charity foundation and youth basketball camps.

We as humans tend to think of happiness in relevant terms. We don't ask if this car, house, job is great but we tend to want to compare and think is this the best? I don't know if we'll ever be able to get away from that but I respect those who are able to not live a bitter life but appreciate what great things have happened to them.

Looking at "the bigger picture", sounds cliche but it speaks volumes. Steph being humble and looking at the bigger picture makes him one of the greatest champions in the game of basketball. Cutting his pay for keeping his team and selecting the right pieces is a great formula for players to make a championship run. We'll see more rings for Steph, Draymond, and Klay.

I can say that forty years ago I was in HS and Nike was still new. I rejected them even before I saw that they had no Black representation in upper management and was not looking to do any hiring of Black people in upper management when MJ was making billions who cared. I remember my friend and I creating out own logo and laughing about it. We did not have anyone around us to encourage our idea but it was a testament that some people see the crowd and do the opposite and trust that there is a higher power that will get them through. I still have some of what I wrote in the early 1980's!
