In the game Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis there are some side missions where you drive around in a car to take scenic photos of dinosaurs. There's one thing I learned that set the Spinosaurus apart from the other dinosaurs... If the Spinosaurus ever takes notice of you, you can _never again_ let your guard down. You can drive off at full speed and when you look behind you it seems like the Spinosaurus gave up the chase. You drive far away to the other side of the island. There you stop to take a breather and start snapping some peaceful photos of other dinosaurs going about the idyllic lives. But if you don't watch your surroundings, a few loud and quick footsteps approaching will be the last things you hear before the Spinosaurus appears unexpectedly from a direction you're not looking and destroys your car, spelling a mission failed. BTW, I see you using clips from a lot of Jurassic Park games, such as 'Evolution', 'Trespasser', TellTale's 'The Game' and several early console games, but I don't think I've seen you use clips from what is arguably Evolution's precursor; 'Operation Genesis'. Have I just not seen the videos where you use clips from that game yet, or do you not bother because Evolution fills that niche with better graphics?

My theory is that the marine encountered the Spinos child, got his arm bitten, and then shot the baby and killed it. We hear him shoot at something, and then when he runs to the runway his arm is covered in blood. If the adult was the one that attacked him, it would be much more than his arm that would be injured. It would explain the grudge too, and fit in with the 2 other villain dinosaurs. The raptors are only hunting because they had their eggs stolen. The Pterosaurs are attacking to feed their babies.

I've read that in some versions, the Spino was chasing to avenge its young that the mercs killed. There's also some stuff out there about the secret project that made it where it was subjected to months and months of experimentation. Basically, every backstory I hear about the Spino suggests it's not attacking the humans because it wants food. It looks to me like it is attacking them because of an instinctual drive to punish and kill them, as they represent a threat to it on some level. Kind of like how the Rex's chased the people in The Lost World for days because of their threat response instincts after their off spring was put in peril. Even though we know they had a carcass back at the nest.

What happens is that they’re simply territorial, I believe it’s explained in the novels more so than the movies but their encounters widened the dinosaurs perceived territory so they were just trying to get the humans off their lawn.

One fanfic I read that really fleshed out the Spinosaurus as a character and showed his own POV attributed it to the fact that after he swallowed the satellite phone, its frequent loud ringing scared off most if not all of his prey, and he was smart enough to recognize that the human he had eaten just before the ringing started had something to do with it, so he was so *pissed* that he wanted revenge even after he finally crapped the phone out.

I think it was combination of it being a highly aggressive hybrid (similar to the I-Rex but not to the extent of how deranged the I-Rex was) and the the plane hitting it. The spino was naturally more aggressive than the T-Rex. All of this plus the new scent of humans on the island was probably very distinguishable and easy to track.

I'm going for one of two theories: 1) The Spino was created but came out as a hyper intelligent, hyper aggressive freak of nature, hence its isolation on Site B and was in fact a prototype for the Indominus Rex. It was genuinely pissed off at getting hurt and wanted to take revenge. 2) Lots of predators will be aggressive towards perceived threats in their territory. The injury was taken as an attack from the humans (it followed the plane afterwards) and when it got the scent/taste of its "attackers" it instinctively felt the need to take out a potential rival to its limited food sources.

And since genetic modification of many varying degrees is a reoccurring theme within the franchise i find it very plausible that there would be a modified spinosaurus that’s more aggressive and intelligent than it should. If you look back at the first book there’s a scene where Dr. Wu (can’t spell) argues with Hammond about how the dinosaurs needed to be dumbed down, especially the raptors. And how he has this whole new line of dinosaurs with altered genes to where they are “slower” and more fitting for the public’s eye of how dinosaurs should be. Now this doesn’t exactly prove my or your theory but it is an interesting point that can leave a lot to interpretation of these creatures and their many different iterations of genetic manipulation. You can also see that with the different types of raptors. Especially in Jurassic world how the four raptors we had were part of different series of raptors with varied gene alterations. I’m kinda getting off topic here but my point stands. It’s definitely plausible that the spinosaurus would have abnormalities from the genetic sequencing and alterations that geneticists played around with on site b.

Zachary Rendon oooo interesting. That would possibly come in with territorial behavior. The apex predator smells the scent of another apex within its territory and therefore senses a threat and that apex must therefore defend its territory. Perhaps the spino felt the humans were a threat because they did in fact clip the spinos’s sail which in turn put a threat on the spinosaurus’s life since the sail is very sensitive and if broken would kill the spino.

A broken spinosaurus sail has already been found and it wasn't fatal at all, let alone have killed it. Any damage to the sail would directly break the sail bone, leaving the spine unharmed.

Kinda reminds me of the Tiger, they've been very vengeful. One hunter had shot one of the animals, but never killed it. The hunter left for three months forgetting about the animal entirely. Unfortunately, the tiger didn't. It in fact, and I know it sounds crazy, but it went to the hunter's personal hut where he stayed while hunting, and waited 3 *years* until the hunter returned. Maybe it's a combo of the two. Having been mistreated by humans, the JP3 Spino already has a deep-seated resentment to mankind, which is why it pursued Cooper onto the runway. Being hit by a plane piloted by people only further increased the Spino's hatred into something personal.

For example the battle beetwen the Spino and the Rex was just too soon, while a slower build up for Spinosaurus would have been much better, that and I really would have keept the scene where raptors save the surivors by killing it, this as it would have been an amazing twist of the ending of the first movie.

@@MrTroodon_Official Minus the dumb, dead-looking eyes that made it look worse/more fake up close (opposite of the Rex from JP and TLW) the Spinosaurus had a cool design and could have made for a much more iconic and well-liked dinosaur than what we got. I hated how it killed that T-Rex and how it just kept showing up over and over again; it should have been a one-off and a surprise. That scene near the end where it rises up out of the river would have been a perfect time to introduce it: no warning, no "here it is again" - just, "Oh my god, what is that? Is that a Spinosaurus!? IT IS!!!" Saving it for that one scene would have given it much more of a cult-favorite status like the Dilophosaurus and would have avoided the whole backlash it got from killing the T-Rex. I can vouch for myself and everyone I know that having the Spino kill the Rex made us like it _less_ a a dinosaur from the series, as it was trying too hard; suffered from "3rd film syndrome" i.e. where the third film in a series tries too hard to outdo the first two films and ultimately falls flat because of it: Iron Man 3, Dark Knight Rises, JP///, Alien 3 - the list goes on. Just have them be dinosaurs being dinosaurs: that was enough for us all back in the 90's - why muck it all up with nonsense like mutants and "you hurt me - me angry!" and all that jazz? Just give us the animals "doing what they do", as Grant put it.

Canonically it makes sense that this "Apex Predator" dominated the Northern region of Isla Sorna as it's own territory and the protagonists were recurringly finding themselves amidst its usual trails and paths on which it hunted or traveled. This is even evidenced by them finding the large mounds of Spino feces in one scene. As for film making, we can attest this to some sloppy writing.

I never viewed it as him following them, I always saw them just running into each other coincidentally. First encounter happened probably because of the megaphone (and then he just followed the target). Second encounter happened because Eric and his father were yelling at each other (yelling can be heard on miles, although Spinosaurus was probably closer than that due to the phone being heard in spite of it being within Spinosaurus' belly). Third encounter happened because they ran into his territory (near river, it's even designated by the pile of shit). Btw. one strange thing which I noticed in JP and JW movies... why are the dinosaurs active both during day and night? Do they not sleep?

I personally think there are 3 main reasons the Spinosaurus follows them. 1. The entered it's territory. When they land, the Spinosaurus is the first dinosaur they find on foot which could have meant they entered it's home where it has children or they entered a hunting ground or even it's home if it's a single predator. 2. The point Klayton already announced, they tore it's scale. So it would have followed the thing that hurt it, then found there were unknown creatures inside, it already ate one, so maybe it wanted more. 3. The actual studies of the Spinosaurus say it would never have fought a T-Rex because it resembled more of a crocodile or alligator. So it traveled in the water and ate fish (As shown in it's last encounter.) and perhaps humans are of decent size for it to eat, similar to a large fish.

The blood being the Spinos has only just allowed me to realise why the plane couldn't gain any more height and crashed. I always thought it was coopers blood and that the plane just skimmed the top of the sail, but I couldn't understand why the plane would then just not continue flying up as it was... but if the propeller did in fact slice up the sail it would have destroyed the propeller, this explains why in the cockpit view immediately after, the plane banked to the left, got corrected and then nosed down into the trees, the plane barely had enough speed to pull up at the time the Spino got in the way and Nash yanked the yolk back, This low airspeed coupled with losing an engines thrust meant the plane had no choice but to go back down and crash. I was 4 when JP3 came out, I've watched 10s of times since, and I could never understand why the plane had to crash, and now I've figured that out I feel like it makes perfect sense :D Couple all that with the Spino being mad that a 'Flying Beast' was able to hurt it that badly, It made it it's mission to go after the plane and kill it, realising it hadn't killed all it's passengers/offspring (they could have been it's babies, being carried) It went on to hunt them all down so that they wouldn't grow up to be such a flying beast that would be capable of hurting the Spino again in the future. I know that's a bit of a stretch, but we must remember that Beasts dont think logically, they have instincts and not much else, the Spinos chain of instinctual thoughts here would have been, /Defend/Attack/Kill/Identify/Kill/ It never got to the last /kill/ in its chain of thought, and spent the whole movie trying to finish the chain. EDIT; I also Just read that maybe Cooper has shot and killed some baby Spinos? (Because if the adult Spino had hurt Cooper, he'd have died immediately, not run away to the air field) This would have fuelled the Spino into a frenzy of revenge. One of your (the 'Flying Beast') babies killed one of mine, now I've killed you and I'll kill your babies (to stop them killing more of mine in the future) That seems to be a plausible idea too

From my experience of watching the movie, it is the Spinos blood after it is hit by the plane, like the example given in this video. Though now I think on it, Cooper and that other guy (forgot his name) must have done something else to upset that Spino..As they are clearly running off into the woods to get a perimeter going. Nothing is actually seen, but I believe Cooper and his buddy must have stepped a little too close on the Spino's last nerve (for whatever reason). Most likely the Spino at first was just defending its terrority (or potentionally, a nest) that both Cooper and that other guy came across. Just a light theory that came by me.

My thoughts on it are that since the humans physically hurt the Dinosaur, they would be seen as a threat to the dominance it currently had so it hunted them down to prove it was the apex predator on the island.
