You should look into buying jet A instead of kerosene. It’s cheaper, go to Airnav and look at your local airports. It normally runs $5-8 a gallon for non-bulk purchase. It’s basically ultra filtered kerosene.

I know this is an old video, but I figured I'd say something about the sponsor, Bespoke Post. I had their boxes from Oct. '20- April '21. First off, the quality of the stuff I got, wasn't by any means, bad. I also liked that I could text with Customer Service, and they were fairly quick and to the point, the few times I did deal with them... However, it always felt lacking. My first big disappointment was with the Barebones hatchet I added to a box. $60 for a hatchet, that honestly has a hard time putting up with just menial yard work, in a suburban home, and a head that seemingly never wants to stay snug, and a handle that is just too thin. Was it a bad item? Not really. Did it feel like it was worth $60? Not really. Which is kind of how I felt about the boxes I received, in general. Everything felt 'meh'. I never received any box as nice as seen in this video, cause obviously, I wasn't sponsored, but this kind of gives a false perception of what you get in a single box. Point is, Bespoke isn't bad, but I kind of felt like I was shopping in a hipster store; stuff that looks cool, but is overpriced and meh in quality.

Cody, I'm far from being a safety Sally but it's not a good idea to store all of that fuel inside your shop. I would check with your insurance provider to see if you would even be covered in the event of a fire. Same goes for your outside diesel and gas storage. I would set up a fueling area safe distance from your building. Look at getting one of those 8×8 shipping containers and place it a safe distance from your fueling station and keep your 5 gallon cans in it. That way you have 2 different locations for emergency fuel and in case of an accidental fire you won't loose all of it or any of your buildings and equipment
@Knallteute4 жыл бұрын
Also those cans aren't really fume save so you can create a easy expanding atmosphere if you know what I mean.
@knurlgnar244 жыл бұрын
Never ask an insurance provider such questions or you're inviting trouble. These are government approved gasoline containers stored in a shop - it will be fine. Storing it in a shipping container will both age the fuel faster due to heat and be a huge pain. People seem to think gasoline will burst into flames spontaneously - it's actually a very picky fuel and only burns in a narrow range of fuel air mixture. Even if one of those containers broke a weld and leaked all 5 gallons onto the floor overnight there would be basically no fire risk. What he is doing in the video is the right way to do it.

Wow, kerosene is expensive over there! We pay about $4 a gallon in Tokyo, it is still used a lot for heat here. I use a similar (not as nice) as the storage containers for tools etc that travel to job sites. One thing that I do is take a can of spray paint and spray some color on the box and the lid. If you label the lids then they get mixed up onto the wrong box it's a problem. The added benefit is I can say to someone "Grabe the box with the red paint on it" or "Grab the box with the blue and green stripes" this really helps. Cheers!

Fork Lift Tip! We use our forklift for maybe 5 minutes once a week, but when we need it, we really need it. Love the 20+ minute videos. Get my wranglerstar fix much better than 12 or 13 minute videos. Just got to the part right after the box and instinctually felt like the video was about to end.. then I checked and still had 10min left! Lol good work, best channel.

Storing all that fuel in a room a with a large air compressor is incredibly dangerous. They specifically warn about this on compressor licensing tests.

@@wranglerstar I love your videos and appreciate every video you share with us. Please do a quick google search on this one. Mechanics get killed like this. The compressor can suck in fuel vapor and compress it in the tank. If you need to keep the compressor in that room, you can make it safe by elevating it since fuel vapor is heavier than air. I almost never comment on videos. I commented on this one because I care about human beings and this honestly scared me. Sorry if I offended you.
@raidrunner4 жыл бұрын
@@JamesThompson-ol3eu fuel vapor is heavier than air. On a hot day the compressor slowly fills with more and more compressed fuel vapor until someone dies. It’s such a real problem that they cover it in industrial compressor training and fire department training.

Hey Cody, we recently had a fire in our home and it forced us to take a hard look at our collection. I'm sure you went through something similar when you moved. living in a hotel for 4 months with our kiddos (4 of them), we have had a big lesson in how little a person can get by with. I would love to support your sponsor but I'm afraid of what our closets and drawers would look like after a year or so of those monthly packages LOL. God bless you and your beautiful family. Congrats on the new homestead.

Yeah, Im not understanding this at all. He seems to be playing the victim card a bit too much without ever really explaining why people are after him. I see this a lot on KZbin channels. Trust me, if someone was truly being treated unfairly they would be explaining every point to the finest detail. Likely he is simply running afoul of local ordinances. Strikes me as the sort of person who would try to fight city hall.

I just bought a 55 gal. Drum of Kerosene for under $300 for the same reasons, oil lamps and such. I know a lot of places are outrageous on kerosene, but wow.

lots of people including myself in siskiyou county run kerosene monitor heaters and wood stoves for heat since there is no natural gas up here. I just bought 150 gallons at 2.49 a gallon..theres a kerosene pump at one of the stations for 350 a gallon. The nice thing is if shtf you can always run kero in your truck or helicopter!!

Spot on about the forklift and sturdy shelving. It is tempting to build wood shelves but you just can't beat the capacity of pallet racking for its size. Great video.

I don’t know if you thought of this, but I had a friend with a forklift without brakes and I was designing him an external cam brake that used the tire for resistance. Similar to some cheap go carts for perspective. Via con dios
@GunnerAsch14 жыл бұрын
Guys...most forklift brakes are cheap as hell to fix. They are basiclly the same on older cars. Most often its the master cylinder and they are bout 30 bucks. Remember...fork lift companies have huge markups on stuff...so source it online or at the Autozone, etc etc.

Sarcasm warning. Loved the 6:12 'stenciled, that way our wives don't accidentally put the wrong fuel in the wrong equipment'. Reminded me that had Moses listened to his wife Zipporah, they wouldn't have wandered forty years, but would have taken the right exit the first time (big smile)

If I can suggest. Get a mounted gravity fuel tank. Gas, diesel . Put the 100 gallon, with hand pump in truck, trailer when you need to get fuel. (Drop chain onto ground when filling, emptying...) A 265 gallon 2’ wide tank on pipe legs with simple brace. You can have valve at comfortable level to fill cans. The tank can be filled by bulk truck. Often cheaper, free delivery if over 250 gallons in most areas.
