Hi Dr.Berry, I loved your videos and practically they saved my life! My A1C came down from 10.2 to 6.3 in 6 months and I am off most of my medications except for one blood pressure medicine. My doctor wouldn't believe it but I just let the test data speaks for itself! In my doctor's mind, she thinks I am too extreme! I saw your Lemon water video and I agreed with you that just lemon juice by itself doesn't provide much benefit! However, if you use the whole lemon (including the skin and everything), it does have some health benefits in my opinion. Four months into my diet, my weight loss stalled and my blood sugar stayed at 110 mg/dL for some reasons that I wasn't aware of. I couldn't figure out why they stalled and what I screwed up! I tried everything and I even thought my black tea and my blood pressure medication was the cause of the problem. I stopped them and nothing change except my blood pressure was getting higher! Then I saw one of the videos from Dr.James Kneller about how he eats a lemon a day and its health benefits. I figured I would give it a try. The way he's doing is kind of gross I have to admit! So I turned the whole lemon into a drink with water and added Stevia. To my surprised, my blood sugar went down to 85 mg/dL that afternoon and it stayed there. And my weight loss resumed within the next few days. I am not medically smart enough to understand why or what's going on but I have to believe that the whole lemon juice did affect my body chemistry somehow. I've been drinking this cocktail for two weeks now. And my sugar is at 75mg/dL now and my weight is going down slowly! I just want to put it out here and perhaps you can investigate if the whole lemon approach indeed has some benefits that we are not aware of. After all, what you are doing is indeed life saving and I really want to help this community to spread out the words and fix some health problems that pharmaceutical companies don't want anyone to fix! God bless you. David

Hello 😊 I would love to share something that happened to me a while back. My cholesterol had gone sky high, and my kidney doctor wanted to set in a extra medicine to get it down. I was already using lots of medication because of my kidney failure, and told her to give me a couple of weeks to try something else. For the next two weeks I ate garlic every day. And I love garlic. I ate it raw, just chopped it up, and swallowed it with a glass of water. Two weeks later I was back in the hospital for a check up, and I will NEVER forget the doctors face when she was checking my blood test results. She turned around, looked at me, with eyes full of unbelief, saying: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE????? Your cholesterol is 100 % NORMAL. Anyone even remotely familiar with Dr. Berg's videos knows very well that he would never endorse the idea that just drinking water with lemon would work miracles. Lemonade with real lemon was recommended, but I did not want the sugar. So I started drinking a glass of lemon juice from a fresh lemon every morning. lol, no, I'm not giving up my lemons. I had fatty liver at stage S3. After a year of strict carnivore, it improved only slightly. I started blending a quarter to half of a lemon, peel and all, into 12oz of water daily (I missed a day here and there). By the time of my next fibroscan, my fatty liver was down to stage 0 ... very little fatty infiltration left (and the next HIDA scan showed my sluggish gallbladder was finally functioning perfectly normal after years of issue). And here's the kicker: after starting with the daily lemon water, about halfway through the year I stopped carnivore and went to a more high protein Mediterranean style diet ... yep, carbs baby. The quick and simple act of blending a quarter or half lemon daily for a refreshing lemon water drink, seemed to play a significant role in reversing my fatty liver, not to mention it brought my cholesterol down about 25 points. I’ve been watching your (Dr. Barry’s) videos for a long time and I’ve always respected your opinion, but on this video, I just don’t understand. my story. I believe my father had stage four kidney failure. Somebody told me to Add little lemon juice and apple cider vinegar to his water every day and will get rid of his stones and flushes kidneys out. I’m not a physician, but I did it because I love my dad and wanted him to be as healthy as possible. That being said I did this for three months, my dad sadly ended up, passing away, His primary care physician specialized in geriatrics, contacted me to give his condolences. And after doing so he said, I want to read you your dad‘s test results on his kidneys. It couldn’t understand why my father‘s kidneys went from beginning in stage kidney failure to kidneys of a 20 year-old. I always kept him in the loop of everything I I would try from a natural approach. So when he said this to me, I said all I did is give him was a little lemon juice and little apple cider vinegar with his water for the last three months. I’m not sure he believed me! but that’s really all I did! So obviously the test proves that it did work. Shortly, there after my mother-in-law was on dialysis, and had in stage kidney failure. She did her research and went forward with the same approach, and now her kidneys are way way way better! And not on dialysis anymore. I believe we have a lot to learn about the human body and what it truly is capable of. There must be something to it! Just my opinion.

About ten years ago I lost a kidney due to being a “stone-maker.” I had stones in the my surviving kidney as well! I started drinking lemon water every day, first thing in the morning. Each year I go in for an ultrasound. Bottom line, I’m kidney stone free. I do agree that it makes water easier and more enjoyable to drink, but anecdotally I’m giving it a thumbs up for eliminating my kidney stones.

How are you sure that the lemon water itself is the reason your blood work improved? If you increased your water consumption as a whole, and changed your diet and lifestyle, it’s impossible to know that the lemon water is what saved you. The only way it would be proof is if you kept every single thing in your life the same (including the amount of water you already consume) and just added lemon everyday. I think people are really passionate about lemon water because it helps them to consume more water in general which makes them feel better which is great! But if there’s no scientific evidence then there’s just not.

Before October 2013 my wife and I, daily, would talk about our heartburn. ‘How many Tums did you take today or how many Zantac did you take”? Like I said, this was a daily discussion. She heard about all of the benefits of lemon water. None of the benefits had to do with heartburn. In October 2013, we started drinking lemon water daily. I had GERD when I was 14; and was prescribed afew medications that had to be issued by a doctor(Tagament and Regulen, not sure if that's how they're spelt). They were horrible for side effects, so after afew years they came out with doctor prescribed Prevacid; to which I started taking daily. I was on that until I was 17, because my doctor would only prescribe me a 30-day supply and then want me back in for a doctor visit every 30 days(mind you, I was paying $60 per visit, and $250 a month for the pills at the time); one day I asked "Has anything changed in the last six months? Am I getting better or worse?" and he said "Nothing will change, you'll always have GERD." and I said "Then why don't you prescribe me 6-12 months at a time? Why am I coming in here every 30 days if nothing is going to change or needs to be tracked?" and with a straight face he says "I just like to see you." I got angry; and I told him I'll not be coming back, he can shove the prescription up his ass. Walked out, paid for that visit; and I never saw him again as a family doctor. I'm 41 now; he's retired. Here's something they don't tell you; DIET is how you manage stomach acid and GERD. Lifestyle changes, not medication. I was taking over the counter omeprazole for years, because it was the same thing as Prevacid but didn't require a doctor's prescription. I took those until I was 30; and then I did my own research; and learned that by taking proton pump inhibitors(Zantac, omeprezole, prevacid, etc) that your stomach goes into over-drive trying to create more stomach acid since it's acid secretion is being stymied. So if you miss a dose or two; you REALLY pay for it. Know what the solution is? Stop taking them, ween yourself off of them; DEAL with the flare-ups; and then start making better lifestyle choices for what you eat. I still have GERD, but after a month my stomach acid production went back to normal and I wasn't coughing it up into my throat, nor was it readily shooting up into my throat or mouth like it was before. I actually almost suffocated afew times as a teenager from the excess acidic mucous in my stomach, it covered my windpipe and almost killed me in my sleep. This mucous was so bad that when I'd brush my teeth in the morning, I'd have to cough it up off the top of my stomach; and it was a thick, viscous slime; it took hot water and soap to actually wash it off my hands and down the drain; but I had to cough it up every morning to 'clear' the top of my stomach, otherwise it would get coughed up into my throat and choke me during the day. I can now eat things I used to not be able to touch, chili, spaghetti, etc. I tend to stay away from acidic foods for the most part, and I'm not a fan of spicy foods at all; but it's so much better than it was 15+ years ago through most of my adult life and childhood. With GERD I have to becareful how I sit or sleep, and obviously can't have anything 'bad' to eat before bed or I risk it coming back up in my throat; but that's just life with GERD itself; when it comes to eating foods, the most I have to worry about is an upset stomach, bloating and diarhea; but that's part of making better food choices or being prepared for the outcome of what I eat. Also of note; I don't take Tums or anything else; I don't take any medicines to settle my stomach or alter anything like that anymore; because those act as band-aids; and for those of us with intestinal issues we can't be covering them up; we need to be more pro-active with our choices and accept that we gotta curb ourselves away from bad food decisions.

He helped my husband (who reversed Type 2 diabetes) and I turn our health around. I believe that he's sincere in his efforts to help people. And whether he is right or wrong we should remember that no one is going to be right 100% of the time no matter how well meaning. Many people tout research today that will be debunked tomorrow. And Dr. Berg heavily relies on studies. He doesn't just make anecdotal or surmised pronouncements. Let me also say that many of the doctors who are doing functional medicine are chiropractors. They had a whole body approach when typical Western trained M.D.s were treating symptoms and dismissing concerned patients like me. My husband's doctor told him he would need to be on medication for the rest of his life to manage his diabetes. At 31! So much respect to all the "not a doctors" out there who had more integrity than many "real doctors". There are great people and awful people in every profession. I hope nobody really thinks it proves anything. There are many viruses responsible for the common cold, hundreds of them. Once you've encountered most of them (it happens soon or later, no need to have symptoms each time) and provided you are reasonably healthy you almost never get a cold. That's that simple. Note the terms "most of them" and "almost" there are important. So you can stay easily 3 or 4 years without getting a single cold but one day you meet one of the few ones that your immune system didn't know yet and you are ill for a few days or even for 3 weeks. I may stop at flavored seltzer or I may go to plain seltzer or just plain water at some point, who knows. Phase two also includes taking all carbs from all meals and having zero meals with starches per day instead of one. I see all these people who go cold turkey to carnivore and they end up having super bad sugar withdrawals or they just feel sick at first and one of the people I trust who does carnivore said that some long-term heavy sugar addicts, like me, have to wean themselves down first or their withdrawals will be unbearable.

Good point about these kinds of videos. AND Dr. Berg has tons and tons of Keto and now even carnivore videos. Your style is blunt, to the point - "eat your fatty meat". This is fine, but there are so many grey areas and areas of health concern that you don't cover. Dr. Berg covers these things, and these videos can be extremely helpful. He had a protocol for shingles that saved me. Even my mainstream doc was asking for it so she could help her dad - when she had nothing for him but a medication with many side effects. Lemon water has helped me pee! I'm Keto five years now, but sometimes the flow is slow. Seriously, this is doing something. And apple cider vinegar does reduce the insulin repose if you've have some carb creep.If Dr. Berg was ONLY making light weight clickable content, I'd agree with you- but he's not. He does a lot of good, and all your eye rolling over his channel isn't helpful. You guys need to be on the same team - you actually ARE on the same team. Why not go after some of these docs/influencers who have nothing but old/bad science to back up their claims?

It took me 3mos before I saw the weight and figure take shape. It took me years so I know for a fact that weight loss will not happen at the snap of a finger. Have you tested this with just increased water without lemon? It might be that it's the water that does this and lemon just helps you with the taste. Because, if you start drinking lemon water than that means you increased your water intake as well. Unless you already drank that amount of water and just added lemon to it but for most people that is not the case. Also, are you certain nothing else in your diet and lifestyle has changed that might have contributed to this positive outcome? When multiple factors are to be taken into consideration, you cannot isolate a single factor as beneficial. I'm not saying it does nothing, but you should take other factors into consideration too. I had passed 6 kidney stones in the previous ~15 years or roughly one every 2-3 years. He said it seemed to help some patients but was mostly anectodal and worst case it offered some more vitamin C and antioxidants so no harm if not effective if I wanted to try it. I have had one stone slowly forming, but in the 8 years since taking that shot daily I haven't passed it yet and this was the only change made to my diet or medicines. @davidroush1224 Жыл бұрын
@@fabio.1 Yes on reducing oxylates, but not sure regarding K2. I have started taking K2 based on other studies that suggesded it has heart health benefits so the potential kidney stone benefit was just a bonus in my mind. Good luck finding out what works for you.

I think the individual referred to is Dr Berg. In his video, with 11m views and from 2 years ago, Dr Berg does explain with sufficient details the reasons for the benefits he lists and does state that some tests were ran on animals. He doesn’t just recommend lemon water as a miracle drink. He qualifies his statements.
@jeffbehringer12627 ай бұрын
Makes me wonder if he watched the video. He was very clear about the weight loss thing. Anyone that watches any video and doesn’t listen to what’s being said can misinterpret anything.

The one thing that is good about Dr. Berg is that he has a huge following base so for a lot of people he is a good gateway to keto, carnivore. But some of his recommendations are nonsense. Suggesting that the best way to do low carb is to eat 7-10cups of veggies is just ridiculous and not based in science.
@loretta6089 Жыл бұрын
The one thing that is bad about Dr Berg is he is trying to sell his products so if you do everything he says you will be buying dozens of his supplements. Also he is a scientologist which is just crazy

Can confirm. I found Dr. Berg before I found Dr. Berry. It’s just how the KZbin algorithm works. He’s the gateway to the Proper Human Diet.

Most of the time I enjoy your videos and find them helpful and informative. I also know this other 'influencer' you are speaking of here, who also happens to be a doctor albeit not an MD, nor does he claim to be. I enjoy many of his very informative and helpful videos on nutrition and health and I'd say the majority of the info in his videos are in alignment with yours. You may disagree with him but that doesn't make him 'wrong'. I'd say you both could learn from one another and it would be amazing to see the two of you team up and do occasional videos together. I think you would find him humble, and not only willing but eager to learn new things. Not so sure about you though. I know one thing about him. He's not going to take to KZbin or any other social media platform to dog other people or their videos no matter how much he may disagree with them.

I drank lemon water, sometimes with cayenne pepper, multiple times a day. I had a proper, by the book, plant base diet. Growing most of my food. I was sick, pure misery, willing to double down on all recommendations. My endoscopy was a red blotchy, painful ulcer, pre-pyloric mess. Threw up almost hourly. Carnivore has healed my stomach completely . I can poop without pain now too🎉

I have a question about the remarks about having no real benefit of drinking lemon juice in water. I used to wake up nightly with acid reflux. I had to sleep sitting up in bed. The only thing I changed was drinking lemon water on empty stomach in the morning. After about 2 weeks it went away. I have gone 9 months without an occurrence of acid reflux. What caused the change if it wasn’t the lemon water?

natural lemon voice with electrolyte water (2 cups first thing in the morning) has helped me to stay on track with my diet and I am losing at least 15 lbs a month and my waste is getting smaller every week and I look a lot better, even younger. I literally will never go without natural lemon juice again. Lemon does not knock me out of ketosis, I know cause I checked. Lemon is keto-friendly. I drink half a lemon a day.

Maybe it's because of the diet, not the lemon water. Try not drinking the lemon water for a month and see if anything changes.
