One of the best logos on a helmet ever was the "old" NE Patriots helmet & the old orange creamcycle Pirate with the sword in his mouth for the Buccaneers both of those logos were awesome but got changed downgraded one as just a man with patriotic hat the other with a skull

@@billygunn7180 I'm a huge Buccs fan have been since like 1981 they have had some horrible teams lol but hey have also have had some really good ones but those ones usually don't last long but that old cream cycle orange & white & that pirate with the sword in his mouth they really didn't need the change but the irony is they won their first Superbowl with the skull & that is tragic too me lol I just really think those uniforms & helmets were very unique unlike any others in the NFL; they all mainly have reds, blues, greens, or black not many unless you count the Browns & Bengals they use a varient of orange

In 68 the Steelers changed the uniform from the stripes on the sleeves to a yellow yoke. There was plans to move to a new helmet logo. However 68 was a bust so they switched to the yellow and white stripes and white numbers that continue to today and the helmets never changed. In fact the two changes to the uniform since 69, adding the logo to the jersey and moving to NASCAR numbers were both league mandated.

Correction to the video - The Pittsburgh Steelers did not play a playoff game after the 1962 season. They played in a game called the NFL playoff bowl which was between the second-place teams of each conference. This was not a real playoff game because it wasn’t a championship game or it didn’t lead to the winner of the game playing for the NFL championship. So, like most college football bowl games it was nothing more than a glorified exhibition game. They lost to the Detroit Lions by score of 17 to 10. Their first real playoff game did not happen until 1972 When the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Oakland Raiders in the immaculate reception game. One of the most memorable playoff games in NFL history. So the Pittsburgh Steelers are not only tied with the New England Patriots for the most Super Bowl wins with six, they also hold the record for most consecutive seasons without making the playoffs (39) from 1933 to 1971.

The other story was because the logo was Trademarked, they would have had to pay more money for the extra logo on the left side. Hence, just 1 side. And I got this story from an old Steelers fan I had met, who was close to The Chief because if memory serves correct, they went to the same church. He showed me multiple pictures of The Chief and him.

Michigan State wore the block-S logon on one side of their helmets in the 80s and 90s because of George Perles, who was an assistant on those 70s Steelers teams.

Here in chile we have a team named Huachipato, from Talcahuano. Talcahuano is also a steel city and the Huachipato logo has the same stars as the steelers.
