I applaud you both for being proactive in your children's education. I'm a 63-year-old mother and grandmother who homeschooled her 5 children and over 200 other people's children. I operated a family home childcare for over 20 years. Opening a family childcare was the best decision I could've made for our children. They are now all college graduates and professionals. One of my daughters is a school Phycologist who write IEP's, and you are on point. The schools' teachers are not trained well enough if at all. I thank God for you sharing this, because those first five years children learn 80% of what they will learn in their life. God bless you and your family for all you do, PS when my children went to school, I became the PTA president. I wanted to be there involved. That included middle and High School. Teachers knew my name for sure.

I home schooled my child for similar reasons. He now has a successful career after graduating from high school and college as an engineer. It was definitely the best decision I made after consulting God regardless of what others thought. We were able to travel the world and go to states and countries relevant to study topics. I used graduate college students to teach advance subjects/courses I was not prepared to teach. I became a student/parent advocate because of the experiences in the educational systems were falling short. I instruct parents to put everything in writing and if you have to have a verbal conversation bring someone with you, notify them of your right to record the conversations or put a witness via speaker on your phone line.😢 Matthew 5:10-12ù

My grandchildren went to public school, and there were things that their parents had to handle but for them there were other issues to consider. To them and I'm not knocking anyone else's view. They wanted to be in the real world, nothing in the real world is perfect. One of the twins was bullied in 5th grade this boy actually harassed her every day and one day the final thing was he snatched her sandwich and licked it. They stood up and it was handled the proper way, almost the police. That proved to be not necessary. Both twins were bullied and jealous because my daughter and husband were escorts and stem and all types of program again they showed their kids how to function in the real world. A lot of children don't have 2 parents and they even were mentors to some. They in College of Engineering to be a Astronaut. Twin B is in Business school Human Resources did her internship at the end she received a letter for next year her last year and a letter for a job if she wants it. Your way works for you but this way works for them.God Bless You! There are advocates for the very thing your child needs, trust me for those that don't know please advocate and fight for your children and not physically. @@clorethamitchell653 unfortunately the majority of teachers never went to college with intention of becoming teachers. They incurred a great deal of debt and only took the teaching positions to pay off the loans especially those entering into communities and school district dominated by people on the African Diaspora. They are often angry, bitter and aggressive women forced to teach because they didn't meet the right guy while in college and marry well. I have over 30 years of dealing with these types of people. The teachers fortunate to work their desired job usually go and teach in communities without diverse populations. Unfortunately they turn around and discriminate against students that look different and have different needs like Austin. They make it their business to keep student out or put students out that need IEP or 504 Plans. They see it as these students are bringing their school/district rating down. My apologies for the long response. It's a subject where my passion lyes.

It's policy adopted by other Western countries with certain people groups too! Resulting in a high number of boys being in prison by a young age. Go to any of these country regardless of the language spoken, it's repeated over and over. The females are allowed to have more success but in most professions many are then blocked from promotion, steered into the lower earning sides of certain professions, deal with lots of bullying and if they are allowed to be promoted to top positions have to do the job of two/three people. Once they leave their replacement gets paid much more or the job is split. I think all done to drive them crazy. Not to mention the jealousy. I know I'm one of them. 4 more years to retirement and retiring on a lot less income than I should, but many of my peer group gave up the 'fight' due to the continuous mental trauma, so will be retiring on a lot less so will have a poverty driven retirement due to low income and some may have to continue working into old age. Very few of us enjoy true 'equality' in our jobs unless we are super exceptional. Sometimes our own people group give us the hardest time in these arenas. I don't know when we truly win so they've made the right decision for their children. God bless 🙏🏾❤🙏🏾

One of my boys were having a struggle with reading. I was in a meeting with a teacher and principal. I shared with the principal that my son was getting frustrated when doing reading at home. The principal didn’t bother to ask what he was reading at home. She looked and me and said, it’s probably too hard. Little did she know, it was material he had received from school. I knew then in my heart that the school system wasn’t meant for black boys to push beyond a struggle, but to normalize the feeling of being defeated. That was his last year. It’s been a lot of work, but my son has come a long way. We still have work to do, but best believe, I will never tell him anything is too hard.

Everyone in the office acts like they’re afraid of her. Two black boys getting in trouble for going across the street to buy eggrolls and lo mein noodles and they called the police on them and made them submit to a drug test. The test came back negative. You are not alone. This is what I was faced with when I moved to Augusta county Virginia. I honestly didn’t know racism was this real and apparent especially in schools. My son has a IEP at first they pretty much told me my son doesn’t need any or won’t be getting any special assistance because he wasn’t medicated. I fought for my child as best I could and they hated me from the principal down. They hated me for just wanting to get my son help all I was asking is that you help him please help him learn please and they hated me for it. Unfortunately still to this day my son is constantly coming home with F’s. Really all I have is me so it’s hard to manage it all with 4 kids and all of the back and forth when what I found really it all goes no where. My only hope right now is for God to bless me to move to another area because racism is honestly in some places like it was in the 1950’s. I just pray, my only hope is Jesus Christ.

You did the right thing pulling them out. This is incredibly sad. The issue with Austin's situation was that he was placed in a classroom with teachers who lacked both special education experience and experience with diverse children, which became evident when the police report came in. These teachers didn’t have the patience or expertise to handle your child and showed no interest in learning or seeking help to accommodate him. This undermines the "No Child Left Behind" promise. The school only involved you for pick-up, which is troubling. School structures need to improve, as even adults struggle to maintain focus for long periods. The "Responsive Classroom" and other teaching methods should be implemented in more classrooms to better address diverse learning needs. What is this "school culture" if it allows for abuse, neglect, disrespect, and racism? It’s disheartening that they acted differently when they didn’t realize you were educated and educators as well. I always say schools are prep for prisons, with principals as wardens and teachers as correctional officers dictating every aspect of a child’s day( when you can eat, go out side, bathroom, and sometimes nap. People need to understand this

I had to ask her about it because he was there. She said she asked him and he told her he wasn't there. Kids sometimes can't remember what they did 10 minutes ago. I was sitting there like, you saw he took the test and other activities in the class. All she had to do was go back and look in her grade book. I stood up for my child, and I said it wasn't up to her, she said it's going to be hard she has to double up on classes and go to night school. I had to advocate for my child, and I was at the school board every day. My baby worked hard and passed everything. after that I gave my kids options to homeschool or continue public school only one stayed but I educated her on how to advocate for herself. To watch someone’s content and then threaten them, indirectly, through innocent children, is evil.

I'm so glad that the both of you took the high road and didn't allow the opinions, judgement, discrimination, and ignorance of everyone involved in that school to love you. They will have to give an account to God for their actions towards children. That's what gives me comfort . Stay strong y'all...❤🙏🏽

My son attended Neptune Beach in the behavioral program, IEP also. Received all his services, he was the only full minority in his class, but his teacher was wonderful!!! He went well beyond his goals. I would say try there.

You have something that a lot of people don't. Your education. Some children do well being home school and others do not. Some states have a curriculum guide for home school that parents can use and critique. The most important thing is that parents must be involved in their children's education.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Please, Please file a complaint with the State and Federal Department of Education, and NAACP. And I would file a restraining order against Melania and her entire family. This is a perfect descrimination lawsuit. I would sue the entire school system, teachers, principal, and all school boards. Please don't let this go. Please do this for other students as well. Blessing

I was treated less than in 5th grade by a teacher named Mrs.Lynda Sturgill. Mrs. Sturgill put zeros in her grade book for all assignments. My mom would ask be for going to parent teacher conferences if I had to tell her anything. I told her no ma'am. She gets told that I am disrespectful I don't complete assignments. My mom comes home to spank me because according to the teacher and the grade book I lied. I tried to show her my Lisa frank trapper keeper and she ignored it and spanked me instead. After being spanked for nothing I threw my trapper keeper on my moms bed and she saw graded work . My mother immediately came and apologized to me and she was in tears. She went back to the school and Mrs. Sturgill was Reprimanded and she continued to pick at me. This one girl named Jeana got her bookbag dumped on the floor for everyone on the class room to see. I felt bad for her. Kids who weren't of color who were nice to black students were always punished in some way she would find a reason to take recess from them or put them in her personal iss in the back of the class room and write down rules of the classroom. Go home all of the classwork was homework on top of the assigned homework.

There is no transparency in Delaware. Sweeping things under the rug and point blank lying also surrounding Special Education. I have been through a familiar experience and ended up homeschooling, and now he is in a very small Christian school because at 7th grade he wanted the peers and social experience of school. His older brother is an adult so he is my only child left at home. So I told him we will give it this year and pray it checks all the boxes but if not he will be homeschooling next year and continue all the way to graduation. We did try a small public charter school last year and it was very bad. Thanking God for the financial ability through only our Lord to have this last opportunity for meeting my Son's needs. We will stay in prayer to know if it's in his will to continue.

I homeschool my children and I have a ADHD daughter and autism son and I have been homeschooling 5 years and I pulled my daughter out of public school after she was bullied and crying coming home and not feeling safe in school. We work on school together with her. God lead me to homeschool and has kept me on this journey.

My grandson experienced the same and we transferred him. He was able to graduate from high school within 6 months with a regents diploma. He had the credits but the harassment from the school was too much. I was at the school at least 3 times a week. The school to prison pathway is real. Please pay attention to your children in these schools.

God is with your beautiful family. Shame on these administrators and teachers that did not show your children civility, professional empathy and compassion but instead cruelty. You know that NO deed goes unpunished!!! Forgive them and continue to live a with spirit of excellence. When God gave you the ministry to become a influencer, the haters came out! But you are a beautiful family that are bold witnesses of Jesus. Your light draws out the hatred that God wanted to EXPOSE! 😢 Others do not have have your platform... You are the voice for those who can't speak out regarding these issues. So now these individuals are seen...but God already SAW them. They need to repent....because God loves all his little children irregardless of their ethnicity. He will handle it ...trust and believe. That's why it was exposed..I believe. This will be a part of my intercessory prayer. Thank YOU for sharing!!!! May God bless and keep you and His Angels protect you.🙏🙏🙏🙌
