My biggest problem with shooting is the inconsistency, I don’t understand why there is different shot timing across every single mode. Why can’t 2k make the same shot timing in rec, in theatre, in park, in 2k league, in Gatorade facility. It’s absolutely ridiculous that the only way to “test” your jumper is missing a few shots in any given mode you want to play. I literally only play rec for this reason and it’s limiting my online experience. Why does nobody talk about this?

The only problem I have with shooting is you be b labbing up your jumpshot you hitting everything then you go to a different mode rec park proam ect n the jumpshot is completely different. You have your shot cue perfected but on those modes it completely changes. Also the horrible catch animations kill me

The timing feels randomized tbh. On some catch and shoots I can regularly hold and release the button. Then on some catch and shoots depending on the animation I have to adjust whether to hold longer or let go earlier

The weird thing is, my jump shots use to look exactly the same with every shot. But with every jump shot I try, I’ve noticed each shot I take with that jump shot, has a different animation. The animations are NOT the same with every shot. So there’s no real visual cue anymore. There’s so many factors in the jump shot as well, from release timing, the release on controller settings, and also where your stamina bar is at when you take the shot. I’ve noticed every game mode is different. Rec, park, Gatorade, theater, and so on are different. Theres nothing consistent about shooting in this game whatsoever. I’ve even timed these shots and one minute, it’s perfect, then it’s slightly late, and then it’s slightly early. I’m like, is 2K messing with me here?! I’ve tried so many jump shots lately and spent countless hours in the Gatorade court. Every time I nail a jump shot, I take it to the park, might be good for a game or a few shots, then I’m right back to bricking. I have an 85 jumpshot on my big and I’m still struggling horribly with shooting. Then with the shot meter off, I don’t feel there’s any boost whatsoever. I’ve tried with the shot meter on and off, it’s still the same exact results. There’s clearly something wrong and 2K won’t admit it. I have a feeling a silent fix will be coming very soon. The other problem is, offline nba games and online games, the jumpshot timing is still not the same at all. So there’s still latency online. I can nail shots in nba games over and over. Greens everywhere. Then I go online and I build a brick skyscraper.

I complained like everyone else who was missing, I even dropped from 60% on the three to 49% but I promise you guys YOU WILL FIND IT. Yesterday was literally the best shooting day I’ve had in 2k in awhile and the games were consistent(at least in the Rec). My best advice is to scrap your pre patch shot and find something smoother and maybe a bit slower. Good luck boys!

I feel like the badges aren’t increasing green windows after patch like they said the badges would. Most of the people I see struggling in rec are high 3 point builds. Low 3 point builds are used to shooting perfect greens but higher 3 point builds where relying on badges increasing green window sizes. My green window on my 98 3 point build are the same size as my 79 lock.

Shot very consistently last night went to the Gatorade facility and just relearned it. It did take a bunch of shots to actually find it and just to make sure before I went to rec I went to the court next to the Gatorade facility and put some shots up. Also if a teammate passes a bad pass or even late pass don't be afraid to create another shot even spot ups just take a step in side the middy or get comfortable with escape shots I even do this for ppl with low pass accuracy bc it does affect your shot

Thatcontroversialguy- *I don’t know if I am the only one but I sometimes try to wonder if my eyes are just bad nowadays because I can green every shot if I expect the timing to be normal but when my player gets a weird animation when setting his feet or catching the ball off the ground etc I can never make those because the release is much different. I also see people greening even if they get those weird animations but I can’t. For me that’s the most annoying thing is the different shot timings and speed ups, also on defense, moving laterally still is slower than it’s supposed to be. 90 lateral quickness is still slower than 90 speed with ball/animations* Speed with ball/acceleration

As of today, I have given up on being competitive on 2K, it should NEVER be this hard to shoot in a video game. Too many variables in patches that changes gameplay. When the game dropped I could shoot, now I can't shoot. Now 2K wants real player % for 3-point percentage!!!! Sadly I’ve spent over $300 on 2K & I'm not even having fun🤦🏾🤕😵‍💫 I will no longer be blind to the fact that 2K is robbing us for our time & money!!!

Delay might be gone, but lag latency will always be a factor since it plays a major role in such precise game mechanice. My release point is when it's at the top of his head, but it randomly fluctuates from that to when his wrist flicks because of latency when playing online. When you have such a small green window, any latency above a small threshhold will ruin your shooting, no matter how precise your knowledge of the jumpshot cues are for the different animations. At that point, it is no longer skill based or player fault, but who has the best latency to their servers.

I noticed bringing my shot speed down from A+ to A and then having a high defensive immunity (mine is A+) has allowed me to shoot very well again. Also having a distinctive shooting cue is VERY important. I shoot off of push and as soon as the ball is above my head I shoot and I've been money.

Feel like there’s different shot cues in rec depending on different shots (off dribble, on catch, moving, contest/no contest) there’s like a different shot cue for all but I play on release & I visually see that my shot speed will change almost every shot. Whether I got up slower or go up faster or go up the same but my arms are changing speeds to how fast I usually let go of the ball.

I honestly feel like they touched shooting a bit. However, I agree with Mike ln the fact that we got used to shooting with the delay. After the patch, I deleted all my custom jumpshots and simply recreated them, it seemed to help a bit and I stopped practicing my jumper off-line

There’s something wrong with the jump shot cue. It’s pretty simple. When you’re offline/in mycareer, the “jump, push set point, release” that you pick actually changes. However as soon as you’re online it basically changes to “release” for all jumpshots no matter what ur controller setting are set to. Which is deceptive and confusing asf to my muscle memory. Cuz it’s not like you can now just predict where to let the ball go based on latency. It’s CHANGING when your player is supposed to release the ball according to the cue that they let US choose.

i cant blame the explanation regarding latency fix as to why players are missing MORE. theres so many different shot timings that we have gotten used to the cue. the cue hasn't changed regardless of latency. when you know what to look for, it takes out the muscle memory (at least some what). my issue is the inconsistency, i was shooting 60% pre patch from 3, and now its at like 48% despite green windows increasing. one game i will shoot 5/5, next i will shoot 1/4. Also had one game where i shot 3 shots that i thought would be early, greens, and the next game i shot 4 shots that i thought were perfectly timed, as greens (despite the different timings all were green) There is some weird shit going on, thats all i can say lol

Nah when there was latency you udjusted your cue based on what was going in, when theres no latency your visual cue is going to be different simply because what your seeing on screen isnt delayed anymore. Cant use same cue with no delay that u used with 30ms delay when most green windows are roughly 15-25 ms depending on shot rating.

I've had to put my release point on release when I always had it on push. The visual cue is exactly the same as it used to be when on push. I had a quick jumpshot with an 85 3 ball as a 6'9. Never thought I'd be using release but its working.

When i have the release controller setting visual cue equipped, my standing shot visual cue is the set point visual, but my pull up is accurate to the controller setting cue. Most jumpshots feel way too fast.

I recognized it multiple times in the REC. You’re jumpshot timing, the window in can green it, fluctuates! That has nothing to do with delay. Some games it’s normal then I have to stay way longer in the air before I can release it or I have to just release it before my usual point. That’s how I understand about this adjustment for more “real life”prozentig es. And for my eyes it’s a total random fact for shooting cause u trained ur shot and then it’s way of how u learned your jump shot cue. Why is nobody testing it? I can’t be the only one who feels this? I see this all the time even on other players. One game it’s lights out and the next nobody can hit wide open shots.

No brown nose when I say that I’m in agreement with everything @AllCity is saying, especially when talking about learning his shot cue. For me, running with my 2 way floor spacing slasher build, I always shoot using the Michael Jordan shot since 2K18 because I know when to shoot with it ( when his shoes look like they’d about touch ) but this year I had to do exactly what AllCity did & go back to learning how to shoot offline paying closer attention to the way the shot is working. I had to adjust to the animation of the shot & try different cues. What is working best for me is adjusting the setting to late release & shooting when I start to come down from the top of the shot. I’m not by no means saying this is the best jump shot in the game. It’s just what works for me & my play style. I have a question for @Beluba I’m working on a simulation basketball game for a class I’m taking to become a video game designer, what coding does the Devs use for dunking in 2K24? I ask so I don’t make the same mistake y’all are making ijs lmao

What helped me was that I deleted my created shot and re-created it. Then I also changed my shot meter. I had no idea that the shot meter Comet was slower than Curved bar, which effected my shot. Once i made those changes (re-created shot & changed to Curved bar), I went to my career to get the timing down that way i will be able to go without the meter at some point. I definitely notice the difference in a good way!!! Hopefully this helps someone else who also is trying to compete on the court!!! 😎💪

My theory is that wins and losses are predetermined, and 2k handicaps one team over the other in games. By design, I think 2k is responsible for creating more turnovers for the losing team, the inefficient shooting, and the mismatches in matchmaking, which gives the "winning" team an advantage. There's patterns in the scorecards and matchmaking that helps discern which team will ultimately win. Because of the possibility that 2k is creating wins and losses, this might explain why good shooters may be consistent and efficient for a couple of games, and then are inefficient in games that result in a loss. I've noticed this in 2k23 too.

They did patch my shot. I can prove it. one person who I run with told me to re create my jump shot because after the update I couldn't make a wide open shot to save the world. And I did but I saved the same recreated jump shot into a new file. Once I recreated the shot I saw my jump shot speed, the height of the release and the defensive immunity was lowered. Same shot different grades for different categories....

They shot thousands and they can't shoot without lag. J Thor, Beasley, Oakley is what famous KZbinrs use I use it too. I'm lights out when I release it perfectly and I miss when I don't. You have to watch your player. No muscle memory. If you use muscle memory your screwed. This is the best 2k I have seen them make

Been playing 2k since 2k 9 and historically shoot around 60% from deep. Ive litterally played enough 2k to probably have a phd with the time ive spent in game. Was originally in the "i know its hard but ill get better" camp but enough is enough i just wanna come home and chill while playing a video game not lab for hours tryna fix my shot just for the fucking timing to be different in every game mode and after every patch. Game was fine day 1 , found a decent jumper and was somewhat comfortable with it then boom a patch 3 days into the game, then another patch every 2 weeks "fixing" some shit that completely breaks shooting again.

I use muscle memory and I more or less shoot fine. I have a shot that releases at the same time every time unless it’s an odd catch. I was shooting fine before patch and I’m shooting fine after it. When I miss, I can tell it’s cuz I messed up. I have not been missing shots I felt were suppose to go in.

I play myteam mostly and It seems to me that shot contest is way more effective now. Almost too effective. Players get a shot contest when they’re actually not even near you. But overall I like the new patch. The guys that just spam dribble moves and shoot crazy shots all game now can’t do it. They are forced to learn how to play more realistic basketball. My win percentage has went way up since the patch. While the pros that mainly dribble and three hunt are struggling. I like it

There most likey taking a portion of the green window. Whether it’s the later part of the green window and taking away the early. Maybe even going a little more than half.

The full green window may not be changing but it for users who his more on the edges on the green window will possibly make around 20 to 30 percent in the middle could hit 50-70 because they won’t shrink it to a point where you cant stay on the edges or just time it perfectly in the middle every time

They dont patch jumpers. I run the first jump shot all year round. It works the same all year. However, they do patch latency. I currently have very little, and it does take time to adjust.

I don't think its intentional but when they change other things like fixing screen jumps and lag, it may inadvertently change shot timing (in other words where the green window lives). Hence why when people change their shot after a patch they have to learn the green window on a new shot instead of unlearning the window on the old shot.

I use visual cues and still had to change my shot after the patch. Mostly because shot speed changed and it was easier to learn a new shot then unlearn the old shot.

I call cap, because i have a high 3 pointer and i shoot over 60% from 3, i was shooting a wide open 3 from the top and i missed the shot because of terrible load up i got out of no where, so im sure they brought back some part of last years shooting, and you definitely need to pay more attention to your shooting animations because it varies again

In my experience i feel like. After the patch shooting with low stamina or high stamina its messed up before patch was always slow now with low stamina my shot my be slow 2 later its super quick

At this point if you can’t shoot you just can’t shoot. Get in the lab find a shot and timing that works for “YOU”.

Straight cap, I’m a shooting big with a 80 three n a majority of my shots in the rec are wide open n now I’m missing almost all of my shots after the update. I’m just gonna find a new jumpshot n hope I find something just as fast with more consistency. I did exactly what u did and hopped right into the rec after the update so imma play a couple my career games first n see if that helps

I had to change my jumpsuit after patch but I found another one that's easy muscle memory but my old jumper was definitely slowed down tremendously and it's still inconsistent at times but I'm making the majority

They already did that pre patch! I was shooting 50 percent in the 1v1s and as a main pg and there were people who were straight corner sitters who couldn’t that’s skill gap.

Honestly been shooting better after the patch. Made a build with a 82 3pt down from 88 and went from 32% to 56%. My boys on the other hand….

The boost wasn’t applied to pro am or stage???? No wonder ppl saying they shooting fine but the people I watch on twitch (comp pro am and comp stage) have been struggling.
