The biggest reason they turn profitable isn't for the single day, it's because so many gifts are given within a short time period. You've got so many religious holidays occurring within a short span and each of those give gifts as part of the tradition, so you're going to have many, many consumers buying up items to give as gifts. It's why retail loves this time of the year.

Black Friday was a day in which they sold black slaves at a discounted price, hence the name
@void9837 Жыл бұрын
No. It was the human traffickers who sold slaves to the farmers who needed workers. The immigrants who defected from European Monarchies came to America to escape oppression like everyone else. If they didn't have to ship their cotton to Europe on boats, then they would have been more profitable to pay the workers. When the fashion industry finally developed in the USA, in the 1800s, the workers earned better wages. The human traffickers depleted resources of law enforcement back then, same as today but they were always illegal.

No, No, No. Black Friday is a term used by merchants when they switch from red ink pens to black ink pens indicating a profit. (numbers on the financial ledger written in red ink means no profit) (numbers on the ledger in black ink signals a profit) Christmas is not the biggest holiday in the United States, but the merchants flood the media with advertisements creating the perception of high magnitude. Manufacturers and retailers are clearing out their shelves to make room for new merchandise in the new year. December 31st is the last day of the current tax season. All income earned and tax deductions must be calculated and completed for the end of the year on December 31st. Taxes will be filed in January of each year. Black Friday can be a fun tradition for families to shop together, like Mom and Grandma in one store and Dad and Grandpa in another store. Kids usually stay with a babysitter, so they don't see the gifts until Christmas morning.

The truth about Black Friday deals: 1-The same sales the stores have during the course of the year, is the same exact sales they do on Black Friday. 2-Door exclusive items are just the same products the stores have on clearance during the course of the year. 3-Stores have online Black Friday deals that are not offered in the store and where you can avoid in-store lines.

Well, you're right. Back in 100s of years ago, people(mostly Arabs) who enslaved the black people would sell them at slave market on Tuesday and Friday. Those who weren't sold on Tuesday would be sold on Friday for lower price. They're just picking up events that randomly happened throught the history that ''might'' have connection to nowdays Black Friday

It's not a Myth. There are several historical uses of the term Black Friday... and one specific usage of the term doesn't have anything to do with the other. This segment seems to try and reduce it down to a single (catchall origin). In Retail, the use of the term Black Friday started with Retailers like Montgomery Ward, Sears, and Maceys after WW2. This is when these large retailers first started having huge October thru November Summer 50%, 60%, 70%, and 80% off Clearance Sales Events to clear out the remaining unsold Summer Stock for their Summer to Winter switch over. Today these seasonal retail rotations usually take place on [July 5th for Winter and January 15th for Summer]. These sales were very successful and put them [In the Black] on their Ledger for the fourth quarter, the last three months of the year. With the strongest and most profitable Sales Day always being recorded on the Friday after Thanksgiving. That is where the Retail Term Black Friday comes from.

Stop trying to rewrite history. USA never had slavery, the human traffickers depleted our resources in the 1600s same as today but they are still illegal. The human traffickers are dangerous and they beat the farmers for paying wages or teaching the workers to read.

Imagine that the Black Friday exists even in countries you would not expect to have it celebrated. However, you see, there's a certain number of Black people living here and there and they have a right to have a Black Friday; so, before you think other countries just "ripped off" the Black Friday, they didn't. Their dark-skinned residents, or citizens, even, deserve to have a Black Friday and thanks to them, the rest of the people in those countries can enjoy the Black Friday also!

That was in London and it involved women suffering oppression under the Monarchy. Black Friday is an American tradition supporting our economy, creating a variety of honest paying jobs for future generations. Merchants are selling their stock to prepare for the end of the tax season Dec. 31st and make room for more merchandise, new fashion trends in their warehouses in January.
