LOVED this discussion! But one question. How can Rocco say, the same time, the border is secure andcthere are massive numbers coming across the border? Certainly Border Patrol is doing a ton of work (looking a the number of people apprehended). But in the face of the number of people who are effectively using Border Patrol as a "taxi service", I don't see how anyone comes to the conclusion that the border is secure. Maybe we need to define what we mean when we use the word "secure".

Asylum seekers can only claim asylum when they present themselves for inspection at a Port of Entry on the border. Not by crossing illegally by Entering Without Inspection (EWI) and surrendering to Border Patrol Agents between Ports of Entry.

And being given brand new clothes. Expensive brands at that. I see them with northface jackets and 5.11 pants. We need to stack con-x containers down the whole border and stack them three high. There is a way to stop this but our admin is doing exactly what you say. They are advertising the free clothes and money and of course people are gonna come. It’s absolute wild. Many of the “secretaries” and cabinet members should be charged with treason. This needs to stop.

It's hard to ask this without sounding disrespectful to the Border Patrol, but that's not my intention...how is Border Patrol protecting the homeland by just processing millions of people, most of whom we have no idea of their background, intention or reason for coming to the US? There are a massive number of single males from China and the middle east crossing our border. It seems inevitable that something terrible will happen as a result of this invasion. What good will the Border Patrol having *just followed orders* and processing millions of people through be, when, God forbid, people tragically perish at the hands of a bad actor(s) who were basically welcomed in with a red carpet?

I love the “view the other sides position” mantra we hear on these podcasts. So if you are a law abiding citizen of a sovereign country, sit down and have a fruitful conversation with another person, who’s position is one that promotes breaking your nations laws, draining your nations resources and destroying your sovereign nation from within? It's not "the weirdest thing ever" and people being very riled up about illegal immigration is not a fringe issue at all. Please take some time to talk to people outside of your echo chamber. Almost every person in this country (who isn't breaking immigration laws or parasitic and making money from illegal immigration) thinks illegal immigration is a problem. It's a rare thing - a consensus! The vast majority thinks it's a huge problem, a crisis and a real threat to their interests, well being, future and security. This includes pretty much every immigrant that I know, btw. So there is nothing weird about this and anybody who criticizes you for doing real border control is in the extreme minority and it only makes sense to ignore. This country can't agree on much but it definitely agrees on shutting down illegal immigration, drug cartels, trafficking and one way or another to convince massively corrupt organizations like the Mexican govt & military to stop operating like criminal enterprises. We are getting to the point where people view the bad operators not just as criminals but as evil. It really has gotten that bad and it's been building for a long time and it's not going to blow over. Instead it's going to continue to generate public hearings, citizen action, and maybe even Watergate level investigations and trials. We are losing hundreds of thousands of lives and wrecking magnitudes more than that. This isn't going to blow over.

I appreciate the rational discussion. I have stronger feelings about it all but I agree with everything said here. I lived in Tucson for years. I have family on the Arizona border and I live very close to the Texas border…. What’s going on now is unlike anything I’ve seen. I am totally and completely in favor of legal immigration…. America is the best country on earth, I understand why people want to be here. As every rational person knows, we just have to screen who comes in. Just like you don’t leave your doors and windows open and let strangers in your own house. You get to know people first and make sure they’re trustworthy. The leftists are using this situation to gain votes. They don’t care about these people. They also don’t care about Americans. They just want power.

I think a good person to interview would be a tribal officer working the border or one of the residents who live on one of the reservations close to the border. I have family on the Tohono Oʼodham reservation which is one of the reservations that is literally on the border. They have recently stopped their hunting program because the illegal immigration issue has gotten to dangerous. Our border is NOT as secure as it has been in the past.

She had to prove good moral character and pass health tests. I had to prove good moral character and demonstrate the ability to support her. She could not become a public charge. The current situation angers us beyond the rational point which I believe is what the US Govt. is looking for.

Our border and immigration laws favor illegal entry. It’s no surprise why this is happening. It’s always about the money though. Let’s never forget that. Who is benefiting financially with this crisis? From what I see it’s majority blue cities with their democrat mayors and congressman who are receiving millions of dollars. Those millions then move to catholic nonprofits who use a fraction of the money to provide shelter, food, and clothing. These are only observations. I’m sure the money is going to private businesses too. The point is this border crisis is benefiting too many financially to shut this down quickly, follow the money. Thanks for the episode.

Close the border and only allow non-immigrants and immigrants with approved visas. Prioritize adjudication by USCIS and EOIR Allow ERO to fully enforce its authority. This is not that hard people.
